They're both very nice to look at no doubt. Ill make sure to grow out lots of the seeds that are produced. Im sure there will be some nice plants showing off the best both parents have to offer.

The other night when I was pollinating TSA, I had a very nice healthy striped seed fall into my hand. Seemed odd since I hadn't pollinated this plant purposely previously. Then I recalled the Durban Poison and their intersex problems from earlier on, so the seed I have is most likely Durban Poison x Thai. My first one! Im gonna throw that in water overnight, and then bury it in some soil. Ill make sure to do some updates on it in the future so we can check it out together.

Hehe..If you've followed this thread long enough, then you already know I do some things a lil differently. I dont know how effective my method will be yet, but all the pollen on my hands ended up on the ladies, so we'll see! I didn't have the patience to try pollinating them all with a small paintbrush. I did attempt it, but alot of the pollen ended up flicking off the bristles with even a gentle brush.

I never heard of Albius until now. I did a quick google search and read up on him. I like his method. Simple and straightforward. That usually works pretty well I hear :)

I love Sativas too. I love introducing them too people too, but some people are so used to the effects of a strong indica they can't appreciate the different effects a great Sativa brings to the table. Thats if they even understand what a Sativa is...

You may try out a pure Sativa for your pain relief. Ive had lower back pain issues myself for over a decade, and I can tell you getting high on a pure Sativa can make that pain disappear. Not just for the lower back. My aching knees and sore feet feel better after enjoying some good Sativa buds. Im puffing on some Thai Stick G atm, and my aches and pains are already subsiding.

The OGx Thai cross sounds fun. You should search out some Thai beans and try and find a nice mom. You've got me thinking what Thai Hybrid Id like to make after the Thai x DP....

Maybe some Haze Hybrids x Thai..Ive got Mr. Nice Nevils Haze, SkunkHaze, Sams HazeSkunk, and Thunk all sitting in my freezer. I could even try some Thai x Mr. Nice Shit too. So many possibilities.

I e grown loads of thais. I actually didn't find sativa weed helpful for my backpain, pure indicas either so far the ogs have been doing it for me...

You can use a fan cannabis is a wind pollenator but I thought you might find it cool I share that as you used a hand pollenation technique. I felt it was relevant

I haven't grown any Mr nice seeds in a while I want the afghan haze. Wack yield but it's tight shit... dosent fit my profile of total keeper necessarily but if something yields over a Oz per plant I'll keep it and pack 16 in a 4x4 lol

Cool stuff Dave I pop in here and there.

Different folks, different strokes. Im glad you do have something that works well.

I have a small oscillating fan I use for the ladies now, and I considered using it to dust the ladies, but that'd probably end up with too many seeds in colas I didn't want heavily pollinated. I do like the fan idea for going all out.

You should grow out some of that Afghan Haze someday, but Ill warn you I had intersex issues with his Mango Haze. Hope the AfghanHaze doesn't have the same problems.

Ive got your thread pulled up. I came upon it browsing the forums awhile ago. Ill give it a browse tonight. Peace.

Durban Poison Cob!

Durban Poison Cob!

I unwrapped a nice 1oz cob yesterday after it had been in the vac-seal for 17 days. The cob turned out excellent with the sickly sweet smell and very moist to the touch. After about 32-48 hours of drying Ill vac-seal it back up for long term aging. Previously Ive let them dry out too much before re-sealing, and this time Im making sure the cobs are still moist going back into the vac-seal.

You can see a bit of the yellow film on the bottom of the bag. This is a sign you had a good sweat going. Tangs of course look like someone took a yellow crayon to the bag after his sweats. Clearly I must up my game.

The purple from the Durban buds actually bled through multiple layers of corn husk. It was pretty cool unwrapping them. Thats the first time Ive experienced that before.

Wonderful thread dave. Just sucked me into reading for the last hour. Love the thais, I'm a suckered for nice sativas. DP's are beautiful too.. I don't think I have seen durban this purple before. Maybe some pinkish pistols or slight purple tones but never straight purple. Unique indeed. Thanks again.

Oh no my friend, Ive already made 10-12 cobs by this point. Im slowly becoming more skilled at it with each attempt. I think this round will turn out quite excellent.

Ive gotten to sample lots of different cobs, some done better than others, and its hands down superior to smoking regular buds. The high comes on quicker, the effects are more pronounced, and the high lasts longer. All this occurs with me consuming less compared to buds. Simply put, you get higher for less. I sometimes will take 15-30 minutes to finish a bowl of cob because I get completely lost in the moment.

In 15-30 minutes Ive already consumed 5 bowls of regular buds...I still enjoy regular buds, but cobbing is the best.

Beware though, I wouldn't advise giving it to lite weights who only smoke a few times a year. I shared some with a cowoker on a retreat. All he did was smoke a few bowls with me as soon as we got there, but then he spent the next two hours with his head down on a table, color drained from his face, fucking-wrecked, can't remember whats going on kinda of fucked up. I felt sorry for the guy. I was high and happy, but he clearly had over-indulged.

Tang, you can look at my cobs any time you want big boy. Id let you handle them if I could..

Amen on never having enough cobs aging. Ive got a nice little batch of Durban P cobs doing their thing, but I can't wait to make some more Thai Stick cobs the correct way. My last batch of Thai Cobs didn't get a great sweat, and it showed in the final smoke. Im gonna nail it this time.

I envy you being so close to the beach. I really need a nice get away with lots of cobs someday soon. Closet beach here is Myrtle, which is garbage..

Thanks for tuning in Thejact55. Im sure there are plenty of better things you could be doing with your time, so I appreciate you spending your time here.

Were both suckers for nice Sativas. Nothing compares to them. Ive got some pics of a nice cola on TSG for you and every lover of TSG. Ill throw them up in a moment.

I was blown away by the purple in the DP too. I dont think anyone here was expecting it, but I do like it. They get super deep purple during winter when temps during lights out reaches low 60's, but during spring/summer more green is visible, but still some level of purple as well. Lights off temps are in the low 70's during this time period. Ill be glad when it gets cool again.

More of the DP to come soon I promise, but for now. Lets throw up a couple pics of Thai Stick G at Day 92.

As large as this cola is, you would think this plant would be the one exhibiting the most N deficiency symptoms, but nooooo its the very last one to show any signs of N def. Other plants have lost dozens and dozens of leaves, but this plant has only shed 3-5 leaves total at this point. Rather shocking, but Im glad she's doing so well.

If you think thats big, you'll be shocked to know she's not even gotten to the stage where she really bulks up...EEK! 3 months down, 2-2.5 months to go.

Hi Dave you had me crying over the description of your co worker, crying from laughter and then crying with envy when i scrolled down the page and saw that great fat Thai bud.
You are really bitten by the cobs now, I can tell, just now you will hit an absolute stonker as your cobs age. Then you will be set for life. Dangerous knowledge in your hands with those genetics, I need another holiday just to get over this moment.

Im trying to get too fucking high too after a long day of work. Soon Ill have to go take care of my ladies, but I can relax and get high for just a moment.

I was laughing at my coworker too, but I actually felt a lil bad too. He had no clue what was about to hit him, but neither did I. Even recorded him during some points while he was wiped out, and he watched the video and didn't remember anything he saw in the video. Blackout strong. It was still funny as shit. Best part was, it wasn't even a well sweated cob..One of my Thai Stick Cobs that was under-sweated. :yoinks: I had considered using some of the cob to make a tincture to share with others, Im glad I didn't unleash something like that on them too.

If you think the Thai Stick G is looking great now, just wait another 2 months and those buds may be HUGE at the end. Looking at past photos of my previous run, the buds easily doubled in size during the last 70 days of flowering. Just how big could this bud get??????

Will I just make one giant cob out of the whole cola?!?! Stay tuned to find out!

You had me laughing again, you videod the poor bastard as well! Remind me not to smoke with you ha ha.
That Thai sweated properly will be devastating after a good aging, make sure you make a big fat cob it might last you the rest of your life.
I reckon that cola has a long way to go yet, it might need its own post code.

Well technically, I didn't do the video'ing, but Its not like I stopped it hehe. He hasn't shown much inclination to smoke with me since then.

I can't wait to have a gorgeous well sweated cob to rock my world in 6 months or so. The Thai have taught me patience, so the wait will be over before I know it. I can't wait to share some of that cob!

Definitely going for some fatter cobs next time. I want a cob with a nice fat waist on her for me to grip. I may even make some smaller thai sticks utilizing the cob method. It is GN Thai Stick I am growing. After browsing google images of thai stick for awhile, alot of the thai sticks look just like Malawi Cobs, without a proper sweat though. I think I can do better.

Awww you really know how to sweet talk a girl. j/k Im a man, but Im glad to know you're enjoying the show. It helps keep me motivated to do updates. The sharing of pics will be put on a slight hiatus for now though as I broke my camera. The Tripod fell over for one too many times, and the camera's lens got jarred/offset and I was lucky to even get it to turn on so I could transfer over the few 3 month update photos I managed to get before breaking my camera.

But thats great news because now I have an excuse to splurge on a nice camera w/ a macro lens. Got to do some research and find something good. I hope to get some really nice up close shots then.

Day 98 Update Sort of..

Day 98 Update Sort of..

Well gang, I smoked a bunch of Thai Stick A Sunday night and got amped and focused to take care of my ladies, clean em up, and start snapping pics. I managed to accomplish all of that except the last part..well sort of. I got 3 pics in before my tripod fell over, and the camera lens broke. Who'd think something with 3 legs would fall over so easily?? Maybe I smoked too much of my 31 week Thai Stick A and was careless..The world may never know..

Its certainly an excuse to splurge on a new camera and MACRO LENS Ive been wanting for so long. That's gonna take the photo updates to the next level. Im stoked for that!

Now lets give a quick update on the ladies. Keeping them well-fed still is a trouble for 3 of them, while TSA wants the least amount of food, and is slightly over-fed, but she's also in the corner with the least amount of light, with her bigger sister TSG crowding her space. TSA is the type of lady who needs the whole space to herself to shine. Such a diva..

Im still monitoring media PPM every other day, and typically feeding 32oz of feed at 700-800ppm at the same time to all but TSA. Reservoir set at upwards of 350-400 ppm isn't enough to keep TSG and TSE fed at optimal levels, its too much for TSA, and just about right for TSF, at this stage of flowering. It feels like Im in a Goldilocks scenario. I considered using two separate reservoirs/lines this run, wish I had, but I think I really need 3 to keep them all happy. Finicky comes to mind when I describe these ladies. Still worth the fuss though.

I think at least two girls of this bunch should be ready in about 2 months. Ill re-evaluate at that point. They still look pretty green and healthy now, but I have lost loads of leaves. Thankfully these Thai come loaded with tons of leaves to sacrifice themselves up for the good of the buds! No defoliation here, I need every last leaf I can get. Its best to let the plant completely suck everything of value out of those leaves until they're a shriveled husk. Then pluck them from the plant. I had to remove quite a few to get these ladies up to snuff for the photos.

Got stinky and sticky in the process, but I loved it!

I think Ive made you all suffer long enough now with all these words. Lets get to the pictures already..

Geez fucking old timer with all these words typed out Im just gonna skip to the pictures. Ill show him..

Here they are at Day 34.

Group Shot at Day 98. All 4 are in the first photo, with E(left) and F(right) up front that dominate the photo, with TSA rear left, TSG rear right.

Very nice & sexy bitches there. I love the anticipation I feel when I have some fire sativa near to harvest. It's a good feeling & well worth the wait...for anyone who does not have the patience to grow a long sativa. They are very much worth it, believe me.

Thanks for the love Sandman. Just wait till you see the next round of photos(still no camera yet). I could try my cellphone camera but its garbage, but I may try it out anyways. They've really progressed quite a bit in the last few weeks even though N deficiency continues, but they have so many fan leaves its hard to tell from the pics. You'll love em no matter how yellow they get though.

Were at 119 days for them, and I plan on a 150 day harvest if they look ready, and theyre getting there slowly...

For anyone attempting a long flowering sativa, or getting near harvest for the first time..follow this simple rule of thumb..If you think she needs another week, she needs a month. Im not shitting you either. You may be able to get by with a early harvest with Indicas or faster flowering hybrids, but so much can be left off the table if you harvest these amazing sativas early.

Hodge Podge of Updates

Hodge Podge of Updates

Its been 3 weeks since Ive made any kinda of update, so Ive got plenty of news to share.

Lets start with the Durban Poison x Thai Stick seeds I set in motion awhile back. After waiting a few weeks, and not seeing much development in terms of seed production, I decided to move DP-C into the flowering room. He's my favorite male, and the only one not to show intersex problems during flowering, but he's only been flowered out once.

He's been in there at least ten days now, and already at the beginning stages of dropping pollen, but in another week or two he should be covered in pollen, or hopefully my ladies will to. Ive got him set up in front of my fan thats oscillating, so hopefully all the ladies will get pollinated soon. Ill have to pollinate my huge main cola on TSG, but its worth it. Still gonna be some big buds either way.

If successful, it'll push my harvest date back further as the seeds mature. 170-180 days I hope..Whats another month when you've already waited 5?

On the note of pollination, I had to remove TSE from the flowering room, as she developed quite a lot of nanners on her upper colas. It was rather shocking as Ive flowered her out multiple times but never saw a nanner till now. I wont be making any Durban Thai HighFlyer seeds with her aside from the ones that may develop from the DP-C pollination attempt a month ago. Ive moved her into the flowering tent to finish her off away from her sisters, so she doesn't ruin my seed attempt.

She's been in there for 2 weeks now, but not showing any major signs of continued nanners. Maybe it was just an episode, but she's gonna remain in there for another month then come down. She's already got some pretty heavy buds. I came home from work, and a big branch full of buds had snapped off and was barely hanging on. I tied her back up tightly, and added more bamboo support to try and keep her from snapping again. She's a droopy girl with those big buds of hers. I wish I could show you, but soon we'll get more pics. The branch is gonna pull through as its been a few days and no signs of deterioration Its amazing how strong and tough these plants are.

Back to DP-C male, Ive also got DP-D flowering in there as well at a nice stage to receive pollen. She's been in there for about 4 weeks now, and coming along real nicely. I can't wait to make babies with that sexy lady. I also moved DP-E in there a few days ago too(both these plants are revegged ones). I hope to make some seeds with DP-E too, but gonna be awhile before she is ready. The other two durban ladies I have left aren't ready for flowering yet. Ill have to collect some pollen for later use on those girls.

Oh and one last thing to throw in. I pulled out some of my Mr. Nice Shit x Sam's HazeSkunk seeds to do another run with them. Im looking for a real nice lady that exhibits the best bud structure both plants can offer. They're around 3 weeks old and Ive moved them into the flowering tent just a few days ago. Most should be ready to harvest by Day 120 if things go well. Ive got 14 of the seedlings to start off with. I hope I win the lottery and get 10+ ladies..Fingers crossed.

Ill be looking for a lady like the one pictured below which I nicknamed Goofy Bud thanks to the side profile reminding me of Goofy. I had two ladies like that out of 13 ladies the very first time I ran them. I may get 1 like that, maybe 2 this time if Im lucky.

My most memorable pics of her.
