Fireknot farm 2016

You dont really have to ph for soil, generally speaking, but im a special case because my well water is 5.1, and for soil, not hydroponics, its better to be around 6.5. Little different. If you have lime in your medium 5.9 is too low (like sunshine#4, promix)

I think this whole process is really amazing. I'm almost glad in a way im getting a little deficiency, I am going to quickly learn how to solve this. I cant believe how much I've learned already this year...and still have so much more to learn!

Looking good man. Let those girls get settled in their home, maybe hit them with a broad spectrum foliar. Don't worry about them not needing water, they tell you what they want and you provide.

Gracias, im going to get the ammendments hopefully here by monday or tuesday, so there should indeed be some good progress.

200ug is mellow but I find it makes my body work better for a while afterwards. Its a nice healthy reset. Im going to eat more after I figure out this deficiency situation for sure!

Oh and after all the candyland is trimmed, thats going to take me at least a week to get done. Its getting chopped within the week.

Hey jointed thank you for the tip Ive been waiting out on the AEA stuff but just may do that.

I transplanted into the 5's a week ago, been watering at 6.5ph, between 60-75f, I had the dirt for a month before I planted, and there was significant rainfall.

They are growing, but there is slight discoloration in some on the lower leaves, some of the tips look necrotic like a zinc deficiency. I can get all my trace minerals for 15$, Im going to order tomorrow and experiment. From what I've read it cant hurt, and if they are deficient, I will see results immediately.

Leadsled on page 22 says I need boron, manganese, copper and zinc. I'm positive it isn't pythium or fusarium
Do not forget Calcium as well. The calcium is lacking and that should be corrected.

Ideally all of the required amendments are added trace minerals and calcium are added to the soil before planting. Since you are already planted. You could mix w ewc and top dress.

Steve Solomon - The Intelligent Gardener.
Disease or insect attack: In the event there are problems with disease and/or insects, if the soil prescription calls for any iron, manganese, or zinc, first try this remedy: mix one kitchen measuring teaspoonful of the appropriate sulfate fertilizer into one litre of water, and spray on the affected plants so that water drips off every leaf. If the element is copper, mix only a measured half-teaspoon into one litre; copper sulfate can be caustic and damage plant leaves if too concentrated. If foliar feeding of a trace element remedies the situation within a few days, repeat every few weeks as needed. If it does not remedy the problem, do not repeat.

Thanks leadsled, I have your posts bookmarked and just went back to read them, im ordering calcium borax zinc manganese and copper. Ideally yes, but my plants needed to be transplanted, I planted them too shallow trying to cut corners. The mounds will be ammended right. I like the ewc idea but thats more money and need to fix what I should have already done as cheap as possible, and trace mineral foliar feed looks to be the option until I get paid.

Also I screwed up and added all the gypsum, not half, I wont make that mistake again

I can appreciate being on a budget, but the EWC gives your amendment breakdown a known start time, to a degree, your plants could probably use. microlife needs to be in contact and ewc does that right away. The mix you have has some microlife but in lesser concentrations i'd guess. A few gallons if you can per plant would be all you need of decent sourced ewc. you can get borax where you buy laundry detergent, it's used to adjust hard water. At least an equal volume of EWC to amendments to start at a minimum, could be added later but only if just not possible now.

Everywhere I went this morn' was sold out of ewc, go figure, but I will remember this for the future. So I sprayed borax at 30ml/gal until they were dripping. Probably only used a half gal at the most. Then I went out and washed off the borax with epsom. I can see the deficiency increasing today before I sprayed.

I ordered a pound of copper manganese and zinc from black lake which will be here tuesday. I have to call albion for calcium monday and see how much it costs. I guess this is my cheapest option for calcium?

The quality ewc and compost is in high demand.

No, The albion metasolate calcium is for foliar spraying only. not for amending soil. Still good to get. Will have to get from a distributor not direct from albion. GS long in yakima, WA had some in stock. was around $120.00 or so with 5 lbs with shipping. www.gslong.com

High calcium Lime aka Ag Lime is calcium carbonate.

Microna is a brand of ag lime that works well.
Plant natural carries it and ships, concentrates and other spots also carry it. http://www.planetnatural.com/product/agricultural-lime/

Alternatively can get oyster shell flour from pacific pearl or down to earth. May be easier to source.

Either source of ag lime will work.

i ordered some the other day and the paypal wasn't working so i was referred to russel at 843 250 6950 back east. he could sell as small as 2.5 gal but the difference in shipping a 2.5 and a case (2-2.5) was 20 bucks so i went with the case. it was $302. for a case with ground shipping. lemme know if you get a better deal cuz my ass is still sore from the shipping rate, like 70 bucks- but the stuff is supposed to be the shizznit so it's worth it. and it's not "just calcium" check out their you tube video- sold me.

The calm before the storm dude. Work-wise. I just sprayed borax and epsom today it was chill.

Tomorrow just watering and maybe some transplanting. Pouring here too.

I've considered changing my name to the correct spelling but I just don't care enough.
