DIY 60 Site Aero Cloner - EZ Cloner Replication

How did the repotting go? You are putting these into soil I presume? How did you go about transplanting from the cloner into soil? I haven't done this yet, and am curious as to your procedure and survival rate. I'm thinking that wetting the soil more then normal with b52 & voodoo when transplanting would probably help reduce some of the shock factor on the naked little roots. Maybe a little no damp around the stem?

Thanks for sharing your project.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
SS, repotting went finest kind. i potted into promix and putem under a 400 mh at about 20 inches and lowered to 12 inches after three days. i wet the soil down first but not too much cuz its a pita to work with really wet soil. i moistened it about a week before transplanting.
survival rates were good considerin they were all flowerin cuts. out of the 50 i started i lost 5. the ones i lost all had short stems that didn't hang into the tub enuff for my liking but i din't cut them, they were given to me. the one mj cut in the tub took 13 days for roots but it was also a cut i took from a flowering mother but it looks the same now as the day i cut it so the health is a non issue. all in all i am perty happy with the cloner.
the foam tape works good but it may hafta be reapplied every run which is not a bad thing as far as i'm concerned. i'm gonna retape it and i'm gettin more cuts tomorrow so i'll keepya posted.

The best way to make these things leakproof is to start with the right rubbermaid. There is another one called a roughneck that is blue. http://rubbermaid.com/rubbermaid/product/product.jhtml?prodId=HPProd150028
This one doesn't leak...it took me 3 rubbermaid containers and a lot of silicone and foam tape before i found this, but I advise everyone building one to save yourself the headache and buy this one...plenty of room for 60 sites.
That is the exact size and style of container I was looking for, but couldn't find here. Maybe my next one...

So, I fired up the cloner last night and went out for few hours...yup, came back and had water all over the place! It was leaking out the front from under the lid. I figured out an easy fix; 2 heavy duty velcro straps pulling the lid down. It's been running for 8 hours now and not leaking a drop so far...

The ultimate test begins! I filled her up with clones tonight, raping my poor Kush moms, took a cutting from my chemo, and took a cutting off each of the Black Domina's, as I started them from feminized seed, but I still need to flower and confirm sex. I definitely want a mom or two of this one as well.

Here's some pics:

Here's how I hung my flourescents, very simple to raise and lower when needed:

Plus, here's a little teaser of what's coming from my flower room:

I just want to thank everyone that has given me props by way of reputation, posting in the thread, and by PM. I'm just happy to be able to share my building and growing trials, failures, and successes with all of you. I have learned a tremendous amount from this forum (plus OG RIP), which without, there's no way I'd be doing as well as I am today.

Thanks, a lot. I really do appreciate it!

WhyMe I'm sure you're probably aware but just in case I used to use promix also, and dolomite lime is an absolute necessity to keep plants green during flowering,I had trouble until I started using 2 tbls per gallon soilmix, what a difference! One may be enough that what I use with ocean forest but promix is pretty acidic,I'd go with two.And O yea if using nursery pots to measure soil, most 1 gal. are only around .6 gallon in reality. Its good to google actual container size for whatever manufacturer you use,I prefer NSI

thanx bob, good info. i did use added dolomite to the promix. i'm gonna leave the plants in 4" pots till i plant em outdoors in a month or so.
what i wanna know is why did promix decide to add sticks an shit to the product. i've used this stuff for over 20 yrs and it ain't what it usta be i'll tell ya. gotta be all the hurricane damage trees gotta go somewhere i guess.
when they change my mix it makes me think more and more bout hydro tho.
how's that r/o unit workin for ya bob? can ya give some numbers of output gallons versus rated output? i'm thinkin an r/o unit will be on my wishlist very soon and would appreciate any recommendations at all if ya got any.

Quick Update - Cloner is running great, temp is 78F, not a single leak anywhere, and the cuttings are still nice and green...

PD & WM, thanks guys, I'll show the root porn as soon as they start to pop!

Bob, interesting what you're saying about promix. I'm really not that impressed this time around with it. I think it has been the root of my problem in addition to using GH nutes. From what I'm understanding, GH will consistently have cal/mag and some other deficiencies.

Have you heard about or are familiar with CocoGro Coir Fiber? Apparently this stuff is the cats ass for a medium, without the associated problems of soil, and can be reused for a long time. It's also cheaper then soil. I think I may give this a try next crop.

Have a great day!

I had my eye on the EZ Cloner as I'd heard so many positive comments on it, other then the heat issue from an oversized pump (in the 60 site unit).
Make it a great day, stay safe

That was true... I was always bitchin about that very issue. They fixed the problem using the 500 instead of the 700. But if you bought the 60 unit before the switch you gotta buy the 500. Sucks!

So anyway I can't bitch no more about the over sized pump in the 60s any more.

ss, hopefully we'll see root porn in 5-7 days. i was sposta get cuts yesterday but fell through. i'm shootin for tue or wed so i'll rite behind ya.
2 grows ago i used a coir/ peat blend that worked out perty good. from what i'vve read tho you'll wanna make sure to get a good quality coir that has been water soaked for at least 6 months. i've seen that the better coirs come from inland areas versus coastal areas so you'll wanna check the source out.
also on the cloner, keep ur eyes on the misters cuz it does'nt take much to clog em up. i had my compressor rite there with a blow gun that would clear em in no time at all. i've seen filter bags that ya put ur pump in that might be a way to keep lil bits o crap outa the misters. good luck. later

sackoweed & simplygr33n07 - Thanks guys. Good to hear it works!

I had a close call...I decided a couple days ago to check if there was any roots popping, so I pull one of the clones out and got a whiff of very stinky water. The temp was ok, but even though I had a couple "breathing slots" it was still sealed too tight, so no fresh O2 coming in. I changed the water up, added some H2o2, and put a bubbler in. Today the babies are nice and green, and there are some tiny little root nubs starting to stick out on a couple. I may have saved them from a life of rot....

I'll update as soon as the roots have popped right out! Here's a couple pics taken moments ago:

i think the government went and made all the plastic companies make the tubs really thin and wimpy.
i went to hd and wallymart and the tubs they had were shit. you can see rite thru the things. kmart had a 41g tub that the lid locks dow on all four sides ,which is a cool feature. i have closed cell foam tape on the lid and it's runnin rite now with no leaks.
hey ss, they look good man. i didnt get any bad water last run but i'll keep ya up on this one.

Hey, looks good man!!

Did you try the tie down method with velcro that I used? I don't have a single drop that's made it's way out. Very effective. And the weather stripping is really cheap if it does have to be replaced in time, but it certainly isn't showing any wear as of yet.

Stay safe

LMAO! We posted the same time...

So you think it's a government conspiracy to shut DIY growers down!!

They do have a real nice color, it's day 5 tonight, and i haven't been in to look tonight yet. Hopefully tomorrow or the next day there's going to be some nice roots hanging out!

Cheers

Hey Guys,

Both are looking great! I'm wishing I was at that point. No clones available where I'm located, so I'll have to provide my own. Got a couple of Mom's vegging, but it will be a while till they are ready to donate. For now, I'll have to enjoy your progress.

One Love, PD
