Yes it,does suck. Especially after working all day. I am back at work today. In lieu of a Xmas bonus, we get double time and a half this weekend, I am working 5-10 today. Not working tommorow. Finished harvesting the seed run the yield was pitiful only 2 full jars. And a bunch of half full jars. Extremely disappointed. Hopefully they will yield better from clone with more light.

Greetings friends.
I hope everyone is in good health and good spirits. With the Holliday behind us we can start to get excited about what the new year will bring for us. I hope everyone stayed on Santas good list and got or got to give all that they wanted. Christmas should be a fun time for kids and a chance to spend time with loved ones.
It's been fairly quiet in the jungle the last few days since the second 2 plants were harvested. I have the 2 seedlings, the older moms and a back up set of each mom that just rooted last week. Once all the buds have some cure time I'll figure out which one I liked the best and keep that mom around and get rid of the others. The flavor of the buds from the first 2 plants is improving with cure a lot and the second harvest is coming allong nicley. The only issue I had was a little grey mold on a just a couple of the colas so I cut off the buds that weren't touching it and got rid of the moldy stuff. Probably less than 1/4 oz was affected by the mold. I am making sure to dry the stuff really thoroughly so I don't get mold in the curing jars.
Thanks guys for holding down the jungle when I couldn't be here the last week or so. Without saying too much my sick family member is doing much better and made some incredible steps forward to get out of the ICU. He has a long way to go and it's not going to be easy for him but it's much improvement over a week ago when the docs didn't think he was going to make it. Only time will tell how much of a recovery he will make. Thanks again for your thoughts and prayers!

Thanks POP Rocks. We had a great Christmas. Kids got a ton of stuff, the misses spent half the day opening toys and is only half way done. I scored a bunch of fishing gear, and my fishing licence for next year, ammo, oakleys, packers gear, clothes. I ate a couple shrooms before we left for the day, made for an interesting Xmas. Not enough to trip but it was fun
Damn packs! Fishing gear and tripping? Don’t worry m8, i don’t wait for invites I invite myself. All is well here. My lady got her license for work and a job at a new salon so all is well here. Hoping ‘18 will be a good year! Waiting patiently for clones to take so I can finally drop the mothers. Got a little excited during veg and yeah have monsters now. Going to flip the mothers and see what they may have to offer then run small clones

Good morning friends.
The morning of Xmas eve we got a couple inches of snow so it was a white Christmas here after all. Since then the temps dropped like a stone and it was 10 below 0 here this morning when I took Rufus for his walk. This kind of cold is harsh and it makes me think of moving south. I love it here but not as much when it's below zero.
I thought I'd do a little harvest report since I just got the second set of harvested plants dried and in the cure zone. I got 18 quarts plus a couple pint jars full of buds from this run (4 plants). I also got a couple quarts of dry trim and larf and a coupl quart bags of fresh Frozen larf and trim for the hash fund. Pretty good yeild for sure my best. I haven't weighed it but I'm sure it's up there with my biggest. So far most of the buds are somewhere between fluffy and medium density, with a few being on the denser side. I got some nice sized nugs too, bigger than most of my other runs. Im going to wait for the more recently harvested herb to cure a little then I'll do a smoke report and decide on a keeper.
Yes for sure life has a schedule and it dosent care about holidays. Mayb it just seems this way but it seems like there has been a lot of tragedy around thanksgiving and Christmas for a lot of people I know. I know plenty of people who don't look forward to the holidays because of losses in past years. I try to look at every new year as a chance for happy times and just be grateful to spend time with loved ones.
Temps in the basement have been steady at 70-72 but I don't have a good way of manipulating them so probably not much I can do there. As long as I don't find any mold on anymore I am not going to worry too much. It was just a very couple buds on the two thickest colas and a very small percentage loss. I know a 60+ year old basement isn't the most ideal grow spot and a little mold will probably always be a possibility. Thanks for the tips on cleaning the jars. Before every run I shake a cup of 91% isopropyl in each jar and then run them in the dish washer in a sanitize load, then rinse them with water and dry for a couple days. A dip in boiling water couldn't hurt that process.
I did get to enjoy time with family and friends and in-laws this Christmas, even though it was busy, there were good times and it was a good Holliday.
I like watching kids open presents probably even more than opening them myself. It reminds me of how fun it was to be a kid on Christmas morning. I'm glad your kids had fun and it sounds like you got some nice stuff as well.

It sounds like your garden is doing good, I tend to let my plants veg a bit much as well and end up with a packed tent and not enough headroom after the streach. Have you thought of trying cloning in a tub of water with your air stones?

Seem to be doing better fiddy... awesome haul for you! Was going to stay quiet about my cloner for a few days longer, however since you asked... I am happy to report with about a week in my rickety homemade cloner, I am sitting at about a 60% strike rate with roots. Only the first few are coming out, so was going to wait a bit longer before the report, but all signs are pointing positive! As far as the other 40%, the cuts were smaller, so either it will take a bit longer OR they aren’t getting quite enough light to produce. Going to give the roots a bit longer on the ones showing then pull them to see if the others will take

Good afternoon pop_rocks.
Thanks brother, I'm much happier with this harvest than I thought I'd be. Not sure why I was so negative after I chopped the first two, I must have had my expectations way up there. This chop follows a great harvest from the gorilla bubble and it's not easy to compete with the GB in trichome coverage, flavor and potency but it's holding its own nicley. I gave out a half jar in samples to friends and everyone loves it.
I'm hoping that I have enough from this run to stockpile some so I don't have to rush to dry and cure my next runs. I hope to give everything about a month after harvest until I make future judgments about what I've grown.
I think I have 4-6 oz of fresh frozen larf and trim for hash making. I also have a couple ounces of dry larf and trim that I can add or make butter with, it's been a while since I made any edibles so maybe for New Years.
You are right it's not bad for a 600w light in an old basement. I've been telling my bro that I can learn a lot about growing down there but I won't grow anything truly great until I find a more clean environment, like sealed rooms with hepa filters and such. But to be honest with he basement isn't bad, temps are good all year, just not perfict. For instance my seedlings are suffering a bit and slow right now, I'm guessing due to low humidity (30% today), far from perfict but the plants will have to adapt.

Good afternoon Badfishy.
Yes this harvest is much better than expected. Much better.
I'm a big fan of cloning in water these days. I think you will see your clones veg faster without the rooting hormones too. I've found that mine works best if I keep it like 2-3 feet under my t5 light. Too much light causes them to eat themselves. I've been getting close to 100% to root within 10-14 days. I've experimented with how much to let the roots grow before putting them in soil and found that a few roots that are a couple inches or so seems to be plenty. When I let the roots grow too much they got tangled with other clones roots and some ripped off when I was trying to seperate them. I'm glad you are having success with this method.

I'm glad you guys had a great Holliday. Pipes are a great gift as long as the giver knows what to look for in a pipe i.e. Bowl shape, size and the size of the hole. I got a cool piece from my wife for Christmas and she got me a cool Sherlock for my bday to replace the one I broke earlier this year. I'll take a pic and post them up to have a look at. Would love to see yours as well. That sounds like a great tradition to give a nice piece every year. I got some Brewers tickets and some other cool stuff too. I always say to not get me anything but people do anyway and I end up getting something I never knew I wanted.
I think you are right that we make the best of the space we have for our grows. I don't have any plans but someday I'd like to get in a spot where I have a little more control over the environment. But that is down the road when I have a good system with consistently great results.
I haven't gone out on New Year's Eve in a long time, lots of drunks on the road and I'm just too old to do the kind of partying I use to. The wife and I use to go to a big rave party every year when we were younger. That's a young people's scene and it's probably best I don't try to relive those days. It's going to be super cold and the last couple weeks have been so crazy I need the weekend to chill and rest. Defenatly going to puff a lot and have a bunch of drinks though. I think I'm in the same boat as you and going to hang out and enjoy the last hours of '17.

Good afternoon pop_rocks.
You are right it's pricy to go out on New Years and it just isn't the same as when I was younger. It seems like amateur night anyway. I guess I just didn't care when I was younger or didn't notice. Either way I'm going to cook up some good food and enjoy a relaxing NYE this year.
I bet it's cold in Boston this time of year. It must be tough for the Mrs to go from such a nice mild climat straight to the frozen north. At least we get to transition into it when we live here. I hope she has the warm cloths and hat and gloves for her travels.
I would like a bit more flower space to do more hunting as well. I think I could get away with one more tent and another 600w in my basement but that would be just about it, anymore and I think it would get too hot down there.
This has been another busy week at work and I can't wait for a couple days off. For me 2017 was a good year with just a few exceptions. I learned a lot about growing this year, had some mixed results but things are heading in the right direction for sure. Plenty to be grateful for.
Here are the 2 newest editions to my pipe collection. The red one was for Xmas and the Sherlock was a birthday gift.

I got propane burner going now and staying between 60 and 80 whoever said the propane added humidity must be mistaken. one room 6x8 11' ceiling burner running on thermostat i get 33% tops I don't mind as the girls are finishing up. Here's a pix of some of them the cookies Kush by Barneys and Dutch kush by paradise along with NLxBig Bud are still growing as is the shorter candy kush girls
