I've had good luck eliminating russet mites with Amazing Dr. Zyme (active ingredient is citric acid), followed up with predatory mites.

:tiphat:That shit looks nice my friend, but then all your buds look nice. Beautiful growing man you are a perfectionist in my book.

Thanks Tang. It good to hear from you again. It been too long. :huggg:

On my good days, Im a perfectionist, which isn't as often as Id like, but Im glad I didn't ruin this nice lady. I worried that she might not come out looking too good in her last set of pics before harvest. I probably should have taken her down a week earlier and the plant would have looked even better for pics.

Sadly yield was less than an ounce, so I really dont even have any spare, to Cob up right now.. Its been awhile since Ive gotten to make any cobs. I miss them cobs!

Beautiful as always DC. Lately my trimmings get pressed into rosin after two or three days drying. I can usually keep medicated with that until the bud is cured.

Thanks ReikoX. Who could say no to that pretty lady? :)

Id love to press some trim, or thai buds into rosin. I tried it once with the low tech method of hair straightener but it was frustrating and I couldn't get it to produce anything worthwhile.

I wish I knew someone with professional equipment that could make rosin. It must be alot easier to find someone like that in a med/rec state or at least Id like to imagine it is.

Can you imagine some Thai Rosin..Or Durban Rosin. I wonder if it'd be purple..A guy can only dream right???

I have problems keeping buds around long enough to cure, so thats a wise move with the Rosin. How would you compare it to other forms of extracts?

Oh man some Durban rosin would knock my socks off! Purple is a possibility especially if the bubble hash is purple!

Only time I ever got anything worth wile with a hair straightener was pressing hash. As far as oil goes, rosin is my favorite with high terpene CO2 a close second. A good melty bubble or dry sift is my favorite but I don't usually have enough product for that often.

Mr Nice Shit 004 Harvest Update

Mr Nice Shit 004 Harvest Update

Im back with another update on the Shits ya'll. I hope you brought your Toilet Paper!

This lady is my second favorite out of the group solely for her fiery orange pistils. It really stood out among her sisters. The other females, had more muted orange/brown pistils, but this lady stood out for just that simple reason.

She also has a nice mottling of green/purple calyxes to go along with the fiery orange pistils. Buds were on the small side, and not very dense, but I think on the next run with a single main cola, I should get a much better idea of what were working with. I also feel, I didn't give the plants enough time after topping before entering flower. If I want some nice long spears of buds with this lady, Ill need to have the framework in place before flowering.

Yield was poo-poo. Less than Shit 001, that was featured last time. So low I dont even want to say lol. Thankfully quantity doesn't determine quality.

Ill come back later on with a smell 'update' on her, but for now lets get some pics of her up.

How Cool is this?

How Cool is this?

Ive finally gotten a plant that is variegated. Oddly enough, it didn't do this as a seedplant, but it is now occurring now on a clone. Ive always wanted a plant like this before, so Im stoked to have it in the garden. How long it will remain like this is unknown, so I thought I should get some good pics while I can and share them with everyone.

Enjoy.

Hey Dave, I know you've mentioned in the past that you're in the SE. I hope you're ok down there and that these hurricanes haven't been giving you too much trouble!

Good Morning Dave!

I want to thank you for this marvelous thread. I've read it from beginning to end and can't begin to tell you how much I have learned from the whole thing. I'm very grateful for your detailed posts all through it.

In the not too distant *future* I will be starting my own first, true (on purpose :D), Sativa grow. I have seeds for Golden Tiger, Zamaldelica, and the Panama x Malawi from Ace. I've been a bit nervous about it as before I've most always grown Indica/Indica dom. plants.

The wealth of information you have supplied here regarding medium, nutrients, temperatures, etc., along with the amazing pictures, has really helped build my confidence toward the coming grow.

Before that grow, I have to get a medicinal Indica grow taken care of for my daughter, but then it is Mama's turn, and now I just can't wait! :D

I know you are very busy already with 'real life stuff' but one day if you wanted to do a straight tutorial thread entitled 'Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Growing Sativas to Perfection but Were Afraid to Ask' I'd be the first to subscribe!! What a boon to the community that would be!!!

Again, thank you soooo much!
Peace

I got my testers of Afropips Durban Poison Reproduction, thanks Dave!. I fell in love with the mother of these seeds a while back. When I had heard you were looking for testers for some F2s, I jumped all over that. I have been waiting on these to get to me for a while. Hope for some purple rosin next year!

Just replied to OldPink with my address, he is shipping out your testers!!

:huggg:

I just read the PM he sent me regarding the testers, and Im super stoked for everyone! Were making some progress finally hehe. I hope everyone will still be able to participate. Who knows what things are like for the testers these months later. I hope they'll still have the time and desire to grow them out if they take the seeds.

:woohoo:

Me too! Maybe we will see some of that purple rosin after all!

Oh man, id love to see a tester make some rosin with the Durbans. How cool would it really be if the rosin comes out a purple hue.

Ill settle just to see others growing them, but Ill keep wishing for the purple rosin too!

Hey Dave, I know you've mentioned in the past that you're in the SE. I hope you're ok down there and that these hurricanes haven't been giving you too much trouble!

Thanks for the concern Djimb. All is well on my front. Im in a landlocked SE state, and rarely do we get anything more than Rain from a Hurricane. The worst weather I have to worry about are these 80-90F days deep into September. My ladies will appreciate the cooler weather when it sets in, and so will I.

nice variegation, thats kinda kool dc

Thanks Boyd. Ive always wanted one, so I was super excited to finally witness it in my own garden. Oddly enough the seedplant never showed this. Mutations are cool.

Man this is really starting to progress even faster than I thought. Here I log on to a pm of oldpink saying he's about to send out seeds, and I refresh my thread, and I see people have already gotten them in their hands! Awesome news for everyone thats gotten theirs already!

I can't wait to see your thread, and your lil ones popping up in the near future. Please post a link here so we can all check it out!

You're far too kind Maven to an old cur like me :) Im glad you've taken something away from it, and taken the time too to read the posts as well.

Thats a great lineup you have yourself. Im jealous. I only have 3 Ace Tropical Mix females in flower atm. Nothing compared to the lineage of yours, but I think my Mongrels will be worthy of some nice pics later on though.

I wish you the best of luck on your next grow for your Daughter. I bet you'll do an excellent job, and then produce some outstanding Sativas afterwards. If you have any questions always feel free to ask. Im well acquainted with these long flowering Sativas.

That thread sounds like a good idea, but Ive never really considered anything like that before. Id hate to come across as a smug know-it-all if I did it, but it might be worth offending a few people for everyone's benefit.

Thats awesome news ReikoX. Im glad people are getting the seeds now, and I hope everyone has a blast with them. If I recall correctly these seeds are from 3 Original Moms. I wanted to give people a mix of offspring to enjoy, but Im pretty sure your fave mom has some seeds in there too.

Have a blast with those seeds, and definitely make some too for later!

 No mail for me yet.. Hopefully soon

I hope you get them soon. Are you going to be able to start them right away? If so, you wont be more than a week behind my latest batch of Durban P Seedlings.

Good to know I'm not the only one

Fingers crossed that they arrive soon for you. I hope you'll enjoy them, and get some fine purple ladies to show off.
I can already tell you all that if you get some Deep Purple ladies, your buds will be the talk of the town. Damn! will be often used to describe those buds. heeh.

Afropips Durban Poison Seedling Run

Afropips Durban Poison Seedling Run

With tester seeds finally arriving in peoples hands, it looks like I chose a good time to begin some of very same seeds myself. Ive been anxious to get some more Durban P in the garden, and I couldn't wait any longer. I put 20 Durban P seeds from 3 different moms, into fresh media consisting of SPM/Calcined DE(85%/15%), along with 10 Durban P x Mr. Nice Shit F1's into media too.

Im really excited about the DP x Shit seeds. I just had to start some along side the DP. Im running about a 1/3rd of what I have, so minimal amount of seeds left. If I like what I see in these testers, Ill grow out the rest I have and look for a good pairing between the Shit Moms, and DP Males afterwards.

I bet the terpene profiles will be out of this world in the DPxShit crossing. Two very fragrant varieties that I hope will produce something even more outstanding than either parent can produce alone.

The first day above ground for most of these seeds is the 19/20th of September, so just a few days ago were when these pics were taken. Just 2-3 days away for a weeks worth of time above ground for most of the seedlings.

The DP have had great germ success, with all but 1 having broken the ground by today, so 95% Germ Success. Also 15% of the plants are trifoliate at this point. Often, they end up out growing it later on, but a few of you may get some surprises in your batch of seeds.

The DPxShit have not had the same success rate, and I wonder if its because they have not been in the freezer before sowing?? In nature, they would experience such a thing during winter. Something to look into later.

Lets get a few pics up of the seedlings now.

The plants in the background are pure DP. The 10 up front are DPxShit. I use the "clear" plastic dixie cups for a few reasons. Small containers provide me more space for more plants, and I can observe root growth without needing to disturb the media in anyway. If I desire, I can also constrict plant size, and reduce lateral branching by keeping the plants in small containers for extended periods of time. Useful tactic if you are working with limited space, but it requires more frequent feedings.

Feeding for all the seedlings began on the day they broke the surface. Im currently feeding at 300 PPM using only Dyna Gro Grow, but also currently using 5grams of Osmocote/gallon of media as well. Each feeding is 30ml/1oz., which is around every 2-3 days right now. Im gonna break out Hydro Buddy later, and provide the thread with a more detailed breakdown of the nutrient profile were working with.

Ill also be providing the seedlings with Dyna Gro Protekt every week as well. Well half of the seedlings. Im curious to see if providing or not providing Protekt from the beginning will have any noticeable affects, or is it effects. I always get those two backwards. Im hoping for positive results. Ill update on that later on as we progress.

Just some Thai Donkey Dicks

Just some Thai Donkey Dicks

Well I was running low on my favorite buds to smoke on, so I decided to whip this big boy out! Its been curing for a few months now at least, and seemed like a good time to dig into it.

The end is even smooshed up a bit just to fit in there. Its easily over a foot in length that bud, and as wide as a....well you know..

Durban x Thai Lil Sister Update

Durban x Thai Lil Sister Update

I wanted to give one of my DurbanxThai ladies a lil face time since she's been hiding away for so long. It took a long time to get her to reveg. 2 months after being move back into veg, and I even provided high N feed to try and induce a reveg, but that didn't work with her. She was on her own schedule, so I left her in the corner of the tent until she finally showed signs of revegging. It took forever, but once she got into veg, she took off and produced a fine specimen of a plant without much additional feeding from me.

She's taken on a similar form as the seedplant but this time she's a lil wider in the hips..I did help the process by removing all but one reveg point as I wanted her to focus soley on that. Ive had plants that have large amounts of reveg points, and lets just say, you're better off on removing alot of them. I went for the single cola plant this time, but I could have left enough points for maybe 2-3 main colas.

She's been flowering for close to a month now. These pics were taken on 9/13. I expect around 100 days flowering, give or taken 10 more days. More pics as she progresses deeper into flowering.

EC measurements at this time are close to 5.0, but we dont see any singed tips on this lady, or abnormal leaves. Still on the higher side, and Id prefer it around 3.5-4, but right now she's on a very low feed with weekly monitoring of soil fertility levels to help keep her in her ideal range.
