douchestubbler, props to you sir. I've been interested in doing a PC bubbler grow so I'm very interested in this thread!

Can I ask, how much noise does the air pump and the bubbles themselves produce? Is this noticable when the PC case is shut?

The air pump is the loudest part of the system, but I bought a somewhat quiet one. It was only 11.99, and has rubber feet to reduce noise. It is on top of my system, and I can hardly hear it with the door to my closet closed. I can't even hear the bubbles with the lid to the reservoir on. And the ambient fan noise drowns out any other noise. It sounds like a computer. I hope that helped.

so, it turns out late december I am going to be out of town for a few days. What should I do about my plants then? What should I do about the water pH? it always goes up, and I don't want it to get to a point where it will kill my plants. I have a lot of time to plan, and I am sure my plants will be much bigger by then, I just dont want to kill them that far into their growth.

The cotyledons of both plants are starting to yellow, so I mixed up a 1/4 nutrient solution which I am starting them on tomorrow.

Hello all, it is time to do
WEEK 2 UPDATES!

It has been an uneventful week. I am loving watching my plants grow.
I started 1/4 nutes today. Both of the plants have yellowing cotyledons.

Here is my setup currently. Before this picture there was a beta tape under the res also. it just made it too hard to take one of the pots out without hurting the roots.

thanks much b1onary. I am loving the hydro so far. I test it twice daily, and only have to adjust it once every 2 days or so. Not as much work as I thought it was going to be

My first grow took 21 days to start showing sex. Some genetics just show faster than others. Either way, I think you'll get a female out of the group...

Here's the shot I took of an early female flower...


The pic is sideways, but if you'll look on the right, you'll see the top node of the plant. One node below that is a good place to start looking for flowers...

Are those 25W CFL's enough for a pc grow? They should be giving out about 1500 lumens of light.
I'm constructing a growcase now and I was thinking about 2x25W (cause I can't find more powerfull bulbs here).
Also I can't find cfl's above 6000K color temp, the highest I found was 5500, would this color temp be good for vegging?

5500k would be fine for vegging. I don't know how much of a difference 100 lumens is but I think 25 watt cfl bulbs are around 1600-1700 lumens per bulb.

It's time for WEEK 3 UPDATES! WHOO
It has been a GREAT week. These girls (knock on wood) are looking great. They are responding extremely well to the nutes. You can notice the difference in the plants overall. Different heights and colors. I started Awesome Blossoms nutrient solution yesterday, and I am seeing some definite bud growth today. No balls so far! But it seems no hairs either. The suspense is killing me.

I'm beginning to think they are both males...
Do I still have some time to wait? They haven't shown any hairs yet, but the budsites haven't shown much growth. I'd say there is a millimeter or less of growth of something there. Would I have seen a hair or two by now?

I think you'll just have to be patient. It looks like your plants are still doing veg growth, not flowering growth. Even though you are "flowering" from seed, your plants are growing vegitatively right now since they are so young. Just my 2 cents from reading 12/12 from seed grow diaries, though. Nice looking plants btw. Don't stress! You have 2 50/50 chances of getting a female!

Alright. I just looked at the sites again, and it now looks like they are leaves growing out of them. Definitely still vegetative growth. Sorry about that.

Abby, up close on best node. I think these are just leaves, and as soon as it starts to bud, i am going to try to take a picture every day.

Still nothing on Abby, who is the older seedling. I think she* may have been through a lot of stress? She* is nearly 4 days older and not showing any signs of sex at all. I'll give her* a few more days.
