like p'fan said, we are pretty easy going around here and are more interested in sharing ideas regardless of medium
plus i think your drip set up could easily be used for any soil so its still helpful to anyone wanting help wht automating their set up
/ i was mainly asking what you grew in to get an idea of water retention; hydroton dries out pretty fast while rockwool/coco hold water well
glad you are happy with your harvest, have you sampled yet?

i like the overlap in the leaf fingers and the overall structure
a little streach will also give you some options as far as choosing spots to clone, i like to have at least a couple inches of stem between nodes before i sink them into the rooter cubes
maybe placing some insulation between the outer wall and the grow area could help?
it sounds like a great space to grow
so what are your plans for the big game coming up?
are you going to grill out or go watch the game someplace?
a friend was talking about firing up his smoker and throwing a super bowl party, but i am more inclined to just stay home and enjoy the game by myself (and the mrs of course)

I raised the light a few inches and I'm going to let them streach a bit. I should probably top them to encourage more branching, like you said, to give me more places to get cuts from. I've heard that typing slows down presexing so I've been hesitant to do it until I can figure out if boys or girls. Once they are sexed I'll cut on them and let them get bushy. I don't need to take cuts for a few weeks anyway.

I'm sure insulating the wall would help and I might try that and a heating pad. I'm thinking this is only an issue during the coldest months as well and I think I might just use the tent as the nursery for now if I find it easer to clone in there. The other spot is a little bigger for vegging plants anyway. I think I'm going to skip the 8" air stone this time too, maybe too many bubbles in that little tank wasn't good for the cuts.

I'm not sure what's up for the super bowl. My bro is going to be in the fl keys (lucky bastard) so I might just stay home and take it easy too. Firing up the smoker sounds great. I don't care much for New England or Philadelphia so I'd just be watching for fun and not really caring about the outcome of the game. I'm sure you'll have a good time and whatever you decide to do and you'll cook up something good.

And I still have 3 weeks left. Getting excited, and nervous. Gonna be a serious venture to get it all trimmed. Not looking forward to it.

Yes 4 quarters of good football would be great. I'd love to se that as well. Plus some of the commercials are worth a watch sometimes. It's a great excuse to have some drinks and good food and relax a bit. Pizza sounds good I haven't had any of that since I changed my eating habits. Going to save that for an occasional treat. I love the snacks and finger foods at Super Bowl parties, you get some variety and plenty to eat.

My bro is going for like 5-6 days. He isn't booking hotels just going to wing it and see where it leads him. He's thinking at least a couple days in the keys and just to bum around down there. Escaping the cold and getting some sun are what he's looking for. I'm headed to Alabama in a couple weeks and going to be down for Mardi Gras. I'll be in New Orleans the Monday before Fat Tuesday. I've never been anywhere near there before and look forward to the experience.

I'd like to grow less in the summer too. I have a hard time keeping temps down and I use a lot more electricity between the a/c, dehumidifier, ect. Plus I'm more likely to want to get away during the summer and it's so hard to do that with the plants. If I can start pulling more weight like the last run I could see myself shutting the flower tent down for a couple months of the summer and just keeping moms around.

Yes free spirit is a good description for him for sure. Your right it's great to get away for a while and this time of year is the best time to do it when you live in the great frozen north. I'm stoked about our trip too. I haven't been anywhere near Alabama or New Orleans before and have no ide what to expect. My wife has a lot of family down there and I'll get to meet a bunch of them for the first time. I'm planning on a couple games of disc golf too. Mardi Gras should be a great time, we don't really celebrate that here so not sure what to expect. It will be a new experience for me.

It's always exciting to put plants to flower. I hope they do great for you and I'm looking forward to hearing about them as they bloom. Throw up pics when you can.
I'm suprised at how quick my clones are transitioning to flower themselves, they are starting to bud after just a little more than a week. I have to get serious and start trimming the lowers off of them before thay waist too much energy down there.

I'd be worried about mold too. My biggest bud had a little mold on the last harvest but I didn't loose much. I'm also thinking that the longish 11 weeks had more to do with the mold than the actual size of the colas but might be wrong about that. The 2 that came down a couple weeks earlier had no signs of mold, which got me thinking that the longer they flower the longer it has to take hold. That's a great idea to cut the budlets off to help prevent possable mold and dry quicker. That and keep the humidity down and you should be fine. 9 pounds would be an epic haul.

/you are really pulling down some nice weight there!
yeah, the large buds are fun to look at but can be more problems than they are worth
plus the market seems to not like buds that are too big
when i was young we would prize forearm sized colas
now people complain about there being too much stem on the really big buds
/cool people always got a few extra gr to make up for lumber,anyway
about how much do you think you lose to mold in your grow?
hopefully your humitdity levels are good and you want lose too much to bud rot
btw, how was the birthday party?

i bet anyone living in the colder parts of the country would welcome getting away for a holiday someplace warm
are you two much alike, who is older?

with the santa ana winds we have been having the skies are super clear and the moon looked so bright on the way home tongiht!
the mrs says its totally full this wed so we will be sure to go for a nice long walk that night!

Hey Jungle mates, birthday party was great. I have only lost a couple buds to mold in all my time growing. It was a strain that had huge colas. I saw what my buddy lost to mold when he grew mendobreath. It yields enough to make up for the loss.

I have been making a fair bit of rosin lately. My buddy has been coming by every weekend to get something pressed. We did some strawberry banana, such a wierd flavor for weed it work though. I did some super fresh kief that came out awesome. It turned out light yellow and very tasty. It's funny that he comes here to use my little press, when they have $ 5500 sasquatch press. They can't get it to yield. I have to laugh when people spend a fortune and can't figure it out

Yes for sure heading south for vacation is very popular here and all over the northern states. There are a few people that really like the cold weather that might not agree but the majority of us would rather not have such long cold winters. But we understand that the nice weather during the other seasons makes it worth it. It's a bonus if we get to go south for a break.

My bro and I use to be complete opposites of each other, especially when we were kids. He's a few years younger and was more into sports and stuff in school and I was a stoner in school. After high school he started to become more of a stoner and we've gotten allong much better ever since.

My wife grew up here in wisco but her dad grew up in bama. They use to take a vacation at least once a year down there so she has stayed in touch with all the cousins, I think she has like 100 first, second, ect cousins down there, a lot of big family's. I'm sure il get allong fine with her family I can usually get allong with just about anyone. I just have to know when to say when, I don't want our whole vacation dominated by seeing family and running around all over down there. I've got some disc golfing and some relaxing to do.

I must say I'm a bit jealous to hear about your nice 80 degree weather. Who needs winter anyway? Enjoy some sun for me LOL. I think your right there is some kind of super moon tomorrow I've been hearing about it. I love a nice walk during a full moon, just the way the moon lights things up. Greetings friends.

It's update time again in the jungle. It's day 13 of bloom for the 91xSL clones and they are doing well. They are filling out the space and reaching for the sky. They are starting to bud a lot earlier then they did as seed plants. I can see why clones finish quicker then seed plants. They look to be stretching a little less than they did as seed plants too. I've done some trimming up of the lowers on them and I'll do a couple more sessions of that in the next couple weeks. They seem happy and healthy so far. Here is a couple shots of them.


Things are moving nicley on the red eye Jedi and the other couple for the next flower run. Still not showing sex but I've got a feeling that there are 2 or 3 lady's there.

why i first hear of it thats how a friend made it, with this hair iron and paper
/he wrapped the bud in the paper and mashed it in the hot iron after a few pieces he had a nice glob

Yeah you can use a hair straightener to make rosin. There is a thread about them its hmk. They were taking 2 hair straighteners mounted to a clamp. I don't know how well they work. Should be doable

Yes you can use a hair iron thingy for making rosin. The first time I heard of it was when I saw someone on a YouTube vid doing it that way. He was pressing small buds between two pieces of parchment paper. He was getting like one dab at a time and the process looked extremely tedious. It looked like it would take all day to make a gram of the stuff. That was a few years ago and luckily technology has improved quite a bit since then. I think that Pack has the right method, it's effective and efficient.

Thanks pop. The plants seem happy. I've been checking the runoff ppm and have found that I have to feed extremely light to keep runoff under 1800 ppm. Even that may be too high but it's what I've been getting. This leads me to believe that I had way over fed them on the last run, even at 1/2 strength of what the bottle recommend. I think I was dealing with an imbalance and lockout from the start of flower last run. It seems ocean forest has a lot of nutes in it allready and I was adding even more. Right now I'm at 1/4 strength on the PBP bloom, 2ml/gallon calmag plus, and 10ml/gallon diamond nectar. After pHing it comes to about 400 ppm feed and 1800 ppm runoff. As the runoff ppm decreases I'll up the feed some. This is the first time I've monitored runoff ppm like this but I think it's going to help me get dialed in. I'll be able to keep track of how much the plants are using. The plants have just about dubbed in hight since the flip so still plenty of streach. My guess is that they will streach for less time since they are already budding earlier. I've still got like 18" to raise the light so I don't think headroom will be an issue this round.

Yes I've just got the one brother. I think it's pretty common for siblings to get allong better once both are grown up and out of the house. There is a lot of competition between siblings when growing up, for resources and attention and all kinds of things and I think that contributes to that. I'm sure it's a bit diffrent when both siblings are brothers, lots more fighting and whatnot. Im sure your sister can look back and appreciate you watching out for her, even if she thought it was unnecessary at the time.

You are right January is flying by and I have a feeling that in the blink of an eye we will be talking about how fast 2018 went by. I've been extra busy with having to fit working out into my days so time is going even faster for me than it ever has before. It will be busy season at work within a few weeks and that will just make time go faster. I guess that's just life and to be honest keeping busy is best for me. Less time to get in trouble LOL.
