The US has reported more than 790 coronavirus cases in total across 36 states.

Right now in Germany we have 1565 infected but only two dead people for what reason ever, but I doubt it will stay this way. Number of infected people grows exponentially. The director of the Robert Koch Institute said that the numbers of Germany and Italy will be equal soon. And I'm sure he is right, because the number of infected people doubles after four days and it is clear that every health system will be overstrained with such a mass of ill people very fast.


And CFR in Italy is 6.2% right now.

A 1-Mile Coronavirus Containment Zone Has Been Set Up Just Outside Of New York City
Gov. Andrew Cuomo called it “a matter of life and death” and called in the National Guard to deliver food to residents and to clean public gathering places impacted by the containment zone.

Places where large numbers of people gather would be shut down for at least two weeks and the National Guard is expected to help deliver meals and clean public spaces. But officials stressed that residents of the community who were not under quarantine would still be allowed to come and go as they pleased.



"These are uncharged waters," George Latimer, county executive for Westchester County, told BuzzFeed News.

But it's nice to acknowledge positive examples of exponential/ geometric growth.

The coronavirus death count isn't the only thing doubling every 7 days.

These baby birds are eating 1 1/3 cans of canned cat food a day, + a comparable amount of grains & wet bread. They're each eating about 1 ounce of fat-protein and 1+ ounces of grain a day.

They're kind of hard to weigh so I don't know their exact growth rate. But I know it's geometric, gaining 1/4 or 1/3 of their weight - every day - for a few months.

The birds are tiny but they can do serious damage on a can of cat food.

One other example of exponential growth is Cannabis. From when they are a seedling to the peak of Pistil growth maybe 2/3 of the way into flowering, they are also doubling in size or weight every few days at the beginning, then slowing down the growth rate as they get heavier.

But still the "Magic of Compounding".


As far as Corona-virus goes, if people are freaking out now, wait till the death rate hits 1 million - in the US.
