Thanks dude thats where I'm at and it's where I hope to stay. I'd be so happy if I never had to leave, but with my current track record the odds are simply against me. I tell myself to just enjoy the beauty while I can. Who knows what tomorrow will bring? Other than my ghetto greenhouse...

One things for damn sure though---I'd rather be dead and gone than live in a city ever again---

The only good things about cities = good food and pretty ladies

Today I worked on my ghetto greenhouse. I said I was going to do it for under 50$ and I was right, I spent 49$ 30 on plastic 15 on gorilla tape. It's a major piece of shit but it works. I spent the day hammering in old t posts and tying the frame with rope. It's 20' long but there's enough space eventually to have a 45' hoop here. The "walls' are just going to be cut plastic clipped to the sides. Everything was refashioned from junk on the property which has all been cleaned up. I might cut some old 2x4s to prop up the center ends tomorrow too. I'll find a pallet for the floor. .. somewhere. ..

Now I'm going to smoke like 5 bowls of hash.

Oh, also, my soil consultant hasnt touched base since last Friday. I've left multiple voicemails/emails. I'm starting to think he doesnt want my business and am going to start looking elsewhere. I want to eventually understand soil chem but I have several seasons ahead of me before I'm anywhere near proficient.

Nice work on the hoop, plants dont give a damn what it looks like i promise, they only care about the protection and security that thing provides......as long as it works they will reward you

A lot of the main benefits of a GH is how little plants transpire, warmth in the early season for root growth and controlling nightly lows. That would blow away in about 4 minutes at my farm, but it doesn't look too windy around there.

But I suppose if you aren't worried about any of that and its more of just a shield from heavy rain or hail, then your set.

I actually have several years experience building and running greenhouses already under my belt despite what it may look like but thanks for the tips. It was extremely windy where I was in butte county. Wind here is moderate. If I need to I'll just add more gorilla tape. The 2x4s holding the plastic down will be buried under dirt too. Im pretty sure I have another roll of gorilla tape in one of my grow rooms which I'll use to seal the "walls" but crimped clips work well enough too (you gotta remember this cost me 50$ perfections not exactly paramount right now)

I'm stoked to have a chamber I can blast my girls at 80%RH with PFR-97 and not have to worry about those evil demon sonsabitches on my trees! In fact, I'm going to go innoculate it right now.

And about the soil consultant thing, wtf is up with that man?? Thats what ruins the farming scene for me more than anything. Rarely anybody is professional. If I say I'm gonna do something, I'm gonna do it. Especially is somebody is paying me for my services. From growers to workers to extract processors...this industry is diseased with people who do not follow through. I know every industry has its flakes, but cannabis really takes the cake.

I wish there was an option where you could get consulting on here...milkyjoe has easily saved me a few thousand bucks by helping me get plants on track that were hurting...I'd gladly pay him for his services. I tried to, but obviously security is everbodys highest priority.

M astera has gone dark on everyone (or so thats what ic mag peeps say) my consultant said he'd send the report friday...nothing...so... yeah, I feel you, I try to be professional myself as much as I can, and it sux when others arent but what can you do? I'll be looking into alternate options.

Its weird its like theres a consult flood happening right now.

Anyone happen to know of any books specifically on understanding soil chem?

hey tess ive been testing and balacing soils for 4 years now and would love to give youu my 2 c untill
your guys come through.
the coots mix looks pretty were should be, no traces on that test but they are in the recomendations.
the logan tests were whats in the ground,
there was some variation between the two tests,
was each test made from one sample spot , or a combination of say 5 or 6 areas combined into one sample?

Hey thanks a lot, I am definitely interested in learning as much as possible, I have a decent understanding of chemistry but soil chem is new to me.

Site 1 was a sample from the coots mix before the month of rain I just had. One member said it was low in boron, but thats all I've heard so far.

Site 2 was a sample I took from one of my holes. Soil from previous resident. I planned on just slapping the 2 yrd mounds on top unless it needs some work.

Its from logan, they also sent me the recs for site 1, the coots.

Also if you know of any good books I can study I would appreciate it.

Ideal soil by Michael Astera. I just got mine in a few days ago. I think after finishing it up, I won't really need much help balancing. Maybe a few pointers but its really instructional and informative.

LeadSled will help where Micheal dropped the ball. Leadsled has designed 50 yards of soil for me this year, getting my lab tests back from logan today hopefully.

A good book, is Michael Astrea's The Ideal Soil. That will teach you everything the consultants know. Good luck.

Little bit of agsil16h to raise the ph of the water.

If you need a soil recommendation, happy to do one. I turn em around within 24-48 hours.
Seen people wait on bas for weeks.
Angus know his compost extracts. Be wary of the soil chemistry ,He will recommend compost that will overdose you with K.

Ideally you want to take a gallon bucket not a nursery pot and weigh a gallon of soil.
Than dry it out and weigh again.
Note weights. Give volume of soil you use and weight of soil can do an amendment recommendation for you.

intelligent gardener, the ideal soil are both excellent books. The ideal soil will teach you about the weight.

If you get tired of waiting, hire someone that knows how to read a soil test and does not lag for weeks. HMU
