thanks for the info, doc... gypsy's out of "holland's hoop", unfortunately... as well as hindu kush... so i think i'll pick up either the afghani for my pashto fix... good to get acquainted with the basics before venturing too far off into obscurity don't you think?

how do your girls smell? is citral a very spicey, hashy smelling plant? could you compare the smell to the other common strains from the region? or does everything nirvana makes smell more or less like the skunk they crossed it with?

good luck sir

Nirvana's skunk crosses are each unique,,, don't get m wrong. I accidently topped the chitral trying to be clever with a yoyo (u lives n learns). thus far under glass the smell isn't noticable...

will ost updat pic on the morrow :D

...Did an experiment last year with a very skunky plant next to a window...and it had almost no smell until chop, unlike its twin sisters under hps. Don't know if that's what u meant by "under glass" but anyways...Great informative thread folks. I've wanted to use cactus soil on the indys for awhile now, but it is sold in such small bags, used it for germ in small cups once...it worked very well, no concern with damping off in that stuff. Perhaps just 1/3 perlite added to the schultz brand would work well and prevent too much caking, 1/2 to stretch it out a bit, if u don't mind watering every 1-2 days.

Hi aeric

yes "underglass" means on the window or in conservatory / glasshouse / greenhouse :D

cacti soil is something I must look into,,, thanks for the positive info.

N.B. This is a good thread, because Raco and Zam and everyone else really knows their stuff when it comes to landrace genetics from the Hindu Kush, respect one and all :joint:

x3 musketeers

x3 musketeers

the x3 musketeers :

The 'Chitral' (bottom left) was topped by mistake so will be one of those two-headed jobs.We think it is male,,, only time will tell with this one...

The 'Outsider' (HQS) really is an outdoor strain, the main stem is nice and thick and even with poor light levels she is tight and compact... I say she cause she will be female (you get a 6th sense for this sort of thing after a while,,, but we've been wrong)...

Mossad... Growdoc strain,,, always expect the unexpected... strange almost mutated leaf structure, webbed in places,,, also topped, so far looks like other Mossad we've seen... got a close eye on this one

Update:

3 musketeers where growing too jungly (wild) so we had to pull them back into line...

Cheers Zam

we just learning on these strains,,, nothing serious,,, yield still isn't the game :D

I n I find the best way to test the vigor in genetics is to place them into some soil and let nature do its own thing. normally start off with 1-2 seed from a packet,,, if they pass the 'Growdoc Method' (sown onto damp soil) they get moved onto the next stage. At this point plants are either: a)placed outdoor, b) force-flowered, or c) force-flowered outdoor. Waiting 3-4 months to find out the piece of shit your working with is male, below par, or just average,,, isn't for me. Neither are 10pkts that contain x2 viable seed, doesn't matter who the breeder be, these seeds get opened up, crushed and thrown away... hehe

At present, since we don't often have to struggle for smoke,,, force-flowering allows for a greater number of genetics to be tested over a shorter period of time, (whilst keeping overall numbers low). Anything that stands out gets held back in collection,, or perhaps dusted with rogue pollen  whence we get the genetics we're after,,, we put up a hps, break open the viable packets and have some fun :joint:

*the above, is the result, of getting stuck in the rut of JackHerer for too long... lol

the 3 m's (7-14days 12/12)

the 'Outsider' (right) is clearly overgrowing the 'Chitral'. Mossad (left) holds her own space.

hog the pot

hog the pot

hi Zam  :joint:

Chitral runs across the back-left, waxy thin 5's with jagged edges :D

Outsider has the fat thick 7's and star shaped 5's at front (the plant hogging the pot)

Mossad is throwing sturdy yet mangled 3's, 4's and 5's (as expected) :canabis:

It gets a bit confusing sometimes,,, have to find the coloured marker at the base of the stem and follow each plant to it's end :biglaugh:
