Feds Shutting Down Harborside....

i really think dank.frank has it fully right here.

being angry at people selling bud in dispensaries because it's not cheap is just stupid. as long as the gov keeps locking people up and destroying lives due to cannabis growing or selling, you have to expect people to want to be compensated for that risk.

as can be seen even supposedly legal establishments are not safe. so don't put the cart before the horse guys, it will not move. once the laws change the prices will change,it's plain simple logic imo.

Okay well this is where I'm going to have to step in to really disagree sorry bro and let me break this one down as to why I don't agree with this one at all and why it actually make me mad:
#1. Most ppl that need medical cannabis need it because they are sick!!. Sick meaning they have either lost their job. or been put in a position that they can not do what they used too..#2. No one can convince me that one lbs of cannabis is worth $9989.00 US the day you do this I will eat my hat.
#3. There will always be cheaper bud for sale and I don't see it available for anyone at these clubs? ie. outdoor crappy bud grows easy and should be sold cheap..#4. It seems that this has really turned into a business and that is fine but let us not forget that these are ppl that are dying so we should not act like the Gov is acting right now. I did not think this was their goal.
I can say for my own personal experience with the clubs that they were not as helpful as they could have been and the bud was not as good as I would have liked it to be. As far as the underground bud here it's much better then our clubs and for this reason I would prefer it 100%. This opinion may not be popular but it's my truth.

Okay as Hydrosun pointed out I do hate the feds more and what they are doing incase anyone might have missed that ...

good luck finding legit growers who care about their end product to grow for free at the risk of getting locked up.

no one is saying it should be the way it is, what i am saying is that as long as the risk of growing and selling bud is still loss of freedom and destruction of family you will not find growers willing to do it for an average reward, let alone for free.

it's like people think growing is so easy and so cheap and so risk free, well if that's the case go right ahead and do it yourself and show us how it's done. of course sick people should get their cannabis for free, actually their health insurance should cover it. but thats down to the laws. you can not expect some grower to bring all this about under the threat of incarceration.

the law has to change, then all the rest can fall in place. as soon as growers can feel 100% secure of their freedom, they will gladly donate or sell cheap bud for medical use. but as long as you life and liberty are at risk, you will want a reward for taking that risk. sure you might help out your friends that are sick, and i think we all do that. but when it comes to large scale helping like that, you need changed laws.

Need and Give are

EVIL FUCKING WORDS.

I don't care about most people, I don't like most people, most people live on their knees and are more than happy to plant a knife in their brother's back.

Please quit talking about most people and instead speak about what is right, ethical, and moral. My guess is YOU will find that sacrificing ME to the NEEDS of MOST PEOPLE is easy, but immoral.

Do you give a shit why I USE cannabis? Who gave YOU the right to JUDGE my WANTS, let alone my fucking NEEDS?

I produce and don't give two fucking shits about what YOU want or NEED. Peace out, you go fucking feed MOST PEOPLE and their NEEDS.

I know I'll probably get flamed for this..but whatever.

First things's first,I believe Harborside was in it for the money, plain and simple. The boss is a typcial "stoner,hippy/braids and stupid hats? One of the male employees wears DRESSES to work...I think I saw one of them smoking a bong while working??....This is NOT the proper way of conducting a busnieses..go look at a pharamacy..neat,organzised,uniforms..you dont see any of the guys popping pills or wearing dresses.

It is not "hating" to say that this so called "helping patients" is the only cause they work for..its the LIE that they use..they want money..ALOT of money..and they got it..then they booked a show called "Weed Wars"..where they brag and show idiots wearing dresses.
Oh and the "patients"..young,perfectly fine guys...Guys dressed as hippies..some in suit and ties....I was expecting to see older, obvisly sick individuals..not guys who seem perfectly healthy....helping the patients....sure.....

I saw a cannabis documentary where a perfectly fine young man,who was eager to get his rec.....saw a doctor that is notorious for giving out recs all day...the guy got a very basic checkup..said his knee hurt..and came out in less than an hour VERY excited...oh and the doctor gets another "customer" who has to pay him $100 dollars every year...win win

dispensaries are violating federal law by selling marijuana. It cites a federal law that "makes it unlawful to rent, lease, profit from or make available for use, with or without compensation, a place for the purpose of unlawfully manufacturing, storing, distributing or using a controlled substance, to wit, marijuana.

Harborside serves about 100,000 medical marijuana users a year and pays $3 million in federal, state and local taxes annually.

sure is funny, by the looks of it the feds are unlawfully profiting from this as well.

To rewrite what I said...I dont think all dispensaries are strcitly for profit..yes cananbis has ALOT of medicinal properties...YES I sure damn wish it would be fully legalized...however,we know much of the medical state's motives is money..Im not saying its bad for perfectly fine individuals to smoke..its a blessful herb..I think cananbis can save the world,..we know it has many uses..fuel,paper,rope,food,medicine,etc....we know that the government doesnt want it legalized because of these properties..powerful lobbyists from the tobbaco, alcohol, and Big Pharma DEFINITELY do not want it legalized..

But to abuse the pretenses of Medical Marijauana Laws..is very greedy..I support small mom and pop dispensaries..I'v heard stories where it has helped a young boy with epilepsy...I support the movement 1000%.....just not "medicaL marijuana"......especially one as big as Harborside..it was akin to the Walmart of cannabis...and I know I hate Walmart for what it does...

I personally would get a rec. because of severe imsonmia, anxiety, and other issues..I know young people and old like to get high,period....

Just dont say its for "medical" reasons....and dont go to a dispensary where a guy wears dresses...what kind of negative view did Weed Wars paint to the world about legalizing marijuana??....a loopy hippy owner, guy wearing dresses..and guys fresh from highschool going in and buying weed...

Im very sorry if my view upsets people..but its my opinion..Jah bless

the other thing to think about is they are there fighting this fight, so let them dress as they please while doing so. it's their life and their consequences. if they been dressing like that all along, why should they totally change just because they happened to end up on tv?

no one is saying that the world isn't full if bigots, just that it shouldn't be and at least here lets accept people as they are and not use the bigoted judgmental measuring stick of western society to judge people.

Completely true, but......when you run the largest dispensary and/or on t.v., magazines, etc. YOU are the face of the movement to western society.

It now becomes a chess match between the Feds and Harborside.....believe the cease and desist was for the landlord and not Harborside specifically........:chin:......ownership of property changes...another notification.....ownership change....could go on forever...knight takes pawn......Feds are squeezing every angle at the moment through coercion, that way no courts. Banks....landlords...lawyers...are all on notice. Interesting how they found a loophole against lawyers by threatening to yank insurance..........rook takes knight.....In relation to the tax dollars, does that make the IRS co-conspirators under the RICO act?.......need to smoke more pot...discuss.

Cheers

this and every other bullshit bust that our LEO friends pull off is about high profile stoners getting burnt to the ground in public ......... they are sending a message plane and simple

ask tommy chong about it

their tactics have not changed in the past 40 years, but what they don't get is that the headlong charge has gotten them away from there supply lines and at some point they will realize they are just a bunch of cowboys surrounded by pissed off indians.

these fucktards declared war on us and have used every underhanded tool in the book going for the win ....... AND IT WON'T HAPPEN for them ...... EVER. they are idiots and they are outnumbered. at some point they won't be able to find new recruits to keep this crap going

tick tock ............... checkmate

Applying to growers, and to people who open Dispensaries... People should make money for hard work, diligence, and risk. Period.

If I make the best Wine in the area, I expect to make a premium on it.

Addressing a concern above... Regarding someone in HS taking a bong rip. I have seen a few Bartenders take a shot, or be bought one..

This thread is silly, but entertaining.

I wish that HS would not have as a representative a Dude in a dress. Not a "Prettyish" Guy, which would be remotely passable, but an Oaf of a Dude.. lol.. Good on him for being an individual, but that is not going to help the cause of garnering respect for HS or DeAngelo. As S. Hawaiian says, it is just a matter of Reality. If publicity shots show these two, it just makes their job harder - and everyone elses'.. As Shitty as it sounds, Stephen needs a Real Medical Patient in Need, and/or a Hot Chick Lawyer at his side. Dressed to the 9's. With great Diction.

I have never considered HS the face of the western Movement far from it. The face of the western Movement was Jack Herer...HS has been nothing more then a cannabis walmart IMO..I commend them for risking there freedom but they should have passed on the tv gig...

What's kind of interesting too is that I remember reading an article about how the property that Harborside sits on is owned by a different corporation. But the people who run that are also invested/partners in Harborside. Something to that effect..It''s basically the same group of people.
So there's all kinds of games being played on both sides.
It will be interesting to see how it plays out...

PROTEST PRESIDENT OBAMA'S FUNDRAISER IN OAKLAND, CA ON JULY 23!!

The federal attacks on the medical cannabis community keep coming. Recently, the Department of Justice announced their intention to confiscate two buildings operated by Harborside Health Center in Oakland, CA and in San Jose, CA. This latest attack comes on the heels of other raids, audits, and other intimidation around the state.

Can you please join us on Monday, July 23, to tell President Obama to stop attacking California's medical cannabis patients, cultivators, and providers when he visits the Fox Theater in downtown Oakland?

Harborside Health Center (HHC), Americans For Safe Access (ASA), and others are calling for a peaceful protest to let the President know we want him to stop the federal attack!

Mark your calendar for MONDAY, JULY 23, right now!! The approximate time is 3:30 pm. We will be sending more details soon - including ways to shuttle in patients from outside the area.

Apparently you didn't learn the lesson southpark tried to teach you. Douche milkshake vs turd sandwich. Your answer is vote them out. Their answer is 2 fold. First they provide you with the "choice's" and "I care not who votes, I only care who counts the votes".

Well first off I don't watch southpark but even if I did a satirical cartoon is not where I look to learn life lessons. Second there are more then two choices, it's just you don't hear much about the other choices because they don't have the bankroll to work with that the two you're refering to have. This unfortunately means when it comes time to vote very few people vote for the other choices because they don't know anything about them. I'm not however saying to simply "vote them out". What I'm saying is hold them accountable and if they fall short, then vote them out. This means staying involved all the time rather then voting someone in, kicking back and hope they do what they said they would. It also means that the public needs to educate themselves more on the issues because you can't hold anyone accountable if you don't even know whats going on. Also it means don't just accept what they say. They all lie, one of my favorite jokes/sayings is "How do you tell when a politician is lying? Answer, his/her lips move." When they speak at these town halls and other places where the audience can ask questions we need to be pressing them for definitive answers and not the typical political doublespeak that sounds like alot is being said when nothing is really being said at all.

Now it is true that even though there are a few other choices, effectively there are really only two choices but that doesn't matter if we keep voting them out when they don't serve our will. Eventually they will come to realize if they want to stay in office, they better listen to and serve the will of thier constituency.

I'm down with that. Wherever this President speaks, he should be hounded. And Cali is the best place because that's the front in this crazy "war on drugs". States rights vs Federal control of everything. This government is so big and has overstepped it's bounds so much on a continuing and increasing basis, that the federal government has lost all credibility and is now public enemy #1. If we don't fight back, who will?

no one is saying that the world isn't full if bigots, just that it shouldn't be and at least here lets accept people as they are and not use the bigoted judgmental measuring stick of western society to judge people.

Well it's a well established fact in the realm of the courtroom appearence does matter. Any defense lawyer worth his salt is going to advise you of two things that shouldn't matter in the courtroom but do. One is to dress professionally (suite and tie for men) and try to make sure people are there fore you in the court room. They tell you to dress professionally because like it or not to the judge someone coming to court dressed like a bum says to the judge that this person does not respect the court. The reason for having people there is because if the judge is on the fence about locking you up or letting you go on probation, having people there that care about you and what happens will often cause the judge to lean towards letting you go on probation.

I agree though that they should be able to dress how they want and we as a people should be advanced well beyond the "judging a book by it's cover stage". Alas, sadly, we are not. Some of us are but by and large most people are not that open minded and do judge everyone on all those points SH referenced and many more.

I don't know if you follow NOKUY's threads but recently he had to make a choice, keep flyig his freak flag (keep his dreads) or conform to his parents ideals (cutoff his dreads) and inherit a large sum of money. Well he cut off his dreads. Dreads can be grown back but opportunity only knocks rarely. Sometimes you have to suspend your ideals to get what you want. In this case I would say stephen should put those pigtails under his hat and his brother should not wear the dress, when they're fighting this in court. Stephen can let his pigtails hang out later and his brother can wear a dress anywhere else. I'm not and I doubt SH or anyone else is saying these should be permanent changes but because this case could have far reaching implications that affect alot more then Stephen and his brother they should try to do anything and everything possible (within reason) to insure things go the way they want in court, even if it means giving up a little of their personal comfort temporarily.
