sure is interesting to watch.

i don't feel like spending more than 5 minutes curve fitting the statistics, which is how you figure out where we will be in 4 weeks.

last week death toll increased 6 and change, this week it's on course to increase 5 and change.

part of that kind of exponential growth is that the total death toll last Sunday - 2500 - will become the daily death toll in about ten days, i.e. next Tuesday Wednesday.

it is a tidal wave almost literally.

There is a surreal air to news reports that bombard us daily on TV. The death toll keeps rising as though by the script of a horror movie, or some demented hallucination from which one cannot snap out.

The world will be changed forever, when the final tally is compiled by the survivors. Air travel as we know it, is set to become a quaint artifact of a bygone civilization, while video conferencing will become the norm, as the concept of face-to-face board meetings is relegated to the pages of history.

Whether movie theaters, musical concerts, restaurants, places of mass worship and communal gyms continue to thrive in the Post Corona Era, remains open to conjecture at this point.

Given the source of the current pandemic, in China's squalid "wet markets" where all manner of endangered wildlife are displayed in tiny little cages for sale to eat, the emergence of MORE pandemics in the coming years is absolutely guaranteed, making the currently unfolding Corona virus akin to Mother Nature's opening salvo, in response to the culinary habits insisted upon by the good folks of Wuhan and other places.

Captain of aircraft carrier with growing coronavirus outbreak pleads for help from Navy

The captain of a nuclear aircraft carrier with more than 100 sailors infected with the coronavirus pleaded Monday with U.S. Navy officials for resources to allow isolation of his entire crew and avoid possible deaths in a situation he described as quickly deteriorating.

The unusual plea from Capt. Brett Crozier, a Santa Rosa native, came in a letter obtained exclusively by The Chronicle and confirmed by a senior officer on board the aircraft carrier Theodore Roosevelt, which has been docked in Guam following a COVID-19 outbreak among the crew of more than 4,000 less than a week ago.

I can think of persons in more benign positions for the government to leave dangling and drive to the edge of unhinged panic.

Let's leave a guy on a nuclear warship in a position of feeling like he has no support. How could that go wrong?

<I typically don't engage in overt sarcasm unless the point is pure humor, but this circumstance, and the cruise ships off Florida, defines us, or at least takes a stab at defining those claiming to be in charge>.

There's an article in the Anchorage paper the other day re. an older couple hunkering in their state room, on a boat that has growing number of dead and infected, with Floridians saying, essentially, NIMBY.

How many of those folks sit in church on Sunday and plead for their salvation for being good Christians, or (???). Faith is harder for some to walk than others. Always has been.

Phillipines president..SHOOT THEM DEAD!!

'Shoot them dead': Duterte warns against violating lockdown
Warning from Philippine president comes after slum dwellers stage protests over lack of food amid coronavirus crisis.

In my observation, that seems to be Duterte's answer to solve any problem he believes he can insert it into, and get away with it. Many in his Country believe his gangs of rogue police officers killing suspected drug dealers and users are righteous souls.

Where's an asteroid when you really need one?

Toilet Paper is so... last thing...

Masks are the new shit! Yeah! Lets all go violently crazy, cos no one without a mask, has a chance to survive! USA, USA, USA!

Seriously... Isn't the whole Corona-Panic-Egoist-Idiot-Thing getting old? Just stay at home, for a while, there is basically nothing you can win, by fueling the panic. ;) But you can win a lot of respect, just whistle a friendly melody, right in the faces of the beaten.

Stay safe and start to see the beauty of things.

We're probably in very different social climates, but I haven't seen any assaults related to obtaining anything, even in our local news, let alone up close and in person. I think there's literally been more violence in shopping outlets here on Black Fridays of the past, than there have been in this event.

As was stated, people WILL need to get things at times. And the masks often do more to protect persons who are near the person wearing the mask, as they do to keep persons with masks from becoming infected.

In either case, fewer infections means less overwhelming at hospitals and clinics. Ours here are not yet overwhelmed, and if we keep it that way, folks in critical condition will have a lot better chance of getting properly treated.

I'm all for that, and I don't even care for much of our species, based on semi-objective assessment of our history on the planet. Call it selfish interest to have fewer infections if/when I become ill, as a person in a compromised group.

Many of us have found ways to possess better than N95s, without hitting the PPE markets and doing harm to them.

We've sewn double-layered flannel masks (awesome purple unicorn patterns from pajama material, by the way; remnants bought at .99cents/yard on clearance. As I told the clerk, nothing says 'festive pandemic' like a purple unicorn pattern).

BTW, you can open the top edge of such a flannel mask, and insert various sheeted filter paper in there, up to MERV16 (.3 mic), if you can find such filter material in a sheeted, thin enough material.

The brass clips from some binders can be attached to make the part that crimps the mask more tightly to the bridge of the nose, so (if you wear glasses) you're not chronically fogged up when trying to get your groceries.

We also recycled older masks from my shop and basement, and acquired GVS-manufactured Elipse P100 stuff of 2 varieties, and are intent on building a UV light box to recycle filters more safely, WITHOUT hitting the supply chain so hard for refills.

Nothing wrong in my opinion with EVERYONE trying to keep themselves safer, and by that approach, helping to keep those around them safer.

My older son works in a nat'l grocery chain during evening shifts, and though we don't talk, and may never again, as a result of lines in the sand, I want every person near him, as well as him, to be wearing a mask & gloves, at a bare minimum. He just got a $2/hr 'hero bonus' for putting his life on the line so folks can get food. I'm both encouraged and bitter about that, let alone the folks I see walk in there, handle shit, put it back on the shelf, walk on, etc., NOT wearing masks or gloves.

My daughter is an RN in a military hospital where they have all of 2 ventilators and 2 negative pressure rooms, with the same or similar short supply of PPE many in that field have.

I want EVERY person in my son's and daughter's presence to be using sanitizer on their hands, arms, gloves, etc., and to be wearing gloves and masks.

some folks made a bag valve mask squeezer.

this will save a lot of National Guard people from Charley Horses in their wrists and hands.

New York is training National Guard to squeeze the bag valve masks for patients.

The situation is that that is a 1 to 2 week around the clock commitment.

I was thinking about this, you just need one oscillating mechanism like a windshield wiper assembly.

Medscape just posted an alphabetical listing of over 100 healthcare professionals (worldwide) who have died from COVID19

https://www.google.com/url?q=https:...sntz=1&usg=AFQjCNEXS17tkmIWUUAu40aUCC3FWQQe9A

The list at the link, again, is alphabetized, and multiple pages long, listing name, credentials/position, hospital or clinic name, location, etc. The deceased are from around the world. A somber email.

The link is one sent to me by Medscape. I'm registered there. Don't know if it will open for others, or if folks will need to register.

Please stay home, and if not, wear masks, gloves, and sanitize regularly.. everything you can.

Hmm...CNN reporting...

Some Americans could wait 20 weeks to receive stimulus checks, IRS tells House Democrats

Washington (CNN)Americans likely won't begin to see direct payments from the coronavirus stimulus bill until at least April 13 and it could take 20 weeks for all the checks to be mailed, Trump administration officials told lawmakers, according to a House Democratic memo obtained by CNN.

The timeline means tens of millions of Americans will have to wait to get badly needed assistance, despite repeated earlier suggestions from Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin that the money would go out as soon as April 6.
Mnuchin said at Thursday's White House coronavirus briefing that payments would go out within two weeks to people whose direct deposit details are on file with the government, echoing comments he made this past Sunday after passage of the $2.2 trillion stimulus bill that payments would not go out until mid-April.
He added that a web portal would be established for people to supply their details and that checks would be sent to anyone else, but did not specify a timeline.

i trust Chris Martenson. He has been pretty explicit - soap is plenty good enough, because of the nature of the virus 'exo-skeleton'.

A little bit like using Safer's on spider mites.

Dr. John Campbell takes the trouble to explain medical grade hand-washing. Like surgeons, you get a glance at it in the Breaking Bad episode when he goes in for a lumpectomy, and the surgeon actor is washing their hands.

You can buy all the masks you want from china right now.
But they are over a buck a piece.

You can get hand sanitize and gloves too.

I did not, but it is available.

I saw the hands of my PA who 'assisted' (likely acted as primary) in my spine surgery. Her hands were raw during many appointments, before and after, quite literally, from so much abrasion and the type of cleaner they use (which I still have a stash of here, btw).

Thus, asking in a serious way, in consideration of Johns Hopkins information, that healthy skin (i.e., no wounds) is relatively impenetrable for/by the virus, doesn't that sort of hand-washing leave one more vulnerable in between the scrubbing?.

Acting Navy secretary said captain did not prevent letter decrying virus conditions from getting to media
SAN DIEGO — The captain of a San Diego-based aircraft carrier battling an outbreak of COVID-19 on his ship was fired as commanding officer Thursday, days after his letter decrying conditions on his ship became public.
Acting Navy secretary Thomas Modly announced the firing during a Pentagon news conference.

“At my direction, the commanding officer of the USS Theodore Roosevelt, Capt. Brett Crozier, was relieved of command by a carrier strike group commander, Rear Adm. Stuart Baker,” Modly said.

Capt. Brett Crozier wrote a letter late Sunday asking the Navy to remove 90 percent of the crew of the Theodore Roosevelt to halt the “ongoing and accelerating” spread of COVID-19 on board. That letter was published Tuesday by the San Francisco Chronicle and generated headlines nationwide.

^^ He is mentally ill sifted, leave him alone. He is consistent though. Mossad, Zionists, they the debil.

I was thinking of retiring but am kind of retired now by the virus. Two nights of work a week, and short hours. Working nights as I can avoid coworkers that way.

Have some kind of cold or allergy but none of the symptoms of the covid crap. Regular sneezing and congestion.

I am not certain I was not exposed to the covid months ago. Lots of hacking around me, and my boss was out for a week sick, which he never did before that I remember.

ENCEPHALITIS

something worth being afraid of.

https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/coronavirus-may-cause-brain-damage-21804695

Looks like some patients are having the virus spread through their blood to their brain.

read the article if you want to find another reason to take it seriously.

the big deal with Herpes is the danger it poses to newborns, and for them the big danger is ==> Encephalitis.

Also another reason to make sure you get a small initial exposure to the virus, AKA inoculum. Your immune system has a much better chance of dealing with it.

"Coronavirus ... Outlook"

getting back to the title of this thread.

The outlook for the US is about as grim as could be.

The US gov. is going to start pushing masks after 80% of the population has been exposed.

It's like closing the barn door 2 months after the horses escaped.

Damn the US is giving itself the Maximum pain and damage from Covid19.
