LMAO! We posted the same time...

So you think it's a government conspiracy to shut DIY growers down!!

They do have a real nice color, it's day 5 tonight, and i haven't been in to look tonight yet. Hopefully tomorrow or the next day there's going to be some nice roots hanging out!

Cheers

i always get these anti-government feelings around april 15th. heheh.

6.5 days, and we have roots!! I think I set them back a little with the bad water, but they don't seem any worse the wear. The stem and leaf are still nice and green, with new leaves growing while they're rooting. I'm impressed so far.

Check it out...these were taken this morning, and tonight they've grown another few millimetres:

Man I'm Jealous Stealth,if its electrical I've done it/can do it.Anything else that takes creativity and mechanical ability I thoroughly suckass,I've been dome clonin for years now and I'm about to buy a 30 or 40 site unit from my hydro place, after I flower out thses last vegging plants and take my well deserved vacation lol.I take it the stems dont get submersed in the water but stay 1/2 inch or so above?Actually I'll miss my RW cubes, kinda,I have a longstanding "process" thats become like a bad habit lol.Bubble cloning just looks too simple, thats what I want these days I think.Do you scarify?Use rooting hormone?Or just stickum in there?

lookin good there ss.
did you use plain water or didya add anything to the tub?
i loaded up on saturday and added a seed starter 3-10-3 to the water. used 3 tbsp to about 12 gal's of water. pretty weak mix but i'm thinkin it can only help.
bob, this is about as simple as it gets man. my last run was with a variety of perennials and annuals and i had roots in 5 days. i potted em at 7 days. after i potted em i lost 2 more which makes a total loss of 7 outa 50. i was a lil high when i potted em and forgot to water the pots until the next mornin. doh. all droopy and wilty by the am but they did bounce back quick. the cuts are a foot above the water but the 8 misters throw water everywhere. i'd love to find a tub with a leakproof lid tho. lol

Buying one is good, making one is cheaper!

No, the stems are well above the water level, it's the misting action that is continuously spraying them. Another day or two, or once they're all strongly rooted, I'm going to put them on a timer to allow the roots to dry out in between, making it necessary for them to begin searching for the water.

(WhyMe & Bob) - Yes, I did scarify the stem on the opposite side of the 45 degree cut (pic 2). The first pic doesn't show it, and almost looks like it has closed up and healed with the roots popping through. I made the incisions, then dipped them in rooting gel, which obviously gets washed off almost immediately once placed in cloner. The water I used straight tap water (very good water here) and added some superthrive. A bit of B1 for the kids, that's it. After the "rotting water syndrome" I cleaned the container and added some peroxide to the fresh water. I think I got pretty lucky there, as the stems were turning quite brown. That has cleaned up for the most part now (pic 2).

Next round I think I'll add some hydroguard as well, and note any differences from this batch. It's supposed to help suppress damping off diseases, and strengthen the clones.

So far the lid is working for me, but what I found was if you open the lid, dry the lip and weather strip completely before closing the lid again and fastening it down.

PD - You'll be here in no time man...

I'm transplanting into soil, and will let them get a couple good centimetres of root hanging down first to ensure they're good and strong. I'll make the soil extra wet to transplant into, possibly with some no damp, to reduce the shock somewhat. This way they can slowly dry out and start searching for the liquid love!

Hey, looks good man!!

Did you try the tie down method with velcro that I used? I don't have a single drop that's made it's way out. Very effective.

Thanks yet again stealth. That velcro method was the perfect solution. Hopefully others will find this thread when theyre tub starts leking, because mine was terrible and it is completely sealed now :D Thanks again my friend :friends:

take care

No worries, glad I could help!

CHECK OUT THE ROOT DEVELOPMENT IN 8 DAYS!!!

So far it looks like a 100% survival rate. I haven't opened the lid to look under, but all the cuts I lifted have roots.

I have no idea what the psi is for my Danner Mag-Drive 5, but 500 GPH versus 60GPH is a big difference...

Here's a link to a Mag-Drive: Mag-Drive Supreme 5

Good luck with your build, let us know how it goes

SS, great lookin roots man. i'd be pottin those babies. is this the simplest method of rootin or what. heheh
you might get roots in rw or rr's in close to the same amount of time but this is definately more fun and simpler to boot. good luck.
i got nothin yet since puttin em in on sunday. on the mj's anyways. lol

100% Root Success Rate from the Cloner!!

I've transplanted all the babies into their own 3.5 pots. I wet the soil down with SuperThrive and ph water, making it quite wet.

Check it out:

nice job Stealth ... it look to me like the cutting of the stem at 45degrees does serve a purpose, all your roots have poped above the cuts ... interesting!!

That is an interesting observation. I scarified the stems, but the majority started where the leaf node was. That by far was the most important factor in selcting the cutting. The roots were even growing where the stem was covered by the neoprene, and dug their way through it and down to the water. The roots then began coming out from everywhere the water was spraying.
It is going to be interesting to see what the transplant survival rate will be. It has to be quite a shock for the roots to be immersed in soil.

I'm very happy so far with the decision to build and use the cloner. This by far surpasses my expectations!

Have an awesome day
