Why would i possibly care about “globalism”?
I am more afraid of isolationism than globalism.
The opinion piece i posted strongly suggested that covid19 is being spread primarily through aerosols.
Isn’t covid19 the topic of discussion in this thread.

Im sorry, I have to ask, are you joking?

Van Morrison: “As you know, we are doing socially distanced gigs at Newcastle Upon Tyne’s Gosforth Park, Electric Ballroom and The London Palladium. This is not a sign of compliance or acceptance of the current state of affairs, this is to get my band up and running and out of the doldrums. This is also not the answer going forward. We need to be playing to full capacity audiences going forward.” “I call on my fellow singers, musicians, writers, producers, promoters and others in the industry to fight with me on this. Come forward, stand up, fight the pseudo-science and speak up. Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber and myself appear to be the only people in the music business trying to get it back up and running again. Come forward.”

sure, take musicians opinions over medical professionals advice. i mean, what could go wrong, right? LOL! "hey guys, i got an idea. lets get a fuckload of our fans infected with a disease! THAT will prove how "edgy" we are...":headbange

F.D.A. ‘Grossly Misrepresented’ Blood Plasma Data, Scientists Say
Many experts — including a scientist who worked on the Mayo Clinic study — were bewildered about where a key statistic came from.

By Katie Thomas and Sheri Fink
Aug. 24, 2020

Dr. Stephen M. Hahn, the F.D.A. commissioner, erroneously said on Sunday that convalescent plasma would have saved 35 percent of coronavirus patients this year.

At a news conference on Sunday announcing the emergency approval of blood plasma for hospitalized Covid-19 patients, President Trump and two of his top health officials cited the same statistic: that the treatment had reduced deaths by 35 percent.

Mr. Trump called it a “tremendous” number. His health and human services secretary, Alex M. Azar II, a former pharmaceutical executive, said, “I don’t want you to gloss over this number.” And Dr. Stephen M. Hahn, the commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration, said 35 out of 100 Covid-19 patients “would have been saved because of the administration of plasma.”

But scientists were taken aback by the way the administration framed this data, which appeared to have been calculated based on a small subgroup of hospitalized Covid-19 patients in a Mayo Clinic study: those who were under 80 years old, not on ventilators and received plasma known to contain high levels of virus-fighting antibodies within three days of diagnosis.

What’s more, many experts — including a scientist who worked on the Mayo Clinic study — were bewildered about where the statistic came from. The number was not mentioned in the official authorization letter issued by the agency, nor was it in a 17-page memo written by F.D.A. scientists. It was not in an analysis conducted by the Mayo Clinic that has been frequently cited by the administration.

“For the first time ever, I feel like official people in communications and people at the F.D.A. grossly misrepresented data about a therapy,” said Dr. Walid Gellad, who leads the Center for Pharmaceutical Policy and Prescribing at the University of Pittsburgh.

It is especially worrisome, he said, given concerns over how Mr. Trump has appeared to politicize the process of approving treatments and vaccines for the coronavirus. Over the next couple of months, as data emerges from vaccine clinical trials, the safety of potentially millions of people will rely on the scientific judgment of the F.D.A. “That’s a problem if they’re starting to exaggerate data,” Dr. Gellad said. “That’s the big problem.”

I fully support global cooperation/collaboration/trade. Why shouldn’t i? Isolationism tends to be correlated with poor economic results, war and tyranny.
Global cooperation/collaboration is correlated with peace and prosperity.
I choose the latter.

< PBS is a straight shooter, no partisan leaning....just the facts.>

You trust what comes out of Judy Woodruff's mouth? She is a partisan liar. I have formed my own opinion about what is going on, and like I said, it saddens me to see Americans fooled so easily.

This whole WuFlu discussion is something I will try to avoid, like that SC. Just too much BS, from people who are so sure of themselves.

The end of January will be interesting. This country is not coming back together. I am on the side of truth and liberty.

Hitlery clintoon has already come out and said joe and the ho should not accept election defeat and concede, because mail-in ballots will be coming in well after the election is over.

I'll stick with Dr. Fauci and our Dept of Health.

Yes, science is a method, and according to the dictionary: a systematically organized body of knowledge on a particular subject.

PLANDEMIC is riddled with falsehoods/lies/presumptions that are incorrect according to science FACTS.

That's how Sturgis was....Health officials in South Dakota, Nebraska, and Minnesota have now traced multiple new COVID-19 cases back to a motorcycle rally held in Sturgis, South Dakota between August 7 and 16.
The rally, which drew hundreds of thousands of bikers to the 6,900-person city, has been tied to 15 new coronavirus cases in Nebraska, seven in Minnesota, and multiple incidences in South Dakota....and that's from 7 days ago. Imagine an increase more than 15.

One can understand the call of the open road astride a Harley, the camaraderie of the biker brotherhood, the pleasures of the biker mamas, the lure of a friendly or unfriendly duke-out, and the smell of fine weed in the morning, but where I still remain utterly baffled, is how anyone in their right mind, could consider themselves IMMUNE by personal designation, during a pandemic that is still still roaring along at full throttle.

The mass gatherings that continue to occur WORLDWIDE, of which the Sturgis biker fest is but one example, simply defy rational explanation. Seeing footage of such lemming-like gatherings of human beings in their thousands, packed cheek to jowl without a care in the world, is akin to watching a bunch of toddlers playing along the middle of railroad tracks, even as the fog-horn blows from up close.

So many of the conspiracy theory gluttons, who STILL refuse to accept that the corona virus is real, is deadly, and is spreading, despite all the CREDIBLE scientific and medical evidence available, are literally committing suicide as surely and inevitably as they would playing Russian Roulette.

"some" of them will be missed. others, not so much...can't fix stupid, and i'm beginning to think it should not be attempted. think you are immortal? have at it. if there was only a way to restrict the virus to those that do not believe it is real...like a vaccine maybe? :bigeye:

Well, not literally. Even playing Russian Rouletee isn't literally suicide. Literally is one of the newly much-abused words. However, I don't disagree with the thrust of the post.

There are many good things to come from internet technology, but I think that on balance it is a net negative for humankind. Conspiracy theories and literacy are just two factors.

There was a story recently https://www.foxnews.com/us/bison-south-dakota-video-motorcycle
about bikers in South Dakota coming from Sturgis [we think] and the bikers stopped because bison were on the road. One biker mama got off the bike and approached a bison cow and calf to take photos - because they were cute, no doubt. The cow attacked and threw the woman and knocked her unconscious. It also, by chance, ripped her pants completely off, but she may not have objected to that part. Oddly, she seems not to have been seriously injured.

If you search ""man reinfected by coronavirus"" you'll get a zillion hits about a Hong Kong man who recovered from SARS-2 coronavirus (the current coronavirus) and then caught it again a few month later. Medical types worry that this means that this may mean that immunity which the body's immune system creates, may not last very long. The fear, I think, is that the virus may never stop being the threat it is today.

Ok.
I too fully support global trade. I have made myself depend on it for businuess. No BS there. Isolationism I like to a certain degree, just about enough. All balanced.
Im not sure if i would put Global CoopS with = peace and prosperity, but I can agree to disagree there.
So no problem with globalism in itself, but MY problem with it has to do with HOW and with WHOM and WHICH rules and laws.
I dont have a answear to that right now. . . Just questions.
