I was going to say 3k-5k all day
Some guy on IG paid 110k for it...

..... Id like to see confirmation that the check cleared the bank...
seems like a real long shot buying glass pieces and hoping to get close to what you paid for it, especially the more expensive pieces. The artist can come up with whatever price they want, if its not sold its collecting dust somewhere. If your talking about the artist kicking back most of the sale to someone else, anything's possible but that's a huge potential charge for little relative gain to the artist.Something to keep in mind is that large growers will buy glass pieces from someone as a way of funneling money. Now the 110k doesn't seem smart, but it is possible.
I don't know all of the ins and outs, but there are people laundering money via expensive glass pieces.
Being that it is art, how can you put a price on it? The artist sets the price, and that's the price right?
I just learned about this not to long ago. Growers are driving up the prices on glass pieces just like they do on real estate here in Denver.

Yeah, I'm not doubting this business plan makes sense to some. When your making 100k single glass sales, you would have to assume I.R.S. goons are too stupid to understand a twenty + fold markup compared to a similar piece. If its all under the table it doesn't matter, but if you wanted to survive an audit you'd be on thin ice. A case of risk vs. reward for me really, min 3 years prison for a money laundering conviction plus 15k + fines. Plus growing up my dad got audited twice, and he works as a teacher, pretty straight job and so is he. I'm guessing MHG has some glass to move, which figures into this somehow. I get it, worked full time a few years producing ceramics and sculpture, getting a following can take time and bills need to get paid.
City Council votes Tuesday March 8th to ban Social Cannabis Clubs in Colorado Springs! We need you all to stand against the ban! Colorado Springs City Council will discuss this Tuesday at 1PM. Please try to be there!!
huh? I'm not selling 100k pieces. We sell inexpensive pieces.
I've been audited twice, and no matter how tight you think your accounting is, it isn't.
There are always mistakes made. We are only human after all.
Earlier in the thread there was mention of a 110k sale of a glass piece by Bobby.. Haven't even heard of one that high by anyone else.
yhea, maybe not THAT high, but have you been to illuzions lately? there are 10k+ pipes in there that actually turn over.... i've heard tell of some super high end denver glass going for 5 digits, which imo is pretty damn impressive for an artist to get that much for functional glass, bigups to them.
