Nice work ss. i think you'll do okay on the pottin. you got some healthy lookin clones to work with. they'll bounce back just fine.
i'm at 4-5 days now and not seein a whole lot just yet. at least it doesn't leak. heheh

My fave place to purchase clones uses an aero cloner. I leave the clones in little paper cups with water for the first night (24 hour light-I use 1000w fluoro). Then plant in dirt, keeping moist for 2-3 days of 24 light. Then go to regular veg pattern.

I have a better survival rate with the aero clones than others, 9 out of 10 at least.

Getting ready to start up our system for spring babies.

It is going to be interesting to see what the transplant survival rate will be. It has to be quite a shock for the roots to be immersed in soil.

After using a bubble cloner for a year Ive found that IME the survival rate going from water to soil is pretty good, about 90% in my case. Just keep them nice and saturated for about 305 days and then water as usual :D

Best of luck

at 7 days now and 80% have roots. the cuts i started with were mostly from the top of the mother so all in all i'd say pretty successful. this cloner is definately a keeper. fits my lazy ass lifestyle. heheh

So far I'm still at 100% survival of the clones. I'm keeping the soil fairly moist so as not to stress them any further, and I also have my heating pad underneath. Seems to be a good combo so far.

It was so much easier then plugging each one into a puck or other medium, just dip and stick! So far I am very impressed with aero growing, and may have to take this up a notch and implement something into the flower room.

Future build....

i agree with ya stealthsniper. i'm thinkin about riggin up a 5 gal pail with 2 misters mounted about a 1/4 of the way down from the top. have'nt seen it done but it might be a way around the rootsgrowin over the misters. i got the parts, i just need the time.lol

Let me know when you start building that, it'll be interesting to follow!

I'm still at 100% survival rate with the clones. I added 25% perlite to the soil, and am having to water 1 1/2 days apart. Definitely draining through and drying out quicker then the last set. It may mean for a little more work watering, but worth it.

Here's a couple pics from 2 days ago:

Have an awesome day!

So far, 100% clone survival! They did take a little longer to recover from the transplant, but are doing well. I was using RO water, and noticed the plants started showing a magnesium deficiency, at this early of an age. I switched back to tap water, and they recovered very quickly. It's now time to transplant up to 1 gallon pots.

I am very happy with this method of cloning. Maybe I should build a few more of these and start clone farming!! :chin:

Here's a shot of my babies this morning:

nice workk ss. healthy lookin ladies ya got there. i went 23 for 24. i still have the stubborn lil girl in there just to see how long she'll take. the 23 potted ones look good too. they like the humidifier runnin in the room, lol.
i still got some annual and perennial cuts in the tub so it's still gettin plenty of use.
i don't think i'll ever go back to the old days of cutting. this is just way to easy, lol. i have 10 plants from seed (been alotta years since i grew seeds, heheh) that i'll be cuttin and sexin soon so the tub will be in use for forseeable future as well. after buildin this i'm takin a very hard look at hydro for future grows and will probably have it ready to go on the next grow. it'll be a whole new learnin experience i know but i ain't gittin any younger neetha. peace.

I don't think I'll ever clone in soil again, unless it's just for a few that I don't want to run the big cloner. Here's a pic of them starting to grow up a little...:)

hi guys ,

first of all , congrats for these good lookink results

i have to ask a stupid question (not american nor english so everything isn t easy to understand here)

Is R/O water , water who s been filtered ? if not what is it then?

seaofvert - Basically, YES. R.O. stands for "Reverse Osmosis" it is a type of filter that forces water very slowly under pressure thru a membrane. In doing so, virtually all foreign matter is removed, including pathogens. Generally, the filters are set up with three or four stages in which each one performs a specific function.

A very cheap alternative for the small scale grower is to purchase steam-distilled water, or check out the link in my signature for another cheap home based filter option.

thx pipedream,

this answer leads me to another question .
when using h2o2 to clean up your system do you have to remove plants from the system or is it possible to use it with plants in the system ?

if possible on what level (amount ) is h2o2 harmful to plants ? how often shall it be used ?

i m considering building the same type of aero cloner as seen here plus a bio bucket system for vegging and flowering and i d like to make sure to make as less mistakes as possible .

and of course a final question to everyone;

when using air stones in hydro systems don t u have troubles with salts blocking the stone holes and making it useless?

if it is the case , what is the solution ?
changing the stone , adding a special products or.....?

this site is really full of advices i m really glad to be part of it and thanks to everyone helping everyone else .

H2O2, Hydrogen Peroxide, is a bleach. As such, it will kill all organic living matter if it is used in high enough concentration. It can be so strong, that for many women it is the source of their light blonde hair. However, when diluted, it is an ideal anti-bacterial that will keep you reservoir nice and healthy even while plants are living in the system. I purchase it at the 3% level which is available at any drugstore or supermarket or Dollar Store .For cleaning of equipment and materials between uses, I use it straight with no dilution. During my grow cycle, I add it weekly to my tubs at the rate of 1.5 teaspoons per U.S. gallon of liquid. Some growers use twice the amount. 1 Tablespoon per gallon.

As far as airstones go, let me take a minute to tell you the mistake I made with my air-stones. I wanted a ton of bubbles, so I bought 4” long flat-bottom air-stones and hot-glued them to the bottom of the buckets. They cost a couple of bucks each and worked great for about three weeks till the holes started to get blocked with minerals from the nutrients. Airflow was greatly reduced and I needed to get them cleaned. Problem was they were glued in. I had to remove my plant, remove the bucket, fill the bucket with a dissolving agent, let it sit overnight, flush it thoroughly, then put it all back together. This was a real pain in the ass for me, and an unneeded disruption for my plant. As a result I did two things. First, I went to small 1” round air-stones that only cost 30 cents each, they are now held in place with a cable clip glued in the bottom of the buckets. When they get clogged, it takes 10 seconds to put a new one in and throw out the old one (no more cleaning). And second, no matter what your bucket or tub looks like, buy an extra one. This way when you need to remove a plant to work on your system, you can lift off the whole top and have the perfect place to rest it."

For more detailed info on my airstone set-up w/ pic's, follow the link in my signature to my "150" system.

thx PD

i actually got to read your thread after asking my question about the air stone.(i m a little slow sometimes)and found the answer about it .
It seems that many already said it but it cannot heart to hear it more so; great system PD.

i come back on h2o2 , seeing the product as "bleach" means that it destroy all living bacterias in the system including beneficial bacterias .
don t you ever have issues with smelly water or fungus or etc....?

is the water movement coming from the air stone enough to prevent any development of non beneficial bacterias ?

PS if i ask too many questions just tell me to go F... myself.

My roots and reservoir are always nice and clean with no odors or slime. The roots stay bright white. I've never worried about beneficial bacteria and see no reason to start.

I don't mind the questions at all, however, I feel like we are taking this thread away from its originators original purpose. Lets continue it in my own grow thread if you have additinal questions. Regards.
