they also say that wearing a facemask, if you have the virus, can cause it to concentrate in your nasal passages to the point of being able to enter the brain and cause worse symptoms

I live in a remote rural area where I have practiced "social distancing" long before the phrase was coined and became fashionable, and so now, because of my isolated location, I have the luxury of choosing whether or not to wear a surgical mask, ever.

Since I get claustrophobia real bad, even when it is only my breathing that is restricted, I confess that I have never once in my life worn a surgical mask, and given that I don't plan on leaving my remote hamlet until this contagion burns itself out, it is highly unlikely that I will ever wear a mask of any sort, for as long as I live.

Hearing that a mask can actually worsen virus symptoms, means I have yet another reason to skip the Michael Jackson look for as long as I possibly can.

A mask can increase exposure - if you lick the outside after talking to a checkout worker who is obviously infected.

Gloves won't protect you if you're next at the buffet after the infected person who coughed on the spoon that you are next to grab. and then put your latex-clad finger - with the viruses - into your nose.

masks & gloves are tools you can use to protect yourself. But they don't protect people from Stupid.

as far as the closing of businesses.

they closed the local gun range, which is a huge gun range.

Social distancing is what happens 99.9% of the time.

and everybody stays home except for trips to crowded stores ?!

they were last to close. I wouldn't be surprised if the county health "officer" forced it, because he is not the brightest bulb.

In Iowa I have seen 2 out of 3 people are not wearing masks.... and this is in the worst hit part of the whole state.

There is also no scientific evidence for the effectiveness of face masks in healthy or asymptomatic individuals. On the contrary, experts warn that such masks interfere with normal breathing and may become “germ carriers”. Leading doctors called them a “media hype” and “ridiculous”.

Masks Don't Work: A review of science relevant to COVID-19 social policy

Masks and respirators do not work. There have been extensive randomized controlled trial (RCT) studies, and meta-analysis reviews of RCT studies, which all show that masks and respirators do not work to prevent respiratory influenza-like illnesses, or respiratory illnesses believed to be transmitted by droplets and aerosol particles. Furthermore, the relevant known physics and biology, which I review, are such that masks and respirators should not work. It would be a paradox if masks and respirators worked, given what we know about viral respiratory diseases: The main transmission path is long-residence-time aerosol particles (< 2.5 μm), which are too fine to be blocked, and the minimum-infective-dose is smaller than one aerosol particle. The present paper about masks illustrates the degree to which governments, the mainstream media, and institutional propagandists can decide to operate in a science vacuum, or select only incomplete science that serves their interests. Such recklessness is also certainly the case with the current global lockdown of over 1 billion people, an unprecedented experiment in medical and political history.

Guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention don't require N95 masks for covid-19 caregivers.

That is nurses working directly with covid patience.
The N95 mask filters out 95% of all airborne particles, administrators at his hospital said they weren't necessary and didn't provide them.

CDC and hospital administration say you don't need one working at the hospital.

Is there a reason to wear a mask on the street, if you don't need one working in the hospital?

If you are wearing the best mask in the world, and when I speak to you and you can feel the air from my voice on your eyeballs.....

Are you protected from the virus if I am sick and shedding virus?

Why is their no talk of eye protection?

Stand that close to me and I'll kick you in the nuts.

Well I am not sure that is the best answer.
We see folks like that on the news more and more these days.

My point is, a nurse has the need to stand that close to a sick patient.
If she is wearing the best mask in the world would she be protected?
Or should the nurse say, "If that sick man get within 6 feet of me I will kick him in the nuts."

What about a sick cop that wants to arrest you?
Can't kick him in the nuts without trouble.

The question I ask is:
Do you still stand a high chance of being infected while wearing the best mask in the world properly?

Now do you see the point I am trying to make?
Why is there no talk of eye protection?

I see your back in full swing, and as usual full of inuendo and guess work. However, I will answer your Q.

Military personnel in fully Bio chem suits are protected. Some of the shit military personnel are exposed to, is far deadlier and far "SMALLER" than corona. So yes there is a mask.

I really gotta wonder how many people have to die for some people to take this seriously? Or maybe...they like americans dying. Hmmm.

Lets hope we don't end up with more deaths from a severe depression then a virus. This CCP flu virus is nowhere near the danger of the 1918 Spanish flu

i wear a welding mask at the store.

kind of Freddy Krueger ish but it works.

i took a pair of gun range safety glasses - not meant to be worn with a mask - and drilled 2x 3/8 holes in the side pieces.

i managed to get through one trip to the grocery store but they were fogging pretty bad.

If I can feel your breath on my eyeballs, pandemic or otherwise, we are either married or you are way closer than 6 feet from me....or we're drunk and passing a dube over a good laugh.

Glad your back Shaggy.

If I try to make a statement outright, I get a million silly questions.
So I try to get folks thinking for themselves.
As you see here, it is not an easy task.

Why are you explaining military chem suites to me?
Do those fancy military suits you are on about, have eye protection?
I think that is what you are trying to say, I just don't know?

I was simply trying to say....
If your eyes are not protected you are not protected.

I thought that I was pretty clear, but we all uptake differently.

It is an easy concept to grasp if you think about it for a while...LOL

Or wear your mask thinking you are protected, in reality you are not.
