Douchestubbler's FIRST grow - PC Grow

Pulled one of the seedlings today. I hadn't seen any growth in about 2 days. I have another one in there already though. A sprout that looks like it is going to grow really well.
The other seedling, however, started sprouting its second set of serrated leaves. :woohoo:

I can't seem to get a good picture. My camera makes it blurry when I try to take a close shot, even from far away with zoom. Once I get my dads camera, I'll try some more.
Thanks for the interest though!

Got some new photos.

The new seedling. Has been growing great. This is only after about a day and a half!

The older seedling. Looking wonderful. Still developing its second set of serrated leaves.

Today is the end of week 1!
When should I start giving my plants nutes? and at what strengths?
Nutes are BC Bloom, BC Boost, Awesome Blossoms, and Thrive Alive B1.

My 1 Fl. Oz grow

The older seedling. Why is it curved? I dunno. I think it is a indica dominated seedling.

The younger seedling. I think it is a sativa dominant seedling.

The younger, sativa seedling.

Looks kind of like a bird or something. But it is much shorter, and seemingly thicker. But that is just my stoned observation.

More seedlings I am starting for friends.

Nutes

My whole set up.
The toy safe thing is my germination chamber. The blue thing on top is the air pump.

What can I do about stretch in that one seedling?
When do I start nutes?
Any input/comments are highly welcomed.
THANKS

Should I give them nutes on the start of week 3? I'm thinking about starting 1/4 strength nutes then. Bad idea?
Basically my plan is:
• Week 1
o Distilled water, no nutes
• Week 2
o Distilled water, no nutes
• Week 3 (1/4 strength)
o 5.5 mL BC BOOST
o 5.5 mL BC BLOOM
o 2 mL Thrive Alive B1 Red
• Week 4 (1/3 strength)
o 7.5 mL BC BOOST
o 7.5 mL BC BLOOM
o 2.5 mL Thrive Alive B1 Red
• Week 5 (1/2 strength)
o 11.5mL BC BOOST
o 11.5mL BC BLOOM
o 4 mL Awesome Blossoms
o 2 mL Thrive Alive B1
• Week 6 and on:
o Full nutes

What do I need to change? By this schedule, I start 1/4 strength on sunday.

Putting timetables on plants can lead to trouble, so it's best to use the plant as an instrument to measure it's own needs...

For instance, when to feed...
Once you see the cotyledons beginning to turn yellow, it is time to apply a light dose of nutrients.

Stretch can be eliminated by moving your lights closer to your seedlings. In your case, you might place items underneath your res to raise it closer to your lights...

Awesome setup, by the way. PC grows are always interesting...

+1 nug!

That is exactly what I needed to know. Thank you very much. When I see that, should I start half or 1/4 strength?

Looking good so far Douchestubbler. Take some CD/DVD, PC Game cases, or even books and throw em under that res like panopticist said. Your plants will love you for it :)

And since they're still seedlings, id suggest quarter strength till they're a bit bigger.

Are you going to be using some form of LST or scrog to keep them manageable in the case?

unfortunately, some of my fan wiring is in the way....
I could only raise it about an inch and a half. That is going to be reworked next round. Will the stem ever fill in under the first set of leaves? or will it just be a stem? I don't have many options, unfortunately.
This grow is a straight up grow, 12/12 from seed. I am not going to try LST or SCROG this time. I want something to compare them to, and I am trying to just keep it as simple as possible for my first grow.
I wish I could ask Dwight Schroot or J1MH4LP3RT for their advice on the seedling stretch, their grow was similar to mine.

It'll just be a stem...

That's an issue I ran into on my last grow, I let the plants stretch too much and they had a relatively long stem before it began to branch out...

See? It just decreases the amount of space you have for bud growth...

The younger, sativa seedling.

can you really tell weather its going to be sativa/indica at this point in time...?

@bongasaurus:
Doubtful, unless you know the lineage of said seed. Even then, phenotypical differences can come into play...

Only time will tell...

I'm calling them sativa and indica due to my experience with the bag they came from.
And I guess I could always just put the rockwool cube further down in the hydroton clay. They are sitting on about an inch right now.

I put a new exhaust fan in my system, one with variable controls. It is far faster than the original fan, so hopefully it will create a vacuum inside the system. The new fan also had a longer cord, so it enabled me to raise my reservoir much higher. The plants are much, much closer to the lights.
I am also considering killing the older seedling. It didn't have one of the original circular leaves (cant remember the name right now), so I think that has stunted its growth. Advice? It is my oldest seedling, but right now, it is being dwarfed by my young seedling.

douchestubbler, props to you sir. I've been interested in doing a PC bubbler grow so I'm very interested in this thread!

Can I ask, how much noise does the air pump and the bubbles themselves produce? Is this noticable when the PC case is shut?

Cheers man, k+
