yeah I know a few people who had their shoes stolen in the night...when I stayed at a shelter I took my sneakers and put them inside my pillow case then flipped the pillow over and slept on them. Hey, I woke up with my shoes.
I'll never forget this one guy...it's 6am...everyone is in the locker room and changing or drying off from the showers...and this one guy comes creaking up pushing a shopping cart. The cart is filled with old crumpled newspapers. He unlocks one of the lockers - inside is more crumpled newspapers. He proceeds to take crumpled newspapers from locker and put them in shopping cart, and vice versa. Not sure how he got the shopping cart up there - it was at least the 3rd floor. It's sad how our country/system lets the mentally ill slide in with the homeless or criminal.

Yes, many times!! I was a heroin addict for 18 years...that comes with a price!! I was a true Lowlife...thief, con-artist...all that--
Did motels when I could...slept behind bushes, in vacant houses...even had a "Cave" for a while, in the middle of Anaheim!! Lol
Thankfully I got clean in '96....and now have a house and family...but my former life, as shitty as it was, made me a better person today!!

I got the boot @ 16 lived in some ex cons treehouse till it got cold then stayed with friends until I hustled up enough cash to rent an apt. with a friend. TS

i was emancipated at 16 1/2 old. judge told me if he ever seen me again he could charge me as an adult and send me away longtime. thats how i first was homeless. as i didnt want to see him again , so i hitchinked to florida.. at this age with my certs for mechanics and experience,metal fab and welding among other things. i could start over easilly.plus the horticulture side. everyone asks me for weed where ever i go with tourists.

Yes I have, and hated the false rep shelters, churches, and schools have in God. I believe in Jesus, and the Heavenly father, and never seen that in any of them, I seen more with just common ppl who helped. So I would like to take this time to share with all here, cuz I have yet heard anyone talk about it, and its so great its amazing how few even know about it. This goes out to all those who stuggle on the steets in this system, and for all my peeps here on IC, this info will in power you more than anything ever did, and I send it out in the name of Jesus with true rep, and truth for those who need, here is your game changer in this world.

What I give to you is a way to own your own home, and land without ever making a payment to anyone, and only spending a couple grand. To start off, buy the cheapest land possible, that will have access to water to have a well dug, or do it yourself if not that deep. But the well is in the future, you can handle not having it right off the jump, you could store water, or possible have a clean natural stream you could hook a non electric pump to. I will post a link of all this stuff at the bottom. You can find some cheap land out there, you can pick up 1 acre for 300 bucks somewhere.

Now you have your land, now is the time to break your back willing to sacrifice for a home your great great grandkids can have one day, yes these homes are better than any current home you can buy, but the big kicker here folks, for a 2000sq ft home just walls, and a roof cost maybe 1500, depending on the cost of materials, some find salvaged windows, and doors from remodling, and remember to start off cheap as possible, you will have forever to upgrade once back in the game.

Yes I said 1500, not thousand. And get this your walls will be 16 inch thick, never have to worry about cold in the winter, or heat in summer, the best insulation known. Sound proof, fire proof, and will even stop bullets, plus you can build it to how ever you want it. This is called EARTHBAGGING, or Hyper-adobe, actually old techniques, made better, and is catching on big time in building industry this year alone, and I imagine everyone here will be greatful, I am so greatful, but this info is not mine, but its needed to be everyones, I cant just live better by myself, so this goes out to all the ppl who struggled on the streets, or still do, and all the ppl of the earth who had enough shit from these shit leaders.

Ok, so when you decide to start, you will either be down and out, or barley any money, so please know you will have to sacrifice, humble down, and suck it up thru the down parts, but always remember your reward last forever, and you will be off the grid from paying anyone anymore. And if your down on the streets right now, we I talked to many ppl when I was on the streets, and we had one thing in common, so get all you can together, and work together to buy the land, get thrift store, hand me downs what ever you can tents, propane stove, portable toilet, or compost toilet you can make, and camp out together, and build while you can. Remember these bags you can get at lttle to nothing like 250 bucks for every 700square ft, even less if you use the hyper-adobe methods and bags, but remember Rain is your enemy while building Hyper way, so build fast and put a coat of stucco on before erosion.

So once you do this, guessing you are only two people, but this system can be made bigger, make your own septic system, I will have a link at the bottom how to, and its very cheap less than a couple hundred but you may be able to find the material for dirt cheap craigslist, and keep in mind your land, and water table, understand that part and cut out the permits, and the control YOU place yourself in by asking for someone to do this and charge 12 grand, remember, fuck everyone, your down and out remember, so keep in mind what they dont know dont hurt, we all know this right? Hell even if they came, what can they do? its your land, go out and find it, dig it up then, I dont know many get that they will come for you thinking, how if they never even know you? You can make rain collection, and store grey water for toilet, make it so efficent and green, you may pay less than a few hundred a year to sustain your home.

Now you save for solar power, and you are totally off the grid with your middle finger up, and starting to be free for once. Isnt it great now your at this point, you own the land, just pay taxes, sometimes its only 40 bucks a year, hell pay few thousand when things get good, and you can, and they will never take your shit, you now own your own house no payments, all you pay now is propane gas 200-400 a year, food and now 90% of your income, or more will go into your home, or what ever you want.

For those who want to grow, and think you need electric company, well I cant draw all of it out but you can build a grow room how ever big out of same materials, and use solor skylight tubes, some put off 9000 lumens, use the brain in that one, and depending on how far off the grid you are, and how much land you can grab, you always have outdoors. You can even make a green house in your house, face your house south, and put many windows, you can grow food year round. Now think about it, yes it may seem way out there to think this way, but when or if shit hits the fan, look how you will sit, and it all will start with a simple purchase of land for 300-500 to start out with, hell untill you can save for some bigger land where you want.

I'm simply going to answer the question and say that, yes, I have been homeless. Twice, both times as an adult. I never ventured into a shelter or soup kitchen, I was able to feed myself, but bathing did become a difficult venture at times. Fortunately I was homeless in San Diego, it was easy to get to a beach like Imperial and use the open public showers. Cold, but easy.

Try getting a job without a shower or an address, though.

every time I move. I got a subaru wagon with tint and a sine wave converter. I got used to it from mountain biking, climbing, and caving.....even when I did own a bed I sleep on the floor 95% of the time.

I found a dirt cheap studio with month to month lease in the ghetto that has a decent landlord and tenants....I took it. a few months ago he rented out to a tweeker. Glad he got evicted quick or I was about to start looking elsewhere. He wasn't so bad, it was just the shit bag friends came along with it. Made a point to clean my guns outside, and hang a crowbar by the door.

was a bartender down in Florida many years ago. The beach was my home for 6 months....just didn't seem practical for me to pay rent when you can pass out under an umbrella and get the same effect.
