Most of the time, the same statement could be made about Biden.

Americans have very little understanding of Germany in 1940.

It is the Germany of 1930 to 1934 (pre-Hitler) where the facts of WW2 exist.

If Hitler was such a bad guy - why was Wall Street caught financing him in October 1942 ? Why is there a Vesting Order, related to the bank seizure & signed by FDR, sitting in the National Archives ?

Why did the guy that managed the bank that was caught financing WW2 Germany - subsequently get elected to the US Senate representing Connecticut ? Referring to Prescott Bush.
It's not signed by FDR. It is signed by Thomas Crowley, the Alien Property Custodian. But good on you for bringing this up!

Marc Short, the former chief of staff to Vice President Mike Pence, appeared before a federal grand jury investigating the insurrection.

But wait, There's more..... He's Looosing.

Former President Donald Trump on Monday slammed "Fox & Friends" in a post over his Truth Social platform.

  • Trump lashed out at the "Fox & Friends" talk show in a rant on Truth Social.
  • He accused the show's hosts of botching his poll numbers "on purpose."
  • "That show has been terrible — gone to the 'dark side,'" he wrote.

Just checked my 2016 and 2017 tax returns, 2016 I received about $4500, 2017 I received $7300, my paychecks were roughly $80-100 more per week. The business tax cuts made stocks rise, I benefited from that too.
Unfortunately, you will be giving it all back and more after 2025.

yup. the tax cuts for the RICH are permanent. those for normal people expire, and leave us in an even WORSE position than we were to begin with. how many votes do you think that chump change will buy? the GOP is hoping to buy an election...then take the cash back afterwards.

Inflation is actually pretty much in our faces.

The hidden tax is our children being sent to die in the interests of paying that inflated debt.

Napoleon saw a time before and after bankers had the gall to bet on both sides.

It's relatively new.

Just like the Federal Reserve BANK.

12 accomplishments of Trump that his supporters absolutely love -

1. His supporters loved that they didn't have to be ashamed to love the American Flag or the Bald Eagle. Those symbols of the nation. Trump made it OK to be proud of them.
2. He promoted traditional family roles.
3. He made national security paramount and he focused on that.
4. When it came time to call a bad guy a bad guy he didn't hesitate. He let us know who our enemies were.
5. He knew there were bad guys out there, he didn't care about conventions or rights that they may have. And that's OK, because when it comes to national security, we need to win. Period. Full stop.
6. Because of that opposition, he made the military supreme, the most important thing, bar none.
7. He didn't let the media run him, he ran the media. He called them out over everything and they got away with nothing.
8. If he thought the media was lying, he would call them out on it. And he let his supporters knew who they could trust to tell the truth.
8. He protected American business interests at home and abroad with the full force of the US Government.
9. He established mutually beneficial relationships between the US Government and the private sector and used the government to make it happen.
10. He did not let the "lefty labor groups" gain an inch.
11. He didn't waste time or money on horrible art or unmarketable liberal arts types of intellectual activities. He focused on law and order, crime and punishment.
12. He brought religion back to the White House.

And 2 negatives that (most) Trump supporter acknowledge -

1. He engaged in cronyism. He hired his family members that were "less than qualified" for their positions.
2. He undermined the elections. To what extent is up for debate. But there is zero doubt that he did.

I'm sure a few of the Maga folks here were nodding their heads.
One of the key questions facing both journalists and loyal oppositions these days is how do we stay honest as euphemisms and trivializations take over the discourse? Can we use words like “fascism,” for example, with fidelity to the meaning of that word in world history? The term, after all, devolved decades after World War II into the trite expression fascist pig, writes Umberto Eco in his 1995 essay “Ur-Fascism,” “used by American radicals thirty years later to refer to a cop who did not approve of their smoking habits.” In the forties, on the other hand, the fight against fascism was a “moral duty for every good American.” (And every good Englishman and French partisan, he might have added.)

Eco grew up under Mussolini’s fascist regime, which “was certainly a dictatorship, but it was not totally totalitarian, not because of its mildness but rather because of the philosophical weakness of its ideology. Contrary to common opinion, fascism in Italy had no special philosophy.” It did, however, have style, “a way of dressing—far more influential, with its black shirts, than Armani, Benetton, or Versace would ever be.” The dark humor of the comment indicates a critical consensus about fascism. As a form of extreme nationalism, it ultimately takes on the contours of whatever national culture produces it.

It may seem to tax one word to make it account for so many different cultural manifestations of authoritarianism, across Europe and even South America. Italy may have been “the first right-wing dictatorship that took over a European country,” and got to name the political system. But Eco is perplexed “why the word fascism became a synecdoche, that is, a word that could be used for different totalitarian movements.” For one thing, he writes, fascism was a fuzzy totalitarianism, a collage of different philosophical and political ideas, a beehive of contradictions.”

While Eco is firm in claiming “There was only one Nazism,” he says, “the fascist game can be played in many forms, and the name of the game does not change.” Eco reduces the qualities of what he calls “Ur-Fascism, or Eternal Fascism” down to 14 “typical” features. “These features,” writes the novelist and semiotician, “cannot be organized into a system; many of them contradict each other, and are also typical of other kinds of despotism or fanaticism. But it is enough that one of them be present to allow fascism to coagulate around it.”
  1. The cult of tradition. “One has only to look at the syllabus of every fascist movement to find the major traditionalist thinkers. The Nazi gnosis was nourished by traditionalist, syncretistic, occult elements.”
  2. The rejection of modernism. “The Enlightenment, the Age of Reason, is seen as the beginning of modern depravity. In this sense Ur-Fascism can be defined as irrationalism.”
  3. The cult of action for action’s sake. “Action being beautiful in itself, it must be taken before, or without, any previous reflection. Thinking is a form of emasculation.”
  4. Disagreement is treason. “The critical spirit makes distinctions, and to distinguish is a sign of modernism. In modern culture the scientific community praises disagreement as a way to improve knowledge.”
  5. Fear of difference. “The first appeal of a fascist or prematurely fascist movement is an appeal against the intruders. Thus Ur-Fascism is racist by definition.”
  6. Appeal to social frustration. “One of the most typical features of the historical fascism was the appeal to a frustrated middle class, a class suffering from an economic crisis or feelings of political humiliation, and frightened by the pressure of lower social groups.”
  7. The obsession with a plot. “Thus at the root of the Ur-Fascist psychology there is the obsession with a plot, possibly an international one. The followers must feel besieged.”
  8. The enemy is both strong and weak. “By a continuous shifting of rhetorical focus, the enemies are at the same time too strong and too weak.”
  9. Pacifism is trafficking with the enemy. “For Ur-Fascism there is no struggle for life but, rather, life is lived for struggle.”
  10. Contempt for the weak. “Elitism is a typical aspect of any reactionary ideology.”
  11. Everybody is educated to become a hero. “In Ur-Fascist ideology, heroism is the norm. This cult of heroism is strictly linked with the cult of death.”
  12. Machismo and weaponry. “Machismo implies both disdain for women and intolerance and condemnation of nonstandard sexual habits, from chastity to homosexuality.”
  13. Selective populism. “There is in our future a TV or Internet populism, in which the emotional response of a selected group of citizens can be presented and accepted as the Voice of the People.”
  14. Ur-Fascism speaks Newspeak. “All the Nazi or Fascist schoolbooks made use of an impoverished vocabulary, and an elementary syntax, in order to limit the instruments for complex and critical reasoning.”

One detail of Eco’s essay that often goes unremarked is his characterization of the Italian opposition movement’s unlikely coalitions. The Resistance included Communists who “exploited the Resistance as if it were their personal property,” and leaders like Eco’s childhood hero Franchi, “so strongly anti-Communist that after the war he joined very right-wing groups.” This itself may be a specific feature of an Italian resistance, one not observable across the number of nations that have resisted totalitarian governments. As for the seeming total lack of common interest between these parties, Eco simply says, “Who cares?… Liberation was a common deed for people of different colors.”

"promoted traditional family roles" LOL! is that what you got from THREE divorces & innumerable affairs? including at least one paid dalliance with a porn "star" ? he lied like a fucking dog then, and is still doing it in the face of concrete facts showing otherwise. religion has no place in politics, in spite of the incursions it has made with Chumps addition of three "judges" that should be removed from their posts over lying during their confirmations. he has done more damage to our country than we can even see at this time.

if you are not practicing what you are preaching, there is a term for that. :biglaugh: i DID read your entire post. i just picked out the most egregious nonsense to reply to. there is MUCH in there that is utter rubbish, as well as mis-leading as hell. being anti lgtbq is hardly a positive at a time when they are becoming a force in politics. as usual, the GOP "faithful" see their chances of winning elections slipping away, and hope to fight off irrelevancy by trying to stop others from voting. yeah, THAT will make you lots of friends...

I see what you're saying.

This isn't what you and I believe were his accomplishments. These are an objective look at what his supporters view as his accomplishments. These are the reasons why they dress up in their Trump gear and go wave Trump flags at his rallies.

many of his supporters are pitifully ignorant of our laws, the nations history, and how govt is supposed to work. anyone that still wears his MAGA hat & goes to Chump rallies is either borderline mentally deficient, willfully ignoring reality, or merely pretending to buy into his scam because they have no place else to turn, nowhere to hide from their sordid reality. they gotta blame SOMEONE...and The Chump is more than willing to point at those he deems "responsible"... "it's THEM, those "others" over THERE! it's not YOUR fault...":drum:
