Comfortably numb!
Ok.
I too fully support global trade. I have made myself depend on it for businuess. No BS there. Isolationism I like to a certain degree, just about enough. All balanced.
Im not sure if i would put Global CoopS with = peace and prosperity, but I can agree to disagree there.
So no problem with globalism in itself, but MY problem with it has to do with HOW and with WHOM and WHICH rules and laws.
I dont have a answear to that right now. . . Just questions.
We have :) Bingo!

Great to see the Department of Justice is investigating for all the folks in the nursing homes who were essentially murdered by allowing covid 19 patients into their residences!

And I'm sure an upsurge of cases hearing Mike Pence last evening at Ft. McHenry, the audience (many were seniors and disabled veterans) NO MASKS, NO SOCIAL DISTANCING, SHOUTING. Brother....

Vice President Mike Pence, the White House’s coronavirus point person, offered some of the most pointed comments of the Republican National Convention on the outbreak, vowing on Wednesday night that the U.S. would develop a successful vaccine before the end of the year.

But just moments after presenting himself as a reassuring authority on the raging virus, the maskless vice president, along with President Donald Trump, walked over to greet the mostly mask-free members of the audience, who crowded close to each other on the grounds of Fort McHenry in Baltimore.

The lack of masks and social distancing served as a jarring contrast. And it reaffirmed that while Trump and Pence belatedly accepted public health experts’ recommendations on face coverings and distancing, they are still eager to embrace their base’s skepticism of such precautions.

As the headliner of the penultimate night of the convention, Pence hailed the administration’s response to the virus, and rejected the notion that “no miracle” would save the country from a virus that has already killed nearly 180,000 Americans.

The vice president mourned that loss, praised frontline workers as “heroic,” and vowed that the U.S. would deliver on its promise of a vaccine.

“I’m proud to report that we’re on track to have the world’s first safe, effective coronavirus vaccine by the end of this year,” Pence declared.

Pence lamented that the pandemic had forced the postponement of his youngest daughter’s wedding. Then he shouted out his 87-year-old mother who sat, sans mask, among the crowd of around 100.

Nancy Pence wasn’t alone — Maryland’s mask mandate, which requires a face covering even while outdoors, where transmission is less likely, doesn’t extend to federal property like Fort McHenry, and hardly any attendees appeared to be wearing a mask.

After the speech, Pence and Trump walked over to greet maskless members of the audience, keeping some distance and remaining on the other side of a waist-high barrier between guests and the stage. Pence could be seen fist bumping one member of the audience, as other attendees milled about the space.

It’s unclear whether there is any testing protocol for attendees.

According to Reuters White House reporter Jeff Mason, guests for the speech told reporters they had not been tested for the coronavirus prior to the event.

Texas County Drops From 4600+ Active Covid Cases to Under 100 After Audit

Coronavirus impact has been politically exploited and grossly overstated

Kit Daniels | Infowars.com - August 27, 2020

Doubting the accuracy of State of Texas Covid-19 numbers, Collin Co., Texas, dropped its active case numbers from over 4600 to under 100 overnight after an audit.
Earlier this month, Collin Co.’s ‘Covid-19 Dashboard’ claimed over 4600 active cases in the county based on data provided by the Texas Dept. of State Health Services, prompting county officials to question the accuracy of the data because, presumably, the county’s hospitals weren’t overloaded.
Screen-Shot-2020-08-27-at-10.31.47-AM.png

“Collin County is providing COVID-19 numbers and data as a convenience to our residents, however, Department of State Health Services (DSHS) officials have acknowledged that the active case count for Collin County is significantly overstated,” reads a disclaimer on the county’s web site. “We advise residents that Collin County lacks confidence in the data currently being provided to us.”
“DSHS officials have agreed to immediately redirect resources to correct the issue, but have not provided a timeline on when their reports will be corrected.”
The DSHS data reported over 4600 active cases in Collin Co. on Aug. 25:

Compare that to the revised active cases on Aug. 26 of just 81:
082720active826.jpg

It appears most of the active cases were recalculated as ‘recovered:’
082720active827.jpg

According to the Community Impact newsletter:
County Judge Chris Hill said he has had “significant conversations” with DSHS officials about their plans to address issues raised by commissioners. After the revision to the disclaimer was approved, Hill explained DSHS planned to set up a Collin County work group Aug. 25 that will be committed to rectifying the county’s backlog of cases.
“They’re going to be working to call everyone who’s on that list that’s currently active to determine whether or not they’re still active or whether or not they’re recovered,” he said.
Hill said the work group will be checking whether patients currently classified as active cases of COVID-19 have been symptom-free for 10 days so they can be reclassified as recovered. He also explained that if the group is unable to reach a patient after three attempts, they will be reclassified as recovered.
The “work group” consists of 12 private contractors performing an audit of the data.
State officials claimed the inaccurate numbers were due to a “backlog” that had “recently included some older cases,” a questionable statement given that Collin Co. active case numbers were apparently overstated by over 5600%.

Flashback: A Collin Co. Judge warned that Texas’ case numbers would be inflated after the started counting “probable cases” without testing back in May.
In short, “some older cases” doesn’t explain the difference between 81 and over 4600.
Unfortunately, the DSHS data is what Texas Gov. Greg Abbott relied on when he advocated face mask wearing, business shutdowns and ‘social distancing’ across the state.
According to an Aug. 16 article by the El Paso Times:
“Listen, there’s a reality: People have had an altered state of life for the past few months. One that requires wearing a mask. One that requires staying at home if at all possible. One that reduces your level of [activity] with others,” Abbott said. “That’s a challenge, a once in a lifetime challenge, and it’s easy to get a sense of fatigue. It’s easy to want to stop having to comply with those standards.”
[…]
As of Thursday, the Texas Department of State Health Services was reporting 513,575 coronavirus cases in Texas, with an estimated 128,526 active cases. The state reported 9,289 fatalities.
This Aug. 16 active case number is now suspect given the recent revision by Collin Co.

Our man Big Don probably decided that since his alter-ego, President "Mad Dog" Bolsonaro of Brazil had no problems making a speedy recovery from Corona virus infection some weeks back, there would be no risk in contracting the pathogen himself, in the expectation of shaking it off in similar fashion.

Watched or stomached only a bit of his acceptance speech tonight. After a dozen lies, I had to turn off the TV. Cameras panned the crowd. Saw only 3 people wearing masks. With all the yelling, shouting, I suspect D.C. and area will have uptick in positive cases in about 5-8 days.

Everyone around here knows its all a fraud trying to control the people. You can take off your mask if you sit down but not if you stand up.

Its about control not about health! The facts are out there! The masks are a health hazard, and don't work to prevent spread of covid19. Do you actually think the virus stops at 6 ft?

CDC statistics have been shown to be a fraud on many levels.

Asymptomatic spread has been shown to be very weak.

Based on the most recent information available, both asymptomatic and presymptomatic transmission of the novel coronavirus may occur. Based on CDC studies, about 60% of COVID-19 cases are transmitted by people without symptoms. The possibility of COVID-19 transmission from people who are presymptomatic (meaning they have COVID-19 before symptoms appear) or asymptomatic (meaning a person is infected but their symptoms never develop) reinforces the value of masking, social distancing and the avoidance of large gatherings to reduce COVID-19 spread.

Horowitz: New study finds very weak asymptomatic coronavirus transmission

Daniel Horowitz · August 19, 2020

Aside from being an editor and contributor for a conservative fakenews outlet, i am not really sure what Daniel Horowitz’ background or expertise is. The piece above clearly ignores the mountains of evidence that has shown that covid19 has spread pre-symptomatically and/or asymptomatically in favor of a small “study” that in my opinion, is not conclusive of anything, particularly since it didnt take prevention measures such as mask wearing into account.
It should also be noted that there is growing evidence that the virus is spreading through aerosols as well as droplets. This could help explain how/why pre-symptomatic and asymptomatic spread is occurring.

COVID-19 reinfection reported in Nevada patient, researchers say

COVID-19 reinfection reported in Nevada patient, researchers say

As if we haven't diminished the first virus wave....here we go again, although low in numbers, it's happening. SECOND REINFECTIONS.
All the more reason to wash hands, wear masks, keep the distance.

Erika Edwards/Akshay Syal
NBC News•August 28, 2020

COVID-19 reinfection reported in Nevada patient, researchers say
A Nevada man appears to be the nation's first confirmed case of COVID-19 reinfection, researchers say.

The case is detailed in an online preprint, a study that has not yet been peer reviewed before officially being published.

The case involves a 25-year-old man living in Reno, Nevada, who first tested positive for COVID-19 in mid-April. He recovered, but got sick again in late May. The second time around, his illness was more severe, the case report said.

Researchers at the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine and the Nevada State Public Health Laboratory reported that genetic sequencing of the virus revealed that he had been infected with a slightly different strain, indicating a true reinfection.

Reinfection with the coronavirus appears to be rare. This is the first case reported among the nation's nearly 6 million cases so far.

"The evidence so far suggests that if you've been infected and recovered, then you're protected for some period of time," Dr. Ashish Jha, director of the Harvard Global Health Institute, said. "We don't know how long, and we're going to find individual cases of people for whom that's not true."

Indeed, on Monday, a case of COVID-19 reinfection was reported in Hong Kong -- the first such confirmation of reinfection during the pandemic. Two European patients, one in Belgium and one in the Netherlands, were also reported this week to have been reinfected with the virus.

But in those instances, the patients did not get sick the second time around, or they developed much milder forms of the illness than their first infection.

"You'd expect the second time around people to have much milder or ideally no symptoms," Jha said. That's because the immune system should be able to mount a more robust response, and the Hong Kong case was "completely consistent with that."

In the Nevada case, however, the man got sicker the second time. When he was first infected, he had typical symptoms for the coronavirus: headache, cough, sore throat, nausea and diarrhea. Within about 10 days, the symptoms cleared up, and he tested negative for the virus.

But a month later, on May 28, he started feeling sick again, experiencing dizziness as well as the previous symptoms.

The illness did not clear up quickly this time. Within a week, his blood oxygen level fell dangerously low. He needed help breathing, and was hospitalized. Once again, the man tested positive for SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19.

"That's very concerning," Dr. William Schaffner, an infectious disease expert at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, said.

"If this sort of reinfection is common, then we have to worry about how strong the protection will be that we get vaccines," Schaffner said.

If reinfection were common, however, "we would have seen it," Jha said. "There's so much disease in our country."

Maybe the reinfections are due to false positives the first time... Weren’t there some questionable quality tests floating about at the start ?
