Coronavirus.. outlook

The Netherlands government has an Internet site up where they break down the ages of the people who died while infected with covid.
It’s pretty cool check it out :dancer:
Makes sense.

Found it.
"coronavirus infected a higher number of young adults, yet admissions to hospital and deaths were higher in older age groups."

Actually I was wrong..
Of the 10,000 covid deaths less than 1,000 were people under 70.
So 90% were 70 and up.
Over 50% (5,000) were 80 and older.

There's more than life or deaths ...not one or the other...many people having lingering infections that cause permanent damage to brains, lungs and other internal orgns. I think it may even cause erectile dysfunction.

Alaska DHSS or (???) has ben airing public service announcements up here, featuring one of our earlier cases (back when we were a bit more responsible in our management of this), who had become infected in April.

He has changed a bit in appearance, is technically listed as 'recovered' wears and oxygen tank now, his heart and lungs are damaged, as is his pancreas, and other organs or systems in his body.. And it seems he's a far less rare case than the mounting mortality rates. His case is relatively common, within reason.

So maybe his commercials will convince some of the fence-sitters.

I doubt VERY much that these PSAs will do too much to convince those who have latched onto delusions re. the Virus as a method of managing otherwise-unmanageable stimuli/emotion/fears, which will ultimately lead more and more of them to a morgue of some sort, whether temporary and wheeled, or in a government building some place.

But for those who willfully and negligently (selfishly) infect others on a 'maybe' of doubts, they should be prosecuted for endangering others.

They have no more right to expose others to infection, putting those others at risk, than they do to drive drunk on a public roadway. It's a statement of individualism and selfishness that surpasses anything reasonably resembling reality.

As the hospitals in oklahoma full up, I heard from a friend that numerous nurses have tsekn the virus, one asked a friend to come by and run an iv for fluids so she could stay home knowing that taking a hospital bed for this would deprive others.
Second hand story true, but from a trusted friend of mine not given to hyperbole.

These terrifying long-term destructive effects of the virus, along with the rapid emergence of new, more contagious strains of the virus, as is currently being seen in London and parts of south-east UK, do lend credence to ongoing speculation about Covid19 being a weaponized microbe designed to confound treatment and preventative measures, even as they are perfected in medical research facilities working frantically to keep pace.

Meanwhile, China, the original source of this global contagion, is joyously on the road to eradicating Covid 19 entirely, thank you very much. How nice and convenient for them....

The new contagious strain which is keeping the UK in a strict lockdown, is also detected in the Netherlands recently and since last week we have a stricter lockdown too. Most of the non food shops are closed, only drugstores, pharmacies, petshops and supermarkets are open.Take away food are also open.
This is a heavy burden for most businesses, so 2021 will be an economical meltdown occur of big proportions.

Don't blame the Chinese. Fuck Trump for not willing to get his arms around it. Blaming the Chinese for covid is like blaming your neighbors for all the dandelions on your lawn.

Isn't there yet another surge in China? Shanghai is in lockdown. No in/out.

If covid was a biological weapon... it wouldn’t not be the Chinese people who were culpable or even aware.
It would be Winnie the Pooh and the CCP
You can’t blame a people for their tyrannical government (imo)

China reports 15 new COVID-19 cases vs 12 a day earlier
Mainland China reported 15 new COVID-19 cases on Dec. 10, up from 12 cases a day earlier, the country's national health authority said on Friday.

The National Health Commission said in a statement nine of the new cases were imported infections originating from abroad. Of the six locally transmitted cases, four were reported in Sichuan province and two in Heilongjiang province.

Really...CCP...

Bad metaphor good buddy.

When I moved into my latest house, there wasn't a dandelion to be found on our crescent. It was like that for 2-3 years, until my neighbour moved in next door. He never did anything to eradicate them. But that is a minor issue. An apt bldg 0.5km away, their lawn is yellow (and I DO mean yellow), and them seeds travel long distance (think of pollen). Now we have a dandelion pandemic going on here. This was further exacerbates with no more pesticides in HRM. Pulling them to one by one is not a solution.

I also have "creepy charlie" and "creeping Jenny" compliments of said neighbour. I spent thousands on my lot 3/4 acres (city). So I decided the next best step was to replace my grass with clover. Not only is clover a great ground cover (that stays green), that doesn't permit the growth of unwanted weeds, it replenishes the soil with nitrogen. Weeds thrive in nitrogen deficient soils. I will re-evaluate my lawn come late spring to see if I need to drop seeds again but, where the clover is (in patches) there is not a weed to be found :) :tiphat:

It's all the Chinese fault

At a personal level I've always been decidedly ambivalent about Chinese global influence, not that my sentiments matter in the grand scheme of things.

On the one hand, Chinese nationals fan out across this fragile planet, decimating ancient tropical forests for timber, annihilating rare wildlife for food, and poisoning vital waterways with illegal mining operations, all of which have grave implications for everyone, in the long term.

On the other hand, my beloved drone flying hobby would not have been possible without the availability of cheap Chinese drone technology, just as the vast majority of items on sale on store shelves in any given country, originate from China.

Finally I do recall the intimidating academic brilliance of Chinese nationals during my college years stateside, when I'd often be glad to scrape by with a "Gentleman C" grade, only to then look on with dismay as my Chinese classmates successfully argued their assigned exam grades from a "B" to an "A+", by pointing out obscure errors in the professor's grading.

Apologies for this minor digression from the flow here.

Wining?
Ingredients

2 quarts dandelion flowers

1 gallon filtered water

3 lemons (zest and juice)

3 oranges (zest and juice)

1 1/2 pounds sugar

3/4 pound golden raisins (chopped)

1 teaspoon yeast nutrient (or 2 tablespoons cornmeal)

1 (5-gram) packet wine yeast, or 1/2 teaspoon baking yeast
Optional:

1 cup simple syrup

Steps to Make It

Gather the ingredients.

Snip off most of the calyxes (green parts) from the base of the flowers and all of the stems. It’s OK if a little of the green goes in, but too much will result in a bitter wine.

Compost or discard the calyxes and stems. Put the trimmed petals in a nonreactive vessel (no aluminum, copper, or iron).

Bring the water to a boil and pour it over the flower petals. Let the mixture sit for 2 hours.

Place a colander lined with cheesecloth or butter muslin over a large, nonreactive pot and strain the dandelions, pressing gently on the flowers to extract as much of the liquid as possible. Compost or discard the dandelion petals.

Place the pot over high heat and bring the strained dandelion infusion to a boil.

Stir in the citrus juices and sugar, mixing to dissolve the sugar.

Add the lemon and orange zest and the chopped raisins. Remove from the heat and set aside to cool.

When the mixture has cooled to room temperature, stir in the yeast nutrient or cornmeal, and the wine or baking yeast.

Cover and leave at room temperature for 10 to 14 days, stirring 3 times each day.

Strain into a sanitized 1-gallon jug and seal with either a fermentation lock (available from online homebrewing and winemaking supplies) or a balloon with a single pinprick in it. (The pinprick allows gasses to escape during active fermentation, but the balloon still keeps detrimental bacteria out.)

After three weeks, siphon or carefully pour the liquid into another sanitized jug, leaving behind any yeasty sediment.

If there are more than 2 inches between the top of the wine and the rim of the bottle, top off with a simple syrup of equal parts sugar and water.

When the wine is clear, rather than cloudy, wait 30 more days and then siphon or carefully pour it into another jug, leaving behind any yeasty sediment on the bottom.

Refit with an airlock or pricked balloon.

Repeat this procedure every three months for nine months until almost no sediment is forming on the bottom of the jug anymore.

Funnel into sanitized bottles.

Cork the bottles.

Age for another year before drinking.

Serve and enjoy.
