Hey guys hows it going?? Been a busy week around here keeping up with the wife's honey do list and stayin gout of the heat.

ganjygav Hey brother. Sorry to hear ya still having germination issues. Its hard not to go poking around looking after a week or so. You just have to resist. I use rock wool cubes. They maintain almost a perfect water to Ox ratio when sprayed so rarely have problem with them drowning. I have also had good luck with rapid rooters. Just be patient and I think they will show up.

Your going to be happy with the NL. Its a good all around smoke.

BobbleheadJed Welcome.:tiphat: and thanks for the props.

Brother Useful swears the WR has changed and he is a top notch grower. So I would tend to believe him.

I can tell you for a fact that the Mango has changed. It was very popular back in the days of OG. Those cats would have flamed the shit out of it if it had hermi issues back then. So I can guarantee you that its not the same. Weather its age, new selections, or what I don't know but OGers would not have stood for hermis. Bank on that!

I love Mandala!!! There hashberry and Kalichakra both were outstanding. I think Mandala Mike is sick the reason for the hiatus. They are some great folks with outstanding genetics at very reasonable prices. Let hope they are back next year revitalized and ready to go. If Mike is sick prayers out to him

Customs can be a bitch. Sounds like you have worse luck than most. Some folks that have there mail coming through the Chicago terminal had been reporting Higher than normal confiscations. You may look at some of the stateside seed banks. At least there will not be any customs to clear.

Whats up Jhhnn??

You may be right about headspace but I believe that some of the older lines have changed. I have heard this to many times from well respected grower for it not to be true. It seems to reason. Its a high probability that parent stock will be lost and new selections would have to be made to continue the old lines.

Making your own seed stock is advisable for sure. Its the only true way of ensuring long term seed availability.

I can understand your unwillingness to keep mothers based on plant counts and legality but it is by far the easiest way to keep a high quality garden with little down time between runs.

In my experience the clones are usually better than the original seed mother. Typically a little more potent, shorter flowering time by a couple of weeks and NO GUESSING.

The 2nd or 3rd run on a clone you have it dialed in.

Tends to make for a hassle free grow with better results than from seed where your guessing about nute requirements and every other aspect of the grow.

Well Im off to tend to some of the wife's chores.

have a great day.

I hear you, M.R.GT. My point about the yewstabees is that we can only get what we can get so there's no point in going on about it. I try to stay in the Now.

It's a long story, but I was away from the cannabis scene for 25 years. With the happy coincidence of retirement & A64, I took up growing as a hobby. I missed a lot & have a lot to learn about modern cannabis, so I'm exploring, catching up, trying different kinds. That mostly means growing from seed. When I get it right, we have more than we need & the only reason I get anxious to move ahead is to try something new.

The current batch will theoretically be ready in 2 weeks, the high end of the breeder's claim of 8-9 weeks flowering. It may well need to go longer as the pistils are all still yellowish white, no change at all, still flowering, kinda starting to foxtail a little on some. I'll check the trichomes at 30x before I chop anything.

Then I'll pull out the reflector, work it over to accept two 315w lamps, get that dialed in & set up my blumat manifolds, get that dialed in, start a new batch of 12. Success with blumats & your experience leads me to lean towards doing that right in the soil in 1 gal airpots.

Maybe I'm trying to save money on seeds because I've spent a lot on everything else. It's still cheaper than hotrods or Harleys & there seems to be enough money for everything else that needs to be taken care of, so why not?

I want to get past some of the problems I've had by improving the technology & my technique, use that as a foundation. I think I'm on track w/ the new soil mix & the blumats. Improvement so far is astounding, humbling in a way. I thought I knew more than I really did, that's for sure. If the 315's work as well as I hope, I'll be on track to better temperature control & reduced power consumption as well.

It's ok GT I've got 2 good little plants out of the seeds and yeah I've never smoked NL so looking forward to that but my seedlings have company in the tent now. I was very kindly donated 3 cuts of gg#4 yesterday. Extremely happy at the moment even though it was a bit of a nightmare getting the cuts home, broke down on the motorway on the way home with the cuts. 6 hrs beside a busy motorway in the heat,I was convinced the cuts would die.

Good morning all!!

Hey GG That is to cool. GG4 for GG. Cuts are pretty tough so im sure you will be ok.

Good thing the PoPo didn't stop by and check on you. that could have been ugly.

You will enjoy both the GG and the NL. they are both top shelf smoke.

You have a kind friend indeed. Those GG4's are pretty prized cuts. I hope to have a go at myself in the near future.

Hey Jhhnn Hows your day going?

I also took about a 10 year hiatus from growing. There are so many new strains and techniques that's it hard to sort out.

Just the current cost of seed was a little bit shocking. Then trying to sort out what strains are what is a trick in itself. there is so much more out there now. Select cuts, designer hybrids and what not it can all be just abit overwhelming. back in the day you would look at a seed list from say CC and there would be maybe 10 strains. Today you look at a breeder like Bodhi and there are 100's not including everyone else's gear.

I used to grow exclusively from seed. Then you find that 1 super plant and you end up kicking yourself for not taking a cut. Mine was a Lemon Thai Sat Pheno. You only get 1 shot at it.

I agree variety is the spice of life but you always remember that one that got away.

Now I like to do both. Nothing better than cracking seeds. they are like cracker jacks always a hidden prize.

Now I take cuts and try and give each strains a good opportunity to impress before I move on.

We have many similarities as I only grow for myself. Its not hard to grow more than I can smoke so I never get bent around the wheel about yield per watt and all that crap. I do try and keep those few that are superior to 90% of the others just in case I want to go back down that road.

Cuts also make it easier to make seeds. I can always drop in 3 or 4 select cuts and then stick in a good male and whaala I have crosses. They may turn out great or they may be shit but sure is fun.

Cuts will never replace seed that's for damn sure. We all should be making and gifting seeds out to friends. Only true way to ensure lines are not lost. I truly believe seeds should be gifted, traded rather than sold for outrageous prices.

To quote a great friend "Spread the Love"!!:tiphat: You know who you are are!!!!!

Oh yes GT I was very aware of the chances of that happening, while I was at the location I received the cuts there was police officers in the carpark. I was so paranoid particularly when walking back to the car across the car park. The fear of the plod pulling up to us on the motorway was soon replaced by fear my cuts would die haha. No they seem fine, reacted to the light by standing up again so I'm pleased. Yeah I feel very lucky to have received the cuts and I finally get to grow out something the Americans rave about. Still not tried gsc,I only read good things about gg#4. I also enjoy growing from seed,a pack of 5 seeds normally throw out some treats pheno wise, also all of the seeds nearly always produce different results. Better because who wants to smoke the same bud until ya next crop? I've just been having some bad luck with seeds recently and I'm beginning to fear I'm loosing my touch when it comes to germination.

Hey GG

Definitely make your pucker factor go up.

Im pretty sure your going to be happy with the GG4. I haven't had a chance to try it out either.

Funny how that works. Your in the UK and Im in the States and you have an easier time getting it than I do.

Kind of like yall can have all the seeds you want but you cant grow. RIGHT!!! Im not growing!!:biggrin:I just collect seeds, Trust me!!

Take care GG and enjoy those GG's. I just like saying GG!!

M.R.GT, GLG has Cantaloupe Skunk seeds for $ 30 a pack right now, and it's a good strain. I think that's about as economy as you can get these days. The genetics are suppose to be old skool, (I'm too young to know what that is), but I know I like them. So does my Uncle Mike who's a patchouli wearning hippie chick banging crazy old fart. He says its the real deal.

Het there M.R. GT. I totally am with you on the seed stash. I love a good cut of something. But we all know that special cuts come from seeds. I LOVE the pheno hunt myself, and have found a good 1 or 2. Gotta have my seeds. Also, "spread the love" is a very simple, and positive statement. I like it. I hope you are keeping hydrated...it's rather hot in your neck of the woods.

You crack me up...ok...I have found a few keepers. LOL. Thanks a bunch for the props GT. But I must admit that 3 of the cuts I have in my possession came from some folks that believe in that thing you said in your previous post. "spread the love" If it wasn't for that...I would not have GG#4, Sour Tsunami, and Gorilla Bubble. I am humbled by the giving nature of perfect strangers. I also know that you M.R. GT have that same spirit, and giving nature. I'm honored to have you as my friend. Sorry if I sidetracked your thread for a bit...but some things just need to be said. AT EASE!!

Hey Brother Useful, you deserve all the props that can be heaped upon you.

You know that your leading the way "Spreading the Love" where ever you go. Im just following your lead.

There are definitely some fine folks on IC that still hold that value close to heart. To all a hardy THANK YOU!!!

There is no reason to be humble. You have some fine gear rolling over there. Every time I check out your thread I end up drooling!!:tiphat:

If my garden looked like that I would be walking around like a Proud Poppa.

Have great day brother and continue " Spreading the love"!!

I found some Chem 91 Bx3-F2s over at the other bay place for $45/10 seeds.
(edit) From Insane Seed Posse

Haven't seen any grows but it sure sounds like it could be a winner for the Chem lovers waiting for other releases.

This is an awesome thread MrGT and everybody participating. Keep up the awareness of these bargain bins.

Auctions, overall, seem to be the best places for the best deals, ime. My absolute cheapest seeds came from a Mr Nice cleanup auction. If I recall correctly I picked up about 60 seeds of Master KAZE for around $30USD.
The three plants I've grown so far were awesome Sativa dom high types with berries n spice aromas.

That sounds like one hell of a deal you scored on MR nice cleanup.

Great call on the auction support the site and score a deal. WIN WIN situation.

Take care and have a great day.
