Last I heard everyone had kissed and made up after the fight and had filmed the show. Not sure when it's gonna start.

:good:
Too bad it all went down the way it did.....after the Hillstrands contract is done im sure they are done......Deadliest catch wont be the same, mo and "Hillstranded" looks to be a one time event, i believe.....that would've been a good seasonal thing imo considering the "Hillstrands" character....Hope they come up with something....

I think they all shoudl make as much money as they can. The boats cost A LOT just to run, not to mention to maintain and modernize over time. They need to have money stashed for emergencies and boat repairs, not to mention to help the families of men who die. I want to see them all be comfortable and safe financially after they have been willing to share their lives, not to mention providing seafood that we all love to eat. I'm SO glad they are coming back, b/c this is one of the few tv. shows that we actually like.

they showed some snippets of new filming during some program last week that i didn't watch, but i know this b/c they were advertising the new seasn and saying they'd show a sneak peak. maybe during the season premiere of gold rush alaska?

I personally think a TV show glorifying an industry that is in the process of eradicating the very crabs upon which it depends is pretty fucking sick.

Look at the average size of crabs caught 50 years ago, and the average now.......it is a totally evil industry, like 95% of fisheries, and completely typical of the wanton rape and pillaging that is going to render our oceans sterile and dead within 50 years or less.

And as much as I love king crab, and consider it one of the most fantastic food in the world, I have not eaten any in at least a decade, because I refuse to support assholes like this in any way.

lol ...your soooooo wrong.

the king and opie fisheries in ak are soooooo well regulated that even the fishermen can't argue w/ it.

when they had a lottery fishery a few yrs back it wasnt great... not bad, but not great...

the commercial fishing and crabbing in alaska is EXACTLY what it should be!

the levels of stock are right up there, and everyone and every boat has a fair chance...even tho i loved fishing halibut/bcod in the lottery

Yes sure, the fisheries are hyper-controlled now....because if they were not, there would be none left at all.

What is the average weight of each crab caught, compared to what it was 40-50 years ago? About half of what it used to be when the fisheries started in the 50's.....

Just like the sturgeons, and the tunas, and the marlins, etc etc etc.....the largest healthiest and most successful breeders are mostly all gone....and that takes a long long time to recover from.

There should be a global moratorium on things like king crab, sturgeon, tuna, marlin, sea bass, grouper, sharkfin and all the other overfished and almost depleted species, IMHO.
