For those who may be struggling to find the best sprinkler, mister, microspray etc...

I'm using a standard .99 lawn sprinkler in each corner about 3 inches below the lid of a typical rubbermaid tub. Works better and more reliable than any of others. They do not clog nor require much pressure to work properly. Easier to mount, no drilling. Makes fat roots.

You have in pictures whats a .99 lawn sprinkler google comes up with nothing...?

I've been asked to post these pics of my clone sprayer. It performs flawlessly and far cheaper and easier to build than any yet. Utilizes four quarter coverage flush lawn sprinklers in each corner. They cost $.69 at HDepot. The whole thing is 1/2" pvc. A 250gph pump is ample. The fitting for securing the clone is a 1/2" male adapter in gray electrical pvc. This fitting had a more defined flange than the white pvc equivilant for resting on the lid. A 7/8" hole fits it in the lid. A scrap of spongy rubber secures the clone, don't squeeze it in. Just resting it is all that is necessary. Stem should dangle about an inch or 2 below fitting.

I have a hard time believing that you get roots with that unit Bonzo. You don't want light where you are trying to grow roots, the clear EZ-Cloners are for display only. I had built a new cloner a few months ago and kept getting root bumps but no roots (even after 14 days @ 78f) - turned out the problem was that too much light was getting in through the light and making it to where the roots thought they were growing above ground.
howdy colo...which unit? i dont remember ever making a clear "ez-cloner" but i did make a xouple clear "bubbler" cloners and yes...plenty of roots :)

First off I have to say thank you to OEM poster (or to the person with the original idea) it is really ingenious design and I have yet to use mine for cloning but it kicks up a spray like you would not believe.

Right on too with the tap set..much easier to drill out and tap threads into pvc..initally I tried to just drill and tried to screw mister heads in...yeah good luck with that...ya need a kung fu grip.

My only issue (and a friend of mine who built one too) is leaking around the lid of the container. It is not pouring water all over the place but enough that a drip turns into gallons and could mess up the water pump..no water means a problem. So many containers have lids where the lip is on the outside...trying to find one that in receased if that makes sense is impossible. The pump, manifold w/ misters work great just the container sucks.

Happen to be over someones house and saw an OLD coleman cooler (flat top lid...before they started molding spots for cans in the lid) and thought this would be the perfect solution...no way in hell will water leak from around the lid on that sucker...time to bust out the drill again.
Also think rez temps would stay pretty damn steady.
One more thing coleman cooler is also nice because it has a drain plug built in...nice to change the water out easily.

This thread was such a modivational thread that I went out and made myself an ez cloner of my own! I love it! I see roots in 5 days I use straight up tap water, make sure my PH is at 5.5 and the set it and forget it for a few days... Thank you to who ever started this thread :) I took me a while to decide if I was going to do this and I'm glad I did... I will take pictures and post to give you an idea on how I did mine :) Thanks again no more cubes to mess with !

always happy to see folks do it themselves, save a few bucks, get roots quickly and easily, and get the fun of building your own grow equipment :) awesome to see so many have checked out this little guide, nearly 300,000! hope the EZ-cloner company isn't too mad at me :p peace n green thumbs all :)

For anyone that is deciding what to use as plug for the holes in the lid. How about the bottom from a Styrofoam cup? You can cut it higher or lower to fit the size of your hole. That stuff is cheap compared to all the other stuff I see people using in this thread. Especially if there is a $1 store close to where you live. I think I saw a pack of 45 for $1.49.

styrofoam would probably work just fine, but over time I think it'd flake off into the smaller pieces it's made of and end up being more trouble than it's worth.. the noodle foam, or those foam mats are probably quite a bit more durable for the small extra cost it would be to make them..

k33ftr33z, my buddy tried your idea with the 4 sprinklers and tried his Chem BX2 cuttings that he can't even get to root after a full month in soil or rockwool and got roots with it in 11 days.. He sends his love. I'm sure the mister-based work just as well but those 4 sprinklers with the right threaded adapters were much easier to install than drilling out 10 holes in PVC for misters.. He didn't even seal the joints like you did and using a danner 250 mag none of the joints have separated.. Not that any of this is difficult shit, but he just figured he'd go with the simplest route first to see if he could get those chems to rock.. And they did..

Just found a 24 hour mechanical timer at Harbor freight for $5.00 It will run 15 min on 15 min off. I just pluged it in. My water temps are around 83 f so I hope the timer helps lower the temp. no roots yet but only day three. the smallest of a bump starting on the very tip :)

I set one up .. Leaks bad! Perhaps a 350ghp pump is too much for a 20gal tote? I'm using a rough neck with weather stripping and the edges of the foam are hot glued so water doesnt leak under it but still leaks .. About 1/2gal-1gal every day :-/

What's your thoughts icMagers? Bigger tote? Smaller pump? Arrange the sprayers different? I heard of putting the PVC up to the edge and pointing the sprayers down? Thoughts?

I use an 18gal tote and a 250gph pump with 10 sprayers and its more than enough. If I were you.. I would take the lid off and let it run and make note of how high your water is spraying. Try to find the sweet spot where its still good for the stems coming down but not blasting the lid from the inside. After you make note of how much higher that sweet spot is over the top of the tote, just cut down your leg/legs of your pvc to make the manifold shorter.

But yea.. if for whatever reason you can't make it work.. you can always get the 180 degree sprayers and run the pvc against the outer lip and just have the sprayers aiming in.

I like the idea of cutting holes in the base of the cloner and putting the cloner in a slightly larger tub. Leaks will fall into the outside tub and be recirculated.
