Thanks delta, further proof this is all smoke and mirrors. :D

Those NUGS look delicious!! Great job! Can't remember, u soil or hydro? If soil, what size container for those beasts?

As you've got no idea how they would have grown had you not defoliated, there's nothing to indicate that you're right. You just believe that you're right like k33fter. Perhaps this thread should be in the spirituality forum as it based so heavily on faith.

Brother Toker,

You keep insisting that those of us defoliating have no idea how plants turn out without defoliation. That is absolutely untrue and a huge and misplaced assumption on your part. All of us have grown without defoliating. In fact I doubt any one of us started from the beginning by defoliating. It is a technique that most encountered through trial and error and liked what they saw regardless of the intensity of application. 30+ years of experience gives me plenty of opportunities for many kinds of gardens in many kinds of environments. I have done side by sides numerous times indoors and outdoors.

I will say that the leafy runs were impressive in the way the whole compartment looks from a standpont of lush foliage with every leaf perfectly deep green without flaw, rust, curl, or pest.

Bottom line... Leafy 2.5 lbs/40sq.ft. MAXIMUM. Nice buds but nodal lengths excessive and too few budsites. Compartment was PACKED full and trained to take advantage of all space just like defoliation but with leaves. THIS WAS THE SWEET SPOT for leafy plants.

Defoliated gets 3lb MINIMUM pushing 4lbs.+ depending on strain and further maximizing of defoliated prep in veg.

You know exactly nothing about defoliation and we have done everything to encourage you to dispell your fears and get off the University of Pompously designed blind studies just to prove something to yourself before embarking on a harmless 2-3 week experiment by defoliating a clone or two IN VEG without risk to your regular production cycling, yet you insist on typing away the hours and days demanding scientific proof hoping to prove any of us wrong when we and many observers are quite impressed and satisfied with the results and photographs.

Your penchant for this is getting pathological, considering the ridiculously un-risky proposition to try it yourself so you can have the hard evidence in front of you instead of accepting anecdotal evidence in some internet forum filled with stoned losers like us.

Be cool man and please don't try anything in life that may involve more risk than the experiment I have put to you because, good heavens, I'd hate for you to experience anything in life that may cause you discomfort or risk deflating long-held assumptions and myths.

I think there is a misunderstanding. I am referring to my pics on page 64. I understand that it must be hard being the OP and responding to so many questions all the time. Seriously, you should get paid.... hence my book/writer comment earlier.

let me go quote them so you don't have to go hunting...

the pic on the last page if just how i work now... not the defol. I understand that my current method is not your method of defoliation. what i am trying to do is test ur theory from start to finish with the pics of the little ones.

this is how my plants are today. not the defol.

if you could just answer for me, In the defoliation pics of the Madness and BananaGum, the little babies in the cups... What would you do with the top most leaves?

thanks !

You're right, I get a little lost in the thread sometimes. At least I read it all unlike our friend El Toker:).

Those little things are fine with the very top leaves but not for long. They'll spread out soon enough and should be removed then for sure. I'll sometimes nip off everything but the little cluster but other times leave a leaf or two. It doesn't seem to make any difference. It is well observed for my satisfaction that leaves contribute little than structural height(stretch) so I don't sweat how many leaves to allow to remain. Mostly its more of a "do I have time to completely strip these things"...

hey, everybody! here's a few shot's of an "unimpressive" plant. this was grown in the "i don't know why anyone growing vertical would even try this" style.

defoliated totally at 21 days flower.

the plants been whacked and is in a 5 gal bucket of water for the night.

wet trimmed bud

dry bud in container. notice the container has a 2.5 gal capacity.

it has been dried to the point where large bud stems snap.

it weighs 418 grams or 14.74 oz's

now i realize that this is not proof of anything. i could be lying.

this is really complicating my life, now i have to get help carrying all this extra weight around.

the last 3 plants were 11.96, 12.45, and now 14.74 oz's totalling 39.15 oz's or averaging 13.05 each. all defoliated. the three largest plants i've ever grown.

ya'll have a good 'un,

I'm officially jealous. Where is El Toker just when the results pour in.

You're right, why should I trust you, D9? You are obviously intelligent, articulate and have no agenda other than producing mo'betta. That is, more and better, for the ebonically impaired. I don't know about your lack of fancy charts and spreadsheets. Every other grower and technique has been exhaustively tested in the University of Blind and Pompous studies. What makes you think you can spout success without all the paperwork. GTFOH. Better go back to the drawing board and do a study that is not intended to produce so much fucking bud. You know what happens when the desired end result is engineered into the study. What is your leaf weight anyway, I'm especially impressed when growers include leaf weight in their final tally.

this is a prime example of experience and advanced science melding into one, your efficient tunnel design is really beautiful, have you consider raising the level of the floor reflective material, it will drastically increase intensity of the reflection. you can use a simple cutout around pots and uses white visquine on the cutout

damn 4lbs/1k

damn 4lbs/1k

this is an amazing yield ratio almost 2 grams per watt!
it is not an experiment anymore man.

Myself and many others who have perfected this technique have never had better results without proper stripping.
without this method 2lbs per 1k would be the goal. now it's 4lbs!

Nobody's system and grows are identical.. you people must take the time to investigate and apply the knowledge to your grows. what works best for me may not work best for you. only way to maximize is by trial and error.... it takes time but the results are tremendous once your dialed in!
Peace all

OK so to recap.. the basic procedure is:

At 6 inches tall, pluck off some leaves.

Do this periodically (every 2-3 weeks or when leaves get shady)

Stop and let leaves grow out before flowering and until stretch ends.

After stretch, defoliate severely (and then again after 2-3 weeks or when leaves get shady)

I have some questions but first - is the above correct?
nice summary

thank goodness somebody said that leaves arent transparet look at a piece of paperunder a light its more transparent than the leaves yet you would never say it is tranparent its barely even translucent

devilweed, thank you!

i'm using 100% coco in a 5 gal bucket that is sub-irrigated from the bottom and pulse watered from the top. it's a strange set up that i have been playing with and refining for about a year. seems to work ok. it's in the "passive plant killer" thread.

delta9nxs:

that is avg producsion increase of 1.39 @ ea ppk harvest. @ that rate, next ppk harvest should be well over 457 total dry. nice +slope...cheers

:plant grow:

:smokeit:

yes, yes, yes! it's mine, all mine! i'm laying around on a big pile of bud like scrooge mcduck right now!

sorry, i don't know what i was thinking. i'll stop immediately. with my next plant i'll try to find a way to fuck it up so it doesn't produce as much.

i certainly don't want to cause anyone any stress or anxiety by screwing with their fragile ideal of a perfect universe.

the word some folks need to look up is "empirical". this from wikipedia:

"The word empirical denotes information gained by means of observation, experience, or experiment.[1] A central concept in science and the scientific method is that all evidence must be empirical, or empirically based, that is, dependent on evidence or consequences that are observable by the senses."

later, and thank you! d9

hey, shroom! they're on the way.

make sure you send enough; i would hate to disqualify your pics because of an insufficient sample size.

My Volcano gets about 2g per day, and i figure its going to take me 3-4 weeks to really decide if your pictures are genuine...

Plants dont just sprout fan leaves; from the plants perspective, the only way to recoup the lost fan leaves is to sprout growth tips, and increase their size.

24 days into flower, have not pinched in 2 weeks. Yeah, I know next time I'll try a scrog.
