Has any one crossed the two ?

Any one know what gen " cali-o " was back around late 70s to early 80's ?

My best guess is that the late 70s cali-o seeds i have are ( "mystery cali strian" X "skunk#1 ) so what was the mystery strain in cali-o ?
sam said there was a rks leaning afghan involed in skunk#1 . did the rks/ skunky Afghan have a orange-citrus profile to ?

If i were to guess i would say a Afghan dom strian for sure and suspect pre hawian/ African genetic influence/arrival/use in breading. hence the lack of spice . yet it would seem from reports the mystery strian would possabliy be the old " jamaican banana bud" . honestly i have no real idea but would appreciate if some one could enlighten me on the subject ?

Also any input on " the original c99 cut" , "cinex strian " and "sweet touth strian" ?

Might have a nice off shoot project in the orange dirction lol.

Cali O was not made by Sam . He worked it and sold seeds .

Cultivators Choice catalogue had Cali O F2 seeds .

digging the cali-o discussion
the old nirvana(and others) cali-o had a rep for a strong sativa side
it was the genetics i was hoping for when i bought nirvana back in 2009
but things had changed, sigh
mexican influences often mentioned, but lots of things get mentioned
the truth may remain hidden

ouch... I remember getting a bag of skunky smelling tumbleweed anza nugs in 79-84.

we thought someone got a seed from some good mexican bud and grew it out in riverside county.

i remember

brick mex skunk red hair colombian gold some wispy looking purple and some home growns were the mainstays once in a great while chocolate thai.

I usto get tumbleweed from anza lol an ounce looked like a qp. A strain floating around so-cal cpl years back called Northern Boarder had some decent rks smell to it and it wasnt a Northern Lights cross but a Pakistani landrace

Thank you for info .

I have an opportunity/possibilty to do some great work towards bringing back some off the classic genetics to us all and i just want to make sure i do it in the most eficient way possible. This will likely take me many years to be done properly.

There are some amazing genetics still out there . its time to bring them back to there glory days .

Do it

My cross in focused on the sensi star cherry pheno,
and I have been lucky to have and work the genetics.

Back cross to the male P1 is in full swing and promising.

So high right now, lol.

Go skunk!

FYI, I have never said I created Cal Orange, I got it from friends in N Calif that developed it and said I could make the seeds and do what I liked with it, they gave me the Cal Org seeds I started with. I made lots of Cal Orange and Cal Orange/Skunk #1 seeds. Back in the late 70's early 80's Cal Orange was a great WLD/NLD hybrid that was really good. Both me and RCC saw it first at the Santa Rosa Harvest Festivals in the late 70's or early 80's, it won first place that time. We both knew the grower.
Jerry seems like a nice guy, interesting book, but he had zero to do with Cal Orange I had. I know who bred it, where and when. It was not Jerry.

If you've been listening to the listening to The Pot Cast, you've hear some talk of Skelly Hash Plant being potently skunky.
https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=64841
They say it comes from Camas Valley, Oregon, Dankwolf, so maybe you could just drive down there about Sept 15 & cruise around the valley with your windows down until you find it.

Yup with out a dought use to live in camas years ago . i plan a trip out that way on the near future. My rks project is kind of on hold at moment till i cann decide between a few differnt paths that have came to light .

Skelly hash plant sounds 100% like the rks girl i have been looking for .

There was second strian i had been looking for aswell and with in the same thread they talked of hp#1 and it would seem it is the other pine smelling girl that i miss so much .

Well time to do some networking/ driveing / persuading . wish me luck .

2/28 All the Skunk 91s, the two males in the 1 gallons. Favorite male on the left. They've been hacked down to take clones and reduce size for flower. The sock tech on the bulb is to protect it from an IPM spray that I was about to do on the Skunk 91s. That's also why the males in the next pic look shiny.

Sorry if I already posted this picture, I can't remember. These are the cuttings I'm trying to root, pictured here on 2/24. Probably another week before I start seeing roots on anything.

1988 - 1989 and the strains i am looking for originated in same area . cant say any more then that .

I think we can say a lot more than that, I think we've probably identified the cut you're looking for. Its not doesn't take a terribly great intellectual leap to go from listening to The Pot Cast & hearing Pbud talk about one the greatest reeks he ever smelled from a pot plant & saying it originated in Camas Valley & that it also goes by '89HP to guess what the mystery weed you're seeking is, when what you're looking for is a similar variety from that same area and time period. Seems like a no-brainer that the RKS you're looking for is probably Skelly Hash Plant AKA The Puck AKA 89HP.
Did you breed the original one or know the folks who did?
