The evangelical Christians ARE the the right wing neo-conservative zealots, not just connected to them.

If you want good intellectual discussions, I suggest that you post something intellectual and not the drivel that you have been posting. Do you post this crap as a school project so that we supply all your facts and you don't have to do any homework. If so, you are smarter than I gave you credit for.

Are you this grumpy every day? Or are you just extremely passive-aggressive?

Or both?

You can dump 6 billion shredded aluminum cans in the sky and it won't rain unless there is enough water vapor there.

In reading some of these military papers, you have to learn that these folks are paid to sit on their ass and come up with really weird shit. My son was cost estimator at the space design lab at a very highly ranked university(aerospace engineering ranking) and worked on several government projects. When the final analysis was due within a week or 2, the assholes from the military or government would come in and change all the parameters and still expect the reports to be due on time. Some of the stuff they wanted to do was technologically impossible at this time and was projected for 20-30 years down the road. My son was supposed to estimate the cost for this. I asked him if he just pulled a number out his ass. He replied that since it was a government contract, he pulled the number out his ass and multiplied it by 10. Your tax dollars at work!!!!

Why shouldn't NASA be considered an asset and ally of the Dept. of Defense? Why does that make them sly bastards?Because they don't announce our secrets and capabilities to the world?Last time I looked we were all on the same team.NASA DOD and me,on the American team. And I certainly don't need or want to know all their secrets and capabilities.I guess I just have a problem knocking any team I'm on over innuendo or possible conspiritorial foo foo. There are plent of real reasons to knock my team right now without having to dream any up..

No facts to argue? Lay all these facts out, will you? Gravity is still a theory, Plate Tectonics is still a theory, "Expanding Earth" is still a theory. Darwin's model of evolution is just a theory, and SCIENCE has proven that Darwin was incorrect on many levels, such as the fossil record, punctuated equilibriums, especially when it comes to the science of proton precession, and the wobbling of the Earth's axis, and magnetic pole reversals...

Let's keep it realistic here. Science is not out to prove "facts", it is only there to make theories about facts based on empirical evidence. For all intents and purposes, a theory in science is a fact. If you have doubts about gravity or evolution, then there's no point in even debating NASA. When one throws science and empirical evidence out the window, you have to wonder what you're basing your observations on... Science did prove Darwin incorrect on many levels, but Darwin's model of evolution is not conclusive of our modern definition of evolution. Science has gone a long way since then.

Edit: By the way, I like how Stoned2Death called ICMag a Zionist-run website. Hah!

BTW, Darwin himself said, before he died, that his theory of evolution was off. This is a really up-to-date scandal since it only happened a 100 years ago. I doubt seriously that any geologist thinks that plate tectonics is just a theory. If you think that gravity is a theory, drop a ball and see if it will go up.

Not every geologist believes in plate tectonics, ever heard of the "expanding earth theory?" These scientists have enough empirical evidence to believe that the Earth used to be a lot smaller, and due to magnetic pole reversals and other catastrophic energetic shifts of our galaxy, the Earth has multiplied in size over billions of years to become its current size. I have read up on both sides of this coin, there is both evidence for and against the Plate Tectonics theory, but when you shrink the Earth down to a certain percentage of its current mass then the continents fit together perfectly to form one giant landmass, like the idea of Pangea, but the whole Earth used to be solid, and most likely during a planetary collision the water came from some type of large asteroid and was caught by the Earth's gravity, and this water filled in the large, low elevation gaps in the crust...

pretty interesting...

Beez, you should check out a book called Worlds in Collision, by Immanuel Velikovsky, I think you'd love it.

This is a lie - and one used as creationist spin - that's been circulating for a long, long time. The burden of proof rests on you, Pops. Can you prove Darwin recanted?

http://www.answersingenesis.org/creation/v18/i1/darwin_recant.asp
http://www.talkorigins.org/faqs/hope.html
http://www.don-lindsay-archive.org/creation/darwin_recant.html

To paraphrase the content of the above links:

"It has been claimed that Charles Darwin recanted on his deathbed. Supposedly Lady Hope visited him, and wrote about it, many years later.

There are three things worth saying:
Who Cares? Science is not based on authority, and the Theory of Evolution is much changed since Darwin's day.

Why Would Darwin Care? He knew that the Church of England had agreed to bury him in Westminster, right near Isaac Newton. He is there today. He was not under any theological pressure to change his scientific views.

It's False. Darwin's daughter Henrietta has stated that he didn't. Further, Lady Hope did not visit during Darwin's last month. And none of Darwin's friends (who did visit him) reported any conversion. Darwin's various biographers are agreed on this point."

Sorry, I am not a creationist. I am a physical anthropologist and an atheist. The statement that Darwin made was to the effect that if species were to transform into another species, there should be intermediate forms between the 2 species and he could find none. That does not mean that the body of work that Darwin did was wrong. He contributed so very much to science. He is considered one of the 100 most influential men to have ever lived. I happen to believe in Darwinian evolution and believe that the changes are very gradual and somewhat unnoticeable at any particular time. His theory is that species overpopulate and over run their environment and only those with genes to cope with this and changes to the environment actually survive. I am not saying that Darwin rejected everything he wrote, only one small part of it. He did tremendous work in geology as well. He happens to be one of my favorite people. He gave up religion around 1850 when his daughter died, even though he had a degree in theology.

Darwin got it wrong.. what happens in reality is DEVOLUTION.
think about it.. there was an ice age and meteor that killed almost everything on earth. That was the end of the previous cycle. Dinosaurs had evolved from lizards etc. in the previous age, before destruction. Humans had devolved into ape like, violent creatures with little intelligence compared to previous generations. There is no in-between to be found. It's too old. We are the in-between now..
What we are looking at in fossils etc. is not only our planets past, but its future. It has already begun.

One further point: Whoever thinks that the U.S. can control the weather by 2025 is either a freaking moron or the most optimistic person in the country.

Pops...not disagreeing with you....but I remember something recently about chinas attempts to control the rains for the 08 olympics. I know they made some high altitude passes and actually dumped something....but the details escape me. You know of this?

Its called cloud seeding and it's science, not bs.
http://www.google.com.au/search?hl=en&q=cloud+seeding

Silver iodide and dry ice are the most commonly used.

Basically, if you have the proper amount of water vapor in the air, you can seed the clouds and cause rain before it would naturally occur. China may try to get it to rain prematurely, so that it doesn't rain during the Olympics. This technology has been around since 1946, but it is quite far from being able to control the weather and use it as a weapon. The U.S. military used it in Viet Nam to extend the monsoon season over the Ho Chi Minh Trail by 30 days, but not to kill people.

Not really weather control per say but something I was reading about recently relates to weather phenomena as a weapon, namely lighting.

One of the problems with high powered lasers is when fired they heat up the atmosphere to a degree that the gasses become plasma and diffuse the beam slightly diminishing effects. This plasma however can act as a conduit for electricity. In this case the laser isn't really the weapon but more the guide. Theoretically the laser can be fired immediately followed by a powerful electrical discharge to create a powerful weapon more or less indistinguishable from lightning. Such weapons are speculated to be in development already. So when you read on cnn about Ahmadinejad being struck by lighting take it with a grain of salt. :biglaugh:

Oct. 26: Landmark court settlement requires NASA to release documents on mysterious UFO case.

New York, N.Y. -- On the heels of the news of NASA’s attempt to withhold survey data on aviation safety problems, the Coalition for Freedom of Information (CFi) today announced the unprecedented settlement of a lawsuit against the space agency in U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.

As result of NASA’s refusal to release its records concerning the 1965 Kecksburg, PA UFO incident and subsequent stonewalling, CFi filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit in December, 2003, as part of a broader FOIA campaign supported by SCI FI Channel.

Presiding U.S. District Judge Emmett G. Sulliivan approved a settlement that requires NASA to comb through hundreds of documents in specified locations and provide copies to Leslie Kean, investigative journalist with CFi and plaintiff in the lawsuit, under the watchful eye of the courts. NASA is required to declassify relevant documents, explain any redactions, and to pay Kean’s legal fees as part of the settlement...

Here is a 31 page PDF all about it:

That's great,Beez. Time the courts started agreeing with the people instead of the government.
