That's where we'll either witness the referenced squeamishness of the DoJ where charging former presidents is concerned, and test the reality of some semblance of the long suspect (MIA) 'equal protection under the laws' (Is he 'too big to fail'?), or we'll see that once in a while the Oligarchs and their hand-puppets cut one of their own from the herd for slaughter..

The latter would at least instill some hope for the System.
It's my belief that the DOJ was waiting for the 2 other branches of government to sign off on criminal charges before proceeding. Indicting and prosecuting a former president is unprecedented.

I also don't believe we will see any movement until next year. The DOJ doesn't need Congress at this point to proceed and there's nothing The House could do to impede or stop a prosecution.

I hope you're right. Though I hate to wait a year. Trump in free-play for a year could cause a lot more damage.

i think you are largely right. even looking like they were in a hurry to indict would be used against the DOJ. but now that Congress HAS investigated, i expect them to indict unless the executive branch has a contrary position, or the Supreme Court maybe. exactly what the hell happens if the Supreme Court issues an unsolicited opinion (6-3) that Chump is immune from prosecution because blahblahblah...?

RE my previous post...are the members of the Supreme Court subject (as attorneys after all) to being censured or had their license to practice law withdrawn by the bar association? i'm gonna google that puppy...

no mention. the individual Justices may be prosecuted criminally or impeached. several might be accused of bribery, since they were offered a life-long job with excellent bennies to issue a bought and paid for opinion, and have already delivered to their masters. or maybe it should be looked at as giving false testimony instead for the lies they told under oath/in public confirmation hearings. they give ambulance chasers a bad name...

Defacto bribery, in a somewhat abstract way/interpretation, can be a tough cookie to bake.

The bits I posted the other day, with the 2 'Conoco Senators' in Alaska, Kevin Meyer & Pete Miciche, and them collecting their Conoco salaries full time while they sat in legislative positions to make law that benefitted their employer, thus tantamount to bribery, was phoned into the FBI.. more than once. As well as reported by another individual at their office, in person. And nothing was done with it.

And that was a number of years ago. Meaning that the Division of Public Integrity at the FBI had plenty of time to go to bat with it, and they didn't.

And that's a lot 'softer ball' than going after a SCOTUS Justice or 2.

But remember, for hard violations of ethics, Justice Thomas stayed at the Koch Family's private country club home for a Federalist Society meeting, WHILE Citizens United was on the docket. THAT should've had him either recuse himself, or be disciplined by the other justices.

And again, nothing like that occurred.

"Rights for me, but not for thee." That ugly double-standard that violates the very heart of equal protections under the law. Docs rarely rat on Docs, attorneys rarely rat on attorneys, cops rarely rat on cops, and clearly, SCOTUS justices rarely confront or rat on other SCOTUS justices.

It's the stuff the Bolshevik uprising was made of.

IF he manages to stay out of jail he will be watched and scrutinized at every turn. He now has nothing to sell big donors and foreign governments. Using blocks of condos in offshore properties to launder money only works if nobody is watching and the golf clubs that were already losers now have huge negative stigma. This guy is someone who lost money owning casinos an hour away from New York City and the only game in town. He's fucked.
Well it's sure looking that way after the final public hearing from the Jan 6th committee and their criminal referals to the DOJ. There was already big pressure on the DOJ to indict without the referals but with the final report and the Jan 6th referals that pressure has easily doubled.

Trump was a dumb ass.. He couldn't have been dumber than what he tried to do. He was never a genius businessman. Any good businessman would tell you that. If your committing Crimes/corruption its best to be iniquitous as possible. He all but had a sign saying look at me I'm committing crimes. Total dumbass.
That whole business about him being able to shoot someone on 5th avenue and they wouldn't do anything went to his head and he started to believe his own hype.

Indictment to prosecution and conviction could easily take a year.. or more.
i don't care if it takes two years for it to unfold & a decision rendered. but i don't think it wise to sit on indictment for too long. wait too long and they open themselves up to accusations of trying to influence the next election. everyone should relax and enjoy Christmas & New Years, and then do their jobs....let the chips fall where they may.:shucks::good:
