Yo Doc, i was wondering could i still achieve the same results even if i dont submerge water?! Its gonna be hard for me to submerge all of the grow bags but if i absolutely have to, on order to obtain the nice yields i will.

The "Dunkin" is so that ALL the soil mix is used in my small containers.
It is not as important in a larger container. :rasta:

Hey Dr. Bud I have a question about watering...

I know you have written that you water every other day. Is that a scheduled thing for you or do you wait and let the plants tell you when they are thirsty? I am growing out my seedlings in 20oz pop bottles, and so far in veg they are still pretty wet until the 4th day.

I expect they will need more water once they begin to stretch into flowering, so I guess the question is....How dry do you let your girls get before giving them a dip?

Thanks!

How do you put 27 4" pots in a 24" x 14" x 28" box? that only works out to 18 4" pots

24" / 4" = 6
14" / 4" = 3.5 (roughly 3)

3 rows of 6 = 18 pots

thats only 24 plants harvested every 8 weeks at 3 every week.

4" pots? who is using 4" pots ?

they are 1Ltr bottles which are 3.5"s

thats 9 rows of 3 bottles

But now I use 20oz bottles and they are 2.5"s

and 38 bottles fit in there that way :smoke:

Hempy.....fill a bottle with your soil mix (Dry) and don't water it .

use it to gauge when to dunk the one with yur' plants in them.
Time between waterings depends on alot of factors :rasta:

I plan on doing this myself. I wanna get some bud like every month. But need to find a plant that produces allot of weight. Have a mom clone it every month an veg it for 3-6 months an flower it however long it takes to have some nice indica trichs.

Somewhere I thought you said 4" containers, but even at 3.5" thats still 3x6 rows, and at 2.5" that 3x9 rows.
your box must be a tad bigger that stated,

im not arguining with you, im just confused trying to dial mine in.
you still using 5 lights? how many total lumens are you pushing? How did you figure your Lumens per sq in.?

Hey DrBudGreengenes, I must say, I owe you an apology. I loved your grow methods from the get go. But I was a skeptic when It comes to growing in those little soda bottles. my main concerns was how would I water all those little containers I have kept plants in small contains to long before so I Know how they act when they are not getting what they need, and need to be transplanted. I have a little over 50 seedlings outside and they are still in the cups (this is a older pic they are a little bigger now and in full sun)

But the way I have always watered them ( outside) is to just spray them with the water hose and when I need to feed them I mix up some food in water and pour it in the top a little at a time,,,,And when I have had a couple seedlings I germinated all together I just scooped up some soil with the seedlings and soaked it in water to separate each plant like these

So I was thinking soaking the soil would make a sloppy mess :spank: , a few minutes ago I was watering my outdoor seedlings and I thought what the hell, and let me tell you and whom ever else who reads this, dunking works like a champ, and from now on Thats the only way I will be doing it!!! I don't know if its the compression in the cups or how it works but it works a hell of a lot better than the way I have always done it before, I am sorry I didn't just take your word for it. So I have realized the first thing I need to do I forget everything I thought I knew about growing and learn from the best,,Thanks again man! peace

the Footprint of the box is 24"s x 14"s so we take...

24 / 2.5" = 9.6

14 / 2.5" = 5.6

38 plants but around 32 seems to work well in there.
I will add a pic later when the lights come on......
I have enuff emptys to show ya' it....."Full to the gills"

Now I use 210 watts of cfl's
they are 42 watts and put out 2600 Lumens each for a total of .....13000
the floor is 24" x 14" = 336 sq inches
13000 Lumens / 336 sq inches = 38.69 LPSI :headbange

sweet,
my box is pretty much just like yours, except a 1/2" shorter on both sides, but 48" tall.
same setup and all.

Im gonna try a top and bottom grow in my dresser, I can hold 18 20oz cups on each level, so thats 38 cups.

I just aquired a shit load of 4oz gravy cups that I will use for cloning, then transplant into 20oz cups,

And I rooted my first clone the other day :jump: :headbange
Toxic Blue, she will be filling up my box once I harvest these wild monsters I have in there right know.

You did exactly what I was wondering about! This was the "5th Grow: Budosia" that was linked to in your signature right? Your plants look great, nice and compact with that single cola profile I'm hoping for. Did you have to prune them to a single cola or did they just grow that way naturally in those small containers?
And honestly even if I only got an 1/8th ounce from each plant I'd be totally happy, since I only smoke once a month or so and I usually end up giving away most of my harvest to friends.

I'm also wondering what you thought of 11/13 from seed? Do you think it gave you more compact plants than 12/12 from seed and did they finish much faster than they usually do under 12/12?

Anyhoo, thanks again for sharing your wisdom! It seems like you've already done (and succeeded marvelously at) what I'm hoping to do on my next grow :smoke:

Here is a Nirvan AK48 that I done 12/12 from seed a while back.
She was in a 1l square pot in a rockwool cube with clay balls, fed the Canna range of nutes.
She turned out real cute, sort of Christmas tree like...and a real good yield of around an Oz of solid hard, dense nuggets.

Congrats on the 100,000 views, doc!

You certainly have been a great influence to many people. I most certainly will switch to CFLs and SOG because of you (when I get the chance to grow again). Thank you for all the help!

I've been lurking this thread for a couple of months now lol, and I really want to try this out.
I have 4 chambers total, a mother chamber 80w CFL, a clone chamber 40w cfl, and two flower chambers: 250w hps, and 150w hps. The 250w hps chamber is taller than the 150w chamber and both are on light raisers, but the 250watter can be raised higher. The 150w HPS is 16,000 lumens and the 250w HPS is around 28,000 lumens, and both are covering a 2 sq.ft area.

Now I have a few questions if you find the time:
1) Should I use a fixed height for the hps' using your method?
2) What kind of yeild do you think is possilbe per clone in each chamber; do you think there will be an increase in yeild from the 150w HPS to the 250w HPS, even though they will be in 16-20 oz bottles?
3) You dunk your bottles in nutrient solution like an ebb n flo? Does this mean you need holes on the bottom for drainage?
3) What kind of setup would you run if you had the space I had?

It would be great if you could answer my questions.

Thanks,
You're a good man
