no i thought tessa was a chic from my area -didn't think she'd use her real name on this site, plus the pictures don't look like around here, i almost asked her one day at the store, glad i didn't hahah.

Just for the record... my name should be _tesseracting but its spelled wrong. Plus I think it's kinda funny and I've already had it for a year so whatever. I'm rolling with it.
A writers mind can be androgynous at times. If you want to visualize me as some hot grower chick go for it. We create our own reality.

I just checked up on the babies. Keeping the greenhouse closed today. I think I might see a slight improvement after spraying, but I'm going to wait until they also get zinc manganese and calcium before I expect to see the deficiency fully disappear.

Today I went out and opened up the greenhouse and put the deer net up for the first time in two or three days. I was surprised to see the bodhi's all looking MUCH greener. Actually they look a lot less green in the pic. I'm stoked. Going to blast them with the rest of the micronutrients asap. I'm going to try to order some albion calcium right now too.

Don't underestimate deer. The previous person at my spot told me they didn't use fencing and deer weren't a problem. Lo and behold, I lost maybe 6 plants before I finally figured out that fishing line, noise makers, throwing rocks, and urine don't fucking work. Luckily my buddy had some 8 ft animal fencing he gave me and I pounded 10 ft EMT into clay by standing on top of my car with a post slammer thing. Then there was that time I threw my full force into the post slammer, but missed the conduit, nearly snapped my neck, and rocketed myself off of my car into a pot.

Gracias amigos...lol Plants

The guy here had bamboo in buckets of soil with 8' black net set up. I might do that I have like a thousand pieces of bamboo. That or concrete in the buckets. Flags or plastic bags on the bamboo or stakes freaks them out too. I saw some run for their lives when the gh plastic started flapping. There are like 6 in my yard right now.

Nice photos. How many hours of sun on that hoophouse?

The deer get a lot braver, and smarter, when there's no food in summer. For part of my fence I had to use the thin $20 black 8ft deer netting from Home Depot, and I left one 5 gallon pot a little too close to the net, because the next morning the pot was on its side and what was left of the plant (a stick) was poking out underneath the net lol. These fucking ripper deer are nimble.

9-10 hours right now.

I just ran out and chased their asses up the hill.

I love them even though they are my enemy.

This fall when hunting season is open I'm for sure filling a feeezer with at least one of them. They walk right up to my window practically asking for it.

Fuck rippers.

lol I remember chasing them last year so many times... every time I'd walk up the hill and they'd be hanging outside the fence.. the hungry little bastards. Couldn't help but feel bad for them... but I wouldn't let my inadequacy as a fence builder turn me into a killer.

..but you know what might turn me into one is the idea of a sous vide deer steak :D

..yes, let us not hate the ones we must destroy.

Looking great!
I'm excited to watch all the local foothill shows from home.
Thanks for rocking it and sharing info. I'm going to order some Calcium too. I've been using Calcium 25 the same jar for years. It's probably snake oil, it works though.

I'm a hunter so I'm on par with the meat, but do they really mess with your plants? 6-8 are in my garden almost every morning all season long and they've never touched any of my plants. They mow the bottom of my boxes where the grass grows lush year after year (I actually like them doing this) but they never touch my plants.

My dumb ass friend put out 99 plants. Said the same thing, "deer are here everyday, they never bother the plants." Then one night, once all the other vegetation dried up, the deer ate over 20 plants, and topped almost all of them. He said he has about 15 deer, not including the males.

By the time the vegetation dries up the deer need ladders around here. They're just pruning out the bottoms at that point
I'm on my 7th season without deer fence. They'll eat my Veggies for sure.
