Hey DJM in your cloning guide you said

"- flush sheets with a fresh solution of the same strength and ph"

what do you mean by "sheets" did you mean soaking the cuts with a fresh solution of the same strength (350ppms) and ph (5.7) after soaking them overnight in regular phd water?

If I remember correctly, he doesn't soak the rockwool sheets overnight. He soaks them for about 30mins a 350ppm solution and then flushes them out with more solution of the same strength.

The sheets he is talking about is a sheet of rockwool cubes that are stuck together not the individually wrapped ones.

Donny Boy!!! how goes it my friend?!?

News on my front is I just got done with my :moon: reaming, will be getting rode by them for another thirty months. At least they didn't drop a dime on me like they wanted to, thats what my legal eagle was for.

But now i got a whole slew of questions that i really need my hand held on and hoping you can just go through um one by one.

alrighty…

1. You water 6x a day, do you water every 4 hours or every 2 hours with lights on?

2. Does the extra the water the pump can't pump out of the rez cause issues because theres always at least 1" of water in the rez?

3. If the res fills once a day, do you have a smaller pump in the res to help circulate the solution? or do you tee of the main pump so it mixes the tank when it feeds the plants?

4. do you ever have issues with lines going anaerobic when running strictly synthetics through (funky smell when drippers first start running)?

5. I was figuring this out and it seems the way to ensure the system doesn't leak is to get quality parts. So for the solenoid i was going to get this zone valve (normally closed and wired to a 120v plug) http://www.dwyer-inst.com/Product/V...JaAfKx3_QVPFx1yvWmr9w1xQwXaVws3j0iBoCU5fw_wcB and hook it up to the sentinel digital recycling timer http://growhome.com/Environmental-C...nel-Repeat-Cycle-Digital-Timer/6944845010043/
. Is that overkill, because in the theoretical situation I'm pondering a leak somewhere simply cannot happen, to many consequences?

all the best to you and the CO crew, man I miss 'it' :ying::ying:

great to hear from you my friend! glad things were not as bad as they could have been..youll be off that in no time...we gotta catch up asap, try to get to 50 posts so i can pm you. lots has changed, i dont live in colorado anymore

1...i water 6 times a day, only while the lights are on..so once every 2 hours..never water while lights are off

2..its never an issue as the rez is topped off daily so that small amount gets diluted every day

3..yeah i have a circulatory pump that kicks on for 20 minutes before the pump starts its first feed..i only use it before the feeds start..once the feeds start, i have an anti siphon valve aiming back into the rez, that assists in aerating the water and keeping things nice and even...since the pump kicks on every 2 hours its been enough to not need more circulation..as the circulation will drive up my ph

4..never with synthetics only...only if i run nova or humic/fulvics through the line, then it does...but during the course of the flowering cycle its never created an issue..between cycles however, i flush hot water and bleach through the lines DTW and that cleans them very well...but again, thats only with non synthetics..with synthetics only i can go 5 runs without it smelling at all...i also run a enzyme/water conditioner with every feeding and that helps keep things very sterilized...not to mention i run un filtered tap water, less than 12 hours after it comes out of the tap..so it still has chlorine and what not in it..this also helps..imo chlorine in the water is a good thing in hydro, not sure why people let it evaporate before using it

5..so far ive never had an issue with the solenoid or any leaks or malfunctions...normally zone solenoids are to run the drippers right off the tap using the taps pressure with no rez or pump...while mine is designed to only top off my reservoir...and my pump feeds the drippers..this , imo, gives you a much needed buffer room to monitor your rez and prevents runaway solenoids far better...it also allows you to add things to the rez you dont want running through the doser...my reservoir has a 100 psi floatvalve in it hooked to the doser line..this will prevent flooding in the case the solenoid malfunctions..its just a fail safe but so far i haven't needed it...things are working as flawless as can be for pennies on the dollar..i haven't mixed nutes or phd water in 9 months...all i do is transplant and harvest

hope that helps bro. wish you the best and keep your head up..get your posts up and send me a pm, lots going on ,we need to catch up. i got you when you get off paper :ying:

Welcome back DJM.

Wanted to ask you a few questions on your topping and defoliating techniques. When do you def and top? How much and how often? Where on the plant do you top/def? What things do you base your decisions on when you do top/def? If you can take time out from your busy schedule to answer these ?'s it would be highly appreciated.

Thank you.

Hey DJM quick question. How exactly do you make your concentrated nute solution for your doser? cant quite wrap my head around it. If im not mistaken you said your ph perfect as well coming straight out of the doser... how exactly is this accomplished?

Thanks

don, good to see your still around... thanks for the tips, especially the mixer pump. I like the 2 hour prime, smart man. Thanks for introducing me to bodhi as well, would have never ran his stuff if it wasn't for this thread. My latest crops have been the best ever..

Fuck CO, I left that place a while back and don't wanna go back, nor CA,WA,OR,or AZ. I'm back east for good and don't plan on leaving anytime soon....

Careful of what you PM on here guys, just a heads up ;)

I've started to use the new cyco coco, it contains chunks of coco mixed in. Plants seems to love it so far.
