Now, I understand why I dont enjoy doing smoke reports. I feel like Im writing a report, just like its homework, and Ive always hated doing reports. Not because I do poorly at them, but because I spend way too much time writing, and rewriting, tweaking sentences till Im happy with the results. What would take an hour for most people turns into 4+ hour ordeals...

Thank you Thai Stick G for being there to help me during my time of need.

DP- D, F, & M ended up all being very similar in smells, tastes, and effects/high, so Ive decided to do all three as one smoke report. This makes my life easier, and you guys at least get a much deserved smoke report.

Lets start off with some pics of those three before I dive deeper into detail on these ladies.

Our final lady of the night, Durban Poison - M @ Day 69 Harvest Day

picture.php

Sadly, I have no pics of the finished buds. I ended up consuming all of them before taking any pics. My bad.

Now that we've reminded everyone what they used to look like, lets get onto the meat of the smoke report.

The buds used were cured for 1-1.5 months before sampling, and only 1 gram was smoked using the same glass pipe pictured in the thread, but perfectly cleaned before use(A dixie jar full of Zep Heavy Duty Citric Degreaser works AMAZING when the pipe is soaked over night). Then the buds were ground up in my grinder before loading the pristinely clean bowl and ultimately enjoyed in many slow savoring puffs. The last bowl of each lady consumed was topped off with the grinder hash generated from its grinding.

Those were always my favorite bowls. I love the rush of those hits.

Smell & Taste:

This is where I struggle the greatest when it comes to writing smoke reports. There are times where I simply can not describe the smell to someone because its completely new and unique to me. Sometimes the terpenes are very similar to something else I have smelled before, such as the Thai smelling very strongly of Pine. The 31 week flowering TSA tastes and smells like Im smoking a pile of Pine needles.

The Durban Poison profile is harder to pin down. No single terp really stands out to me. One minute the buds smell sweet like hard candies and fruity/berry, described as passionfruit by a close friend, but also times when rotten cheese is used to describe the same buds. The terp profile reminds me alot of Mr. Nice Shit, with two very opposite ends of the spectrum. Sweet & Fruity on one side, with Rotten/Musky on the other, and a whole lot of in between all mingled up. I prefer the more complex terp profile the DP provide me over the Thai. The Thai are predominantly Pine, Pinesol, Pine Needles, with little else I can identify.

No anise smell in these 3 though. I even went out and bought some star anise to prepare my nose for what I was looking for. I didn't find it in these three ladies, but I detected notes of Anise in my longest flowering lady. Doing a cob with her buds in the future may bring that smell out more, at least I hope so.

Taste: They taste like they smell, and that is yummy. I wont go into much detail on taste because the smell descriptions pretty much cover that, and Id like to get this Report up sometime before this year is over..

Effects of the high:

So, you want to know how the herb affected my mental state and body? Well Im here to provide you some insight into what I felt after smoking these three ladies. I sampled two of the ladies around noon on my days off, and one was after working a 12 hour shift on my poor aching feet all day.

Each of these lovely ladies provided me with highs capable of relaxing both the mind and the body together in harmony. Any anxiety or stress I had was replaced by feelings of calm and contentedness. All the problems of the outside world were outside of my realm of perception. I was completely at ease, which is a pretty nice feeling and maybe even rare in today's hectic lives. I felt like Peter Gibbons in Office Space after the therapist hypnotizes him. Nothing could upset my wonderful mood after sampling those ladies.

The body was just as affected as the mind as well. My aches and pains subsided greatly, providing much-needed relief to my sore knees, and feet, while making my body feel young and new again all-over. I could bound up the stairs again without feeling like I have lead weights around my ankles and an intense burning fire inside my knees. These buds provide quite the relief for anyone suffering from arthritic pain, IME.

The length of the high lasted around 1.5-2 hours, which is longer than what I was previously smoking on(Mr. Nice Shit). Im glad to have something different to enjoy now. Right now Im enjoying some Thai and Durban Poison ground up together. Its a very quick way to get high fast and I do hope long. Man thats good stuff. Im struggling to work my way through just .5 grams of that atm...

The come down was always clean and clear with no after-effects other than wanting to toke up again haha!

Yield:

These ladies produced around 1.5 oz each. Im not a commercial grower, so I dont place much emphasis on yield. As long as I have enough for myself and a lil for close friends, Ill be happy with what they produce, but there is room for improvement. The Clone of DP-D should easily surpass her mom in yield. She's a gorgeous looking lady that will be shown off soon.

Final Thoughts:

I can't really give you my final thoughts on ladies Ive only gotten to run once. I intend to go more in dept on final thoughts when I get to run each lady 3x, but for now, the upcoming smiley should express how I feel about these ladies and this line.

Waiting for the stop sign to turn green?

....You must be able to look into the future. I had smoked some Thai stick G tonight, and I stopped at this particular stop sign, much as Ive done a million times before. But this time, I was staring off in the distance at a red light waiting for it to turn green, so I could proceed. Then I realized, the light was green, not red and I could actually go. Then I realized, I was sitting at a stop sign like an idiot waiting for a red light to tell him when he could proceed.

I give this Thai line two thumbs up so far.

Dave, here is a smoke report I did some time ago:

https://www.icmag.com/ic/showpost.php?p=6856731&postcount=95

Ace Zamaldelica first release, pineapple pheno.

I admire your work and patience, am going to cob cure my
next harvest of Sam's thunk after reading Tangwena’s tutorial
and your experience here in this thread.

Thanks for the smoke report link, I checked it out. It was helpful, I even stuffed a bit more information into the report after reading yours.

Im glad you're enjoying the thread, and followed me over here from the seedling thread :). There will be lots more of my plants to share in the future. I hope they make you drool like they do me..literally..hehe

Definitely do the cob method. It is definitely worth it. I put it off and missed opportunities to do it with prior plants, and I wish Id done it sooner. Its well worth it. I love em just for the small amount of space a cob takes up compared to uncompressed buds in addition to all the other benefits. Its a real kick for tokers. Dont deprive yourself of the opportunity.

Ive got some of Sam's HazeSkunk F2 I just took down. Been hanging for a few days now. She's a prime candidate for cobbing too. Gonna enjoy that. She's a beautiful deep shade of purple too with the most exotic intense terp profile of anything in my garden rivaling even the DP. I never saw purple in the F1's. I need to dig into more of those seeds someday soon and see what other hidden treats there are. Please do share your cob attempts with the THunk. Ive got some of those seeds in my freezer waiting to be called from the bench someday.

Care to share your thoughts about your Thunk experiences here? Im a real fan of his Haze hybrids, even though I have to deal with intersex issues with them.

Durban Poison D(Clone) Update

Durban Poison D(Clone) Update

Durban Poison D is the first Durban plant ready for round 2! She would have been ready sooner, but I neglected her in the .75gallon container for far too long. She became chlorotic and stunted, but once I transplanted her into a 3 gallon container with Osmocote @ 5grams/gallon, and began feeding at every watering GH 3 Part Flora series(450-490ppm) she really took off and hasn't slowed down since.

She's now been in the flower room for 6 or 7 days so far and looking strong and healthy. She has really filled out compared to last time with a gorgeous squat bushy appearance with tons of tops to fill out later on. I didn't have to do any training on her. I simply kept her in a restrictive container size, and she developed like this all on her own from there out.

But first a refresher before we get to the new pics of her though..

Now at Day 6 of Flower.

picture.php

Thats a 3x3 foot frame she is sitting in the middle of. She's got a healthy wing span, and it may be a good idea to pull those lower branches towards the frame with some lst'ing, so I can get more light into the inner canopy.

I took my first soil solution reading last night and EC was at 4.5, PPM was over my Bluelabs ability to read it. I was a bit worried once I saw ppm was over, but after looking over the plants and seeing how healthy they are, Im okay with it for now. Once were 3-4 weeks in though, EC Levels will begin to drop rapidly if I dont keep the res level high enough. Currently it sits at 200ppm to help supply just enough nutrients for the Thai, without over-doing it on DP-D early in flower. Its a delicate balance. I really need to get in gear and set up that second reservoir for the thai and one for the DP.

GN Thai Stick G Bud Shot Day 112

GN Thai Stick G Bud Shot Day 112

This lady hasn't been seen for a few weeks, so I wanted to throw up a couple pics of her nicely developing buds. The fattest of anything in my garden and incredibly sticky. I definitely need to cross this one with my favorite DP male and grow out some offspring. I bet the buds would be massive and reek to high heaven.

I am stoked to try the cob method, that is true. It will be a while as
I only recently flipped some thunk.

Although I may do it with some wide leaf bud I just chopped.

But that thunk is something special. I have been growing cuts from
the freebie from when I got it in 2009. She and some Sensi Star
were my first commercial seed purchase.

I since lost the Sensi Star to user error, but that thunk survives
as a mum from cuttings and has been revenged twice, selfed for
some interesting S1, and I will keep her as long as I possibly can.

The selfed seeds popped mostly cat piss phenos, lol

She flowers on average 120 days in my micro box lit with PL-L floros.
Grown a few weeks in veg first. Cuttings root every time, I root cuttings
in pH’d water. This thunk has the sweet skunk scent in veg, needs
filtering control. I grow in coco with a modified flora micro and bloom ratio.
She originally was popped in an organic mix in 2009.

I ditched living soil for salts until I can grow in larger scale under big lights.

This is an exceptional plant with stunning aromas and flavors. In flower the
fresh peppercorn scent is unmistakable, comes on in mid flower and carries
through into taste too. Cured buds are a righteous blend of that crushed
black pepper with caramel, leather and spice incense, if you visit an antique
shop and breathe deep, you’ll know what I mean. But the taste is what I get
the most comments about, smooth creamy pepper hash. The high is haze
straight up, lasts couple hours.

Sharp, creeper high with a social aspect. No freak outs. Fade is gradual with
no sudden stops.

I usually keep the dried buds in flip top mason jars for a couple months cure
before I roll one. Up to a year in jars and the character maintains.

I must admit if it weren’t for this thunk I would not be as inclined to grow my own.

Everything is better with this cannabis, it’s that good, and I’ve been toking since 1978, lol

Hey Dave,

You made a great choice on picking up some seeds. They are well worth having in your stash. I hope you find some plants that produce amazing fox tails like my TSA. I need to throw up a few shots of the clones foxtails. Some of them will blow your mind when you see em. Oddly enough TSA has the largest calyx size of all her sisters, while TSG with the large chunky buds, has some of the smallest calyx size. Funny how things turn out.

Definitely some variability in bud structures among the ladies(3 so far), but they all produce some pretty nice foxtails. You wont have to go through many seeds to find what you're looking for. Please feel free to share them here when you begin the seeds. Id love to see how others do with these wonderful plants.

Love the smoke report Dave, sounds like some amazing flowers. Definitely a sight for sore eyes, that's for sure

Thanks a bunch Sour D. Im really happy with these ladies. Much better than the Mr. Nice Shit I had been stuck with for months, not that I dont have some love for Shit, but it just isn't in the same league. The highs come on fast and quick with both the Thai and Durban, but the Thai comes in waves and hangs around for awhile. I need to do a smoke report soon on TSA that I took at 31 Weeks. Its what Im smoking on now, and Its gooooood..

I promise there will be plenty of more sexy buds in the future to drool over.

Its probably for the best that you you'll have time and chances to harvest other plants before trying it on the Thunk. I wouldn't expect to nail it on the first, 2nd or 3rd try, so the more practice the better, but if you can even better. I think my second try will end up being better than my first, but I think I took a step back on the third as it didn't have the sweet sickly smell when I opened up the vacuum bag on it recently. It'll take me some time to dial it in.

Tang, how many tries did it take, before you felt you had it?

The dreaded cat piss smell. I found that as well in Sams HazeSkunk(Grown that one yet?) More so in the finished product than during flower, but it was definitely there. Also saw it in some F2's, but I was spared that fate with my latest F2 I took to harvest. Gonna cob that baby up tomorrow afternoon.

Thanks for sharing all the details on your Thunk. Definitely many similarities to HazeSkunk especially in the terpene department. Ive got two freebie bags of them in my freezer. I need to do a grow of both together sometime, and see how similar or not they are. Although they're two sides of the same coin. I bet the highs are similar, although the HazeSkunk has geeked some people out, freaked others out, and made one chick bawl for 2 hours straight(lol lightweight). Sometimes the highs can be very introspective and depressing, but not always thankfully!

Why ditch the salts when you go larger? More lighting will increase nutrient demands, and quickly lead to nutrient deficiencies if underfed. I find it much easier to optimally feed my plants with salt based nutrients, as well as treat deficiencies much faster during shorter windows of time(flowering), than relying on organics and having less control.

Better yet, grab yourself some osmocote and try that out. Its the lazy gardeners crutch to feeding, but also a boon to the diligent gardener.

Thanks again for sharing your thoughts on Thunk. Ive always enjoyed reading others reports on it, which prompted me to get some of Sams Haze Hybrids after reading all the glowing reports. Quality stuff.

Damn, that D. haha stellar looking. nice job

Trig

Thanks Triggle. Plenty more nice looking ladies and buds in the pipeline for this thread. Stay tuned for more!

Damn this TSA is strong. I ground up a bunch of it to smoke and enjoy, and Im struggling to make it through my second bowl since I began this post. Its the type of stuff you hit once, and forget to hit the pipe again for 15 minutes. Its thats good and Im doubtful Ill be able to smoke all I ground up. Thats not often I say that.

GN TSG Harvest Follow-Up

GN TSG Harvest Follow-Up

I was looking through my camera, and spotted some pics of TSG I had snapped. She hung dry for about 6 days before half of her was put into two cobs. She was pretty easy to trim as most smaller leaves had already fallen off due to a long term N deficiency. Thats one way of making trimming easier for me I suppose.

Hope you all like them. About half of them ended up in two different cobs, and the rest in mason jars for old fashioned curing so I can do some comparing.

hi Dave a bit raggety that cob, but should still work just fine. Make sure it starts sweating (feels wet) before vac sealing. If you have to you can put it in a plastic bag in a warm place for 24hrs to start it sweating. Then vac seal it for a week or two and bobs your uncle.
Dry it out and compare to the dried and jarred after a month or three and you should be able to taste and feel the difference,
I will be interested to hear your smoke test.
Good luck Tangwena
