This girl aint RKS, and personally, I dont use the term RKS in the first place, but, Im a share her here because she is my skunk plant that has satisfied my skunk cravings since 2009. Shes skunk spray and black pepper in flower, and pure skunk spray after dry and proper cure. These pics are from old grows, I have one in early flower now, always do... Love her.

If all RKS leads back to Sam and Skunk #1, then there were tons of skunk #1 hybrids so there were probably lots of different RKS plants back then. My theory is they all got lost b/c of security concerns. The RKS I had, which was the best herb I've ever had, got lost b/c it stunk so bad. I first had it in 99 and then again in 2003 or 2004. I don't know much about the genetics. The grower supposedly bred it and had some genetics from Cali. I can tell you it was in the mountains of VA and Boone, NC from late 90s to mid 2000s. Pretty sure it was a tiny yielder or they grew tiny clones. Stunk like a dead skunk. I have so many crazy stories about this herb b/c of the smell. lol. Here are a few:

-I once broke up an ounce in my parents house and you could smell it in the street out front. They were gone all day and it still smelled 4 hours later after i broke it up. I was freaking out with candles, spray, opened the windows, all sorts of shit.. worked out finally
-I did a college online test while smoking this herb. Got so high I just zoned out into the TV for a couple of hours. It was fucking awesome
- We took some to hampton phish 99. second night we busted some out in the seats pre-show. like a tiny nug. we smoke and sit. This shit is heavy as fuck couch lock. It also has a head buzz that makes you the dumbest you've ever been. You can't function well. So guy in front of us turns around and offers some boomers for a hit. We say, yea, we'll get you blazed in a minute. (we only have a tiny bit of herb as we're broke as fuck college kids) He ends up bouncing before we smoke hit out. (20 minutes later) I still owe him a bowl and feel bad to this day. We barely had any of the herb as we could never get a lot of it. LOL..The boomers were ridiculous and a pretty killer show before big cypress.

That's the story of my RKS. Strongest shit ever. If I had to guess, Super Skunk or SS x Indica?? Sounds like there was a lot of skunk strains in the VA/NC mountains. Hopefully it's still there.

BTW, Duke Diamond is from VA and knows the skunk as well. He said he's working with old SSSC Skunk seeds, not Skunk VA (Not chemdog, a different person). From what I see it looks like he runs numbers.

anyway, I hope we can all find that RKS again. shit was fuego..peace

I think we are from around the same areas :good: I've been out here in Colorado for awhile now but moved out here from WNC. I went to App State too and had plenty of Phish shows and other crazy ass stories from partying, shows, mini tour runs with phish/sts9/umphreys. I will say though that during my whole stint there in Boone I never saw any really skunky weed or anything that I would call close to a skunk strain. I would remember that for sure. I also had a very good handle on the cannabis scene around there but it was several years after your hayday it sounds like so maybe that's the difference? Also, maybe the skunk thing you mentioned was more of a VA thing? That would make sense too.

I also put up a picture last night of one of my Skunk 91. I have never seen any skunk first hand, only pictures, but I would think that this is looking kind of like it? I would have to say that this one pictured is my favorite smelling one right now with a meaty garlic smell to it. As of right now I don't have any straight up skunk smelling phenos unfortunately, this would be the closet one. I'll upload a pic here to icmag later but in the mean time check out this link and look at the latest picture (4/10/12)

Its not really similar to the skunk cutting we got in 1980. That plant had the densest buds of anything. When an oz was in a bag, people swore it must be a 1/2.

Breed out the chem selecting for the best male then cross to the gg4 .pine/earthly are more valuebale then fuley/citrus . to bad your notvin my area i would be more then willing to contribute cuts .

I have rank girls just no male line that can contribute in a way that creats hybreed vigour .

Are you against feminized crosses or selfed seeds? Im genuinly asking, not picking a fight.. Im also looking for same terps in plants to cross, but not specifically males... :)

It's not chem though. It's "Chem". Chem 91 JB is a mislabeled cut, the JB cut. Educated speculation is that it's a mislabeled Reservoir Seeds Sour Diesel IBL. I would think that is pretty accurate. I want to work the line itself and see if there is anything to it, again breeding towards stability and the RKS side of things. If that can't be done with the line then it's time to move on. If a nice male comes to the surface then I'll entertain that option as far as hitting it on some nice skunky funky clone onlys. :2cents:

I live in Southern Oregon. There is thousands of grows with smaller numbers but large plants outdoors ( some grows with big numbers too) every fall as you drive by them , some of them smell skunky. That is one of the biggest complaints of the none growing neighbors . Most of the none growing population doesn't like that smell and that is part of the reason some towns in So. Oregon have banned outdoor growing. I don't mind the skunk funk , but it is helping fuel the opposition.

If you live near Fort Rock, is you garden within smell range of Route 31? I remember driving through some really nice odors on Route 31 last fall on my way back from Silver Lake.

I like that area. Fort Rock and Christmas valley, but I have lived in the Rogue valley now for years. I hope the guys make some skunky genetics , I just wanted to mention that smell is kind of a controversy around here.

I tried to PM you. Not sure if I did it right? I haven't posted much on this site. Seems like we have a lot in common. Boone/asheville/roanoke/va mountains has the dank on lock out there. I just moved to CO from richmond in Oct. Went to VT. I was definitely in the minority there...LOL...it was pretty fratty...I'm just starting my first grow (just popped my first set of beans). Nice, I got lots of shows coming up myself. jrad, primus, um x 3 (night 3 = 100th), phish x 3, biscuits, etc...

I didn't know many people in boone. Just one guy. I think he got rid of the genetics b/c of the smell. Supposedly things got hot for him and his buddy that were growing a lot in boone. He lived off "main st" i guess. House was on a hill (driveway would've sucked in the winter), but def just outside off the main strip on the main road. could only see the malibox. Only time i went to his house was 2006 or 2007. I remember it was labor day. I brought tons of jars and $ to get the skunk. I got tiny trainwreck buds that were flowered from clones. Well grown, just not the skunk. I didn't ask if the skunk was gone or ask about the genetics. Wish i would've. That was the last time I saw the guy. Last time I had the skunk was 2004-2005. The first time I got it in 99 it was grown in roanoke. Guy in roanoke owned a farm and got clones from dude in Boone. I wonder if i only got it from the farm? maybe b/c of the smell? My buddy doesn't really talk to either of them much anymore. They're old school and won't talk about things on the phone.

Last I heard the boone guy in the NE somewhere. All friends of friends. I can tell you, a g would stink up an entire house. dead skunk. Super indica that made you completely dumb. walk around in circles type shit

Ah, I'll make another post. what up icmag? I've been lurking the site for years, learning. Thanks for all the info. seriously, this place has tons of info...lots of bitching/fighting/drama, but also a ton of good people and knowledge. Just moved to CO from the east coast and starting my first grow. I'm about 5 days in. I have a journal on another site. I'm not doing a great job so far. I underwatered, then overwatered. lol...have the following going: sugar black rose, humboldt purple snow, big bad bubba, and jabba's stash in a 5x5. I have to put up a fan and filter this weekend. can i say the name of the website or put a link?

It's probably not a good idea to mention other Canna sites.

But nothing stops you from creating a journal here. :tiphat:

This way your posts will go up and people can try to help out when they can. :dance013:

I'm wondering if we really want our flowers to smell like a Road Kill Skunk... It will take only 1 second of actual experience with a rotting skunk carcass to change your mind, I promise. Well, maybe if you were a vulture you'd enjoy it... Or a fly, lol.

My cousin just told me a story of his experience with my most recent batch of organic GSC x Bubba Kush flowers... Saying how he walked downstairs an evening ago and thought he must've forgotten to take the trash out because it stunk so rotten, but turns out he left the lid to the 5 grams of flowers I'd given him wide open...

Now, I'm not certain that's the type of impression I want my flowers to make, so I'm making sure to grow some Chem D x Bubba Kush fem seeds next time LOLOLOL :D
