My lid leaks like crazy. All the way around and it's a "Roughneck".
I have tried two different lids and i even shortened "Up" tupe from the pump.
I give up. The plywood closet floor is at risk.
I am gonna buy a TurboKlone.
But I'm real happy for all you folks who have good luck with your systems.

First off this thread should be in its own section so its easier to find......"Propagation" would work, didnt there used to be one??

Got some Q's

-I am trying to build a smaller setup, I only need ten plants and I'd like to build a 20-30 site cloner. I am planning on picking up the 18 gallon rubber maid, can I use a 240gph pump if I use less misters???

-What does my veg time need to be? Can I use 18/6??

-No gels, no dome, correct? Should I use hydroguard if I am worried about bacteria??? And if I use hydrogaurd I don't have to change my water the entire process as long as it takes under a week and a half or so correct?

-RO water ok? If I should use any nutrients, I suppose it would be base A and B at a low PPM, or none at all?

Yes I could spend all day and look through the thread for these answers I'm sure, I just don't have time. If someone could chime in that knows for sure that would be great and much appreciated! Love the thread, thanks for any help!

Yeah.

Use Rapid Rooters
and you won't have to deal with any of the above.

Dude this isnt a rapid rooter thread and I'm sure people don't want you to put down an idea that doesn actually work. I've tried rapid rooters, I've had 100% success rate....Then 50%, then 0%. Shit changes, people need to adapt and evolve....I know you might be getting great results with rapid rooters, but you seem like you are trying to market and promote them lol.

I get it, rapid rooters work. So does this aerocloner and this is what the thread is for. If you can maybe help with the questions about the ez cloner that would be great. Thanks

You will be hard pressed to get the desired answers because most (including myself) who have been using the Aero Cloner concept have realized there are much easier and efficient ways to do it hence much less questions to ask & things that can (and do) go wrong >>> see your questions.

Greetings all:wave:,

This thread was what led me to join this forum so I figured it's only right to share my findings while toying around with my own DIY aero cloner.

I could not for the life of me figure how to stop these things from leaking. I tried, weather stripping, closed cell foam tape, molding, etc. None of them worked, I always seemed to end up with a leaky lid somehow. I then clued in on the EZ cloner lip design that redirects the water back into the res. I flipped the lid upside down on my cloner and voila! No more leaks. I'm using an 18Gl roughneck tote. I think all the lids are the same on these roughneck totes, regardless of size. Hopefully this hasn't been covered yet and will help somebody.

Great thread

BIG respect to kingralph and everyone .
:thank you::thank you::thank you:
After making and messing about with aero and bubble i can tell aero is quicker .
One inch holes drilled in top & clones held by foam pipe insulaton is a neat trick passed on to me passing on to you .
RESPECT .

p!

Yes that pump would probably be fine. I've used a 240 on a 30 site in a 18 gal with 10 misters and it worked fine. If you turn it on and the sprayers dont spray all the way, then yea up the pump.

You should use tap water. The stuff that is in tap water will feed what little they need, and more importantly, it already has shit in it to keep bacteria away. If you use RO you're just going to have to add it back in.

I always get 100% with my DIY aero cloner only using tap with no hood or gels or solution or anything. I don't change the water or anything. Pop roots in 5-7 days and have 12" roots in 12-14 days. EVERYTIME. In fact, I've gotten so lazy with my clones.. I don't really ever check them anymore after I load them. Maybe one time if I'm already in there working, but usually I just go back and get them when I need them and they are all ready.

I don't even go overboard cleaning it anymore. When I'm done I just throw it all in the sink and clean everything with hot soapy water like I'm doing dishes. Then after I get it all nice and clean it just sits in a corner till next run.

I see i'm going to have to build one of these or something similar as the EZ Cloner hits my pockets a little too much. I will also have to go through this thread and read more of what was said, 61 pages and lots of info. i'm sure. Ya'll take care 1

Make sure you buy one of those timer-thingees that you plug your submersable pump power cord into that turns the pump on for one minute and off for four minutes which will keep your res water temps down.

I have a hard time believing that you get roots with that unit Bonzo. You don't want light where you are trying to grow roots, the clear EZ-Cloners are for display only. I had built a new cloner a few months ago and kept getting root bumps but no roots (even after 14 days @ 78f) - turned out the problem was that too much light was getting in through the light and making it to where the roots thought they were growing above ground.

i use one very similar and run no nutes whatsoever and just plain no r.o. or dechlorinated water, just straight tap water w root hormones of whatever type, usually dip n grow

Thanks for the tutorial. I'm using just a simple root riot, tray/dome setup presently and it's working. But I may switch. Nice to have the instructions laying around!

standard sprinklers for cloning

standard sprinklers for cloning

For those who may be struggling to find the best sprinkler, mister, microspray etc...

I'm using a standard .99 lawn sprinkler in each corner about 3 inches below the lid of a typical rubbermaid tub. Works better and more reliable than any of others. They do not clog nor require much pressure to work properly. Easier to mount, no drilling. Makes fat roots.

Yo guys, High to all

Its been 5 days since i gotten my first 2 cuts on the cloner to test it out. I cheched on them yesterday and they didnt show any sign of roots forming.
The misting process works fine and the water temp is about 23-24 ° Celsius. Im using straigh tap water with PH-. I figured out there was a bit too much light getting though the res walls so i covered it yesterday.
I see different opinions on the optimal PH level you should have in the water so i got a bit confused, 7,4 or 6/5.8?
I want to change the water today and would like to have it at the Right ph, I seriously need this thing to get dialed in!
Hope someone helps me out. Thanks in advance.

So basically, you could just use a 120 gpm pump and just scale down the pvc pipe as well, and you could put this in like a 5 gallon tub...maybe even smaller right.
