Every time I water til runoff my plants get droopy! Plus my coco stays wet for a week in 1 gal pots. Maybe its the coco I'm using? It's the biobizz coco mix and its pretty fine, not chunky. Maybe I should start watering with runoff once every 1-2 weeks? :dunno:

this is a bit off topic but here are the pics i dug up from the grow i did back in '05 the 10lb plant(no co2) in a 9x9ft room during veg.
i run agricultural organics bloom range throughout with any decent quality nutrient. the nutritech have a huge range of products, mainly marketed at fruit growers i think. not that popular here for hydro.
back on topic the first week of veg i would definetly recommend running no waste, from what i have seen and read it makes the young roots spread out and search for the water. typically i feed about 3-4 secs twice per day which equals about 150-200mls water per feed for the first week of veg.
i gotta say though i have never run straight coco, always mixed with perlite. It would be very interesting to see a side by side comparison with the coco plants fed once per day and the coco/perlite plants fed multiple times.

DEAR GOD!!!!!!!!!!

that is awesome. always cool too see non-conventional grows and grow methods

I recently solved my coco problems by having true runoff as opposed to sitting in saucers like I would do with dirt.I have had successful runs w/ coco before , but not optimal.I have had the red petioles lighter green than I liked slight droop, etc.First time I flushed like 5 erkles with a huge amount of water , these never recovered. The unflushed ones did better.I looked for answers lots of people had similar problems ,and all of the solutions/diagnosis were not working for me.I got r.o. , changed nute may times, and brands of coco, cal mag, everything I could think of.Still so-so results.Decided canna coco and nutes, can't go wrong.Still same problems.I emailed canna , and they recommended 200-300 ppms of calmag with the r.o. They said to water when the plant has consumed 50% of the water, and that you can over water undeveloped plants in coco.Still probs , then they said to flush with 1-2 gal 600ppm nutes and feed right away at 800ppm with true runoff that drains away.I did this and the next day was a huge improvement , all my problems solved.Best plants ever!I'm running 1/2 gph pressure compensating drippers dtw stadium syle.Loving it :)
