So I think I've named too many strains with the "Smurph" pre/suffix for now, so i'm going to rename my latest cross, "Smurph's OG", which was talked about a few pages ago.

The cross is a lovely Tahoe OG with an SFV OG that was on its last legs, it performs indica through and and through, often growing into 1 gigantic cola despite all efforts on the part of the grower to train it, the flavor is utterly Tahoe dominant, and the resin content is wonderful, my test blasts of the chosen example mother have returned up to 25% of their weight as Wax/Shatter when allowed to mature to a full 9 weeks despite the plants seeming fast finishing time. It is unfortunately a very slow vegger, but when allowed to do so extensively it can be a true beast, I could barely encircle the colas with both hands with, fingertips only just touching, indoors, on a 3ft tall plant.

So, i'd like to come up with a name that is appropriate to the strain as well as its parentage. More generic ideas have been tossed around such as Denver OG, 303 OG, Colorado OG, Rocky Mountain OG, etc. I am leaning towards "Mountain Valley OG" Mountain for the Tahoe mother, Valley for the SFV.

Opinions?

Photos are stuck sideways, must play with camera settings later, think its a dimensions thing.

Can you put one of the leafs up to a normal sized hand for comparison? I don't know how you got a baby to stand still for that picture. :)

Meh. Going on about what the Feds might do is an exercise in paranoia, afaict.

Certain facts must be taken into account.

1. State authorities do not enforce federal law, only state law. In the past, CO law & federal law were congruent wrt cannabis. That's no longer true.

2. Only a vote of the people can change the CO state constitution which contains certain protections for caregivers & personal growers. CO authorities can't enforce laws that no longer exist.

3. Attempts to pressure the legislature are pointless when the legislature lacks the power to respond as desired.

4. The Feds have already abdicated control to state authorities other than wrt interstate transport & sale. Congress has denied funding for enforcement against state legal mmj providers & the Admin has disallowed enforcement of state legal retail operations.

5. Any attempt by the Feds to enforce federal law in disregard of the CO state constitution invites jury nullification, prosecutors' worst nightmare.

6. Current attempts to rein in caregivers originate at the state & local level, not the federal level. In that, enforcement is complaint driven, generally beginning at the knock & talk level. It's also driven by discovery when other issues arise.

It's not what I do, being just an A64 compliant personal grower, but I really think that concerns over the Feds among state compliant caregivers are overblown.

Yeh, sure, the DEA would bust every one of our hippie-dippie asses given the chance & the resources but there's really no indication that they'll get it anytime RSN.

LoL I thought that's what the shot with the hat was for, it completely covers a standard adult snap back baseball cap like a tarantula encircling its prey :biggrin::biggrin:

ColorOGo
Red Rocks OG
PEAK OG
I really love these three.

ColorOGo makes it sound exotic, and less like the other million OGs out there, "you must venture into the heart of the Rockys, to find the man who grows the ColorOGo my son..." I envision it being said by the most interesting man in the world, in his awesome accent.

And since it grows into a single giant cola, like a mountain peak, Peak OG is definitely a good idea as well.

Mountain Valley and ColorOGo are definitely the top 2 contenders right now, ty!

Another OG? OG is like so last year....

I think that was just a couple months ago too...
Fans of my genetics wanted an "OG", so I gave them a manly one that felt unique, smurphed the hell out of it :)

On the plus side I used original regional OG cuts, not like the people who just named their dankest strain OG for marketing purposes.

I don't know the whole back story on OG, but my understanding is OG stands for Ocean Grown? With that line of thinking shouldn't you change that up a little, instead of OG, CG, or toss the C (for Colorado) in front of the OG= COG.

OG in its original form (if it every really existed) is long lost imo. OG became the new strain that everyone wanted, have a dank cut you need to sell? Call it OG. But its real name and origins are shrouded behind false claims, half remembered stories, and marketing.

Some say Ocean Grown (Tahoe Ocean Grown???)
Some say it was named for Overgrow.com
Some say Original Gangster of course
And remember if you get BOG talking on the right day, he'll talk about that tray of clones he sent to the person he regarded as OG Kush's originator.

I've heard a lot of versions over the years. This is another reason that involving OGs in a cross makes them a head scratcher.

Also I agree with MJ, in a retail shop situation I could see that as an 1100+ dollar piece, straight from the blower I could see it for 600.

Been AWOL for a bit. Glad to see the Colorado Growers Thread alive and well.

Great pics SooperSmurph, those leaves are amazing. Nothing wrong with one giant cola; I liked Peak OG as well.
