beautiful scrappy. I got ecsd bud from dude who is growing coco, bio bizz nutes and 600w gavita. and his sour diesel was very lemony, not so much diesel.. I didnt like it. mine is heavy diesel all the time.. it depends on how you grow it. in greenhouse it can be little bit different depends on season, depends on weather and temps.. also look at terp chart of sour diesel. there is good amount of limonene, so... :D

My aj cut smells exactly like scrappy do described it tropical fruity to me early in flower. Then it gets the diesel funk..just a bud there is no tropical fruity its all just sour diesel skunk funk chemmy.

This ecsd i have in flower right now day 32 smells like zesty lemons damn near beaster to me. Will be interesting to see how she develops.

I also sourced another ecsd cut from a guy that got it personally from Chaco so just waiting on a clone to take so i can flower that to.

This is from Rez in one of the Alpha Diesel threads...

"Alpha is an inbred Sour Diesel seed. In order to make Sour Diesel seeds, with only, initially, the ECSD Clone, I needed (and used) a chosen (out-cross) Mom, then I back-crossed and in-crossed (while testing, testing, testing!) and selected-for-traits into a full-blown inbred line with the Sour Diesel Clone as the base. The seed line called Sour Diesel IBL. Many different selections have been made over the years in an effort to "tweak" Sour Diesel and actually improve it-not to just try and "copy" the original clone. The original SD clone has a tendency to be very light and (depending on methodology) nutrient sensitive-for Maximum Results, you have to really "dial-in" the Sour Diesel Clone. By selecting against these traits, one hopes one would be able to improve the line. In the case of Sour Diesel, I know it to be true. Alpha Diesel is some serious "diesel" genetics, and it's fairly "bottlenecked" in its pedigree towards all the sour diesel favorable traits. I'd not recommend in-crossing it, from My Notes, but as an out-cross parent in a Project, against a good solid indica, it's a good, safe bet to recombine exceeding expectations." Alpha Diesel was first strain which i smoked from Rez and i remember this day very well- taste was little bit lemony for sure but maybe 5% total - so not dominant

I found this quote from JJ NYC posted in 2 different DNL threads, though I haven't been able to find the original quote. I put the relevant info in bold:

"After a little more research I found out that the DNL has it's roots traced back to a bag of skunk that was bought at a RFK Dead show. The Skunk was grown in the local college town. Seeds were found and grown out. Skunk #1,#2,#3 came out of these seeds. The best skunk was crossed to a Hawaiian. The Skunk/Hawaiian was crossed with Northern Lights. The result was called DNL because people thought it was Diesel/NL. The DNL has a skunky, tropical funk to it. Great taste, a little light on the head but a happy up high. It grows tall and vigorous, just like the Sour Diesel. The Sour also has hints of the tropical funk found in the DNL. That's why I now believe the Sour Diesel is the 91 Chem Dawg X DNL"

It's like lemon candy to my nose but fruity or tropical funk work as well.

On the AJ I get the tropical fruit smell but to me it's not lemon, more like passionfruit. I have a cross by blueblood genetics of Hippy Slayer x Trendkiller that is like pure lemon cleaner in flower. She made your eyes water, once cured she reeks of raw onions.

I just got the AJ cut recently and should be flowering it soon. My impression so far in veg, it’s got some skinny toothpick branches. Lol.

A much smaller quote from Rez on Alpha and Omega diesel

If I've said it once,I've said it a thousand fucking times:
Alpha Diesel and Omega Diesel are both back-crosses of different Sour Diesel IBL father(s) to The Sour Diesel Clone.

Anyone know what cut I aquired in Pueblo in 06 or 07? I was given in by an overgrow member as sour d. The finished product looked identical to ecsd pictures in high times around the same time. Some people around town also called it dogpatch desiel (named after the neighborhood they were growing it).

That is the one I cannot find. Here in Michigan I have not smoked the same cut. Most have barely resembles it. It was a tall stretchy plant, finished 11-12 weeks. Loose looking clusters of buds that were actually denser than the appeared. The flavor was hard to describe. Almost like earth or soil on the inhale and then something magical happened and it changed into this sour unidentified citrus fuel type taste that at the time nothing even remotely tasted anything like. At least not in my circle at that time.

I have noticed hints of it in several different strains. The closest was a rez ecsd but it was weak in comparison and I only had one female plant.

Some shots of my ecsd at 49. I kinda stressed it and gave it a little too much p. First time with the strain and coco both so I'm learning it... Since it got stressed it shot out a little set of new leaf up on the very top.

Just because you mentioned Pueblo I would assume it was Chacos Ecsd cut. The southwest really was the epicenter of that particular cut

Hey Strugeon! How did that ecsd come out in terms of taste and high? Looks bomb, but slightly different than what I'd expect from ecsd

I've still got her hanging to dry. Haven't even tried a sample yet. I will say I took her earlier than I had hoped but I had to get these others in before height became an issue. Smell wise it's definitely sour. Had a sweet smell most of the grow but then around 50 ish the sour started to come out.
