Ok guys...your'e not gonna believe this but...there will be no Puna Budder and Jam. Why you ask? The answer is oh so simple :wink:
The screw up is due to two reasons....the first is my notoriously crummy abilites at picking out a plant as male or female from preflowers not fully developed. The second, to my credit, is that the Puna Budder is so weird and her preflowers looked so much like the most virile of BALLS that even the most skilled preflower guesser would have gone wrong with this one
This morning the balls still looked like balls, but with pistils shooting out of them! I will post pics later to make it clear that I am not as stupid as one may think, and that the Puna's preflowers could easily have been taken for male.
I now have the grow FULL...will have to do some major rearranging and pruning, but refuse to remove any of the females, even though I could spare a Mango if needed. I've never killed a plant willingly and I'll be damned if I'm gonna start with a female for pete's sake
....so.....Bluevelvet will be doing the first and only start to finish documented grow of Puna Budder found on the various forums to date. If anyone knows of another start to finish grow thread on this one, let me know. I did a search and have yet to see it.

I'm back again to justify my wrong diagnosis of gender and to give y'all a peek so you can make me feel better about my mistake
First off the Moose in all of her female glory, after three full days outside of the grow, next to a window, she didn't even stretch too terribly:
Now tell me the truth guys...wouldn't you be a bit more than suspicious that this plant is male? This is just one of the nodes, but there's so much goin' on at all the nodes that she looks like she's filling up with balls. Seems they're just more and many tiny leaves forming at the nodes :wink:

Seems that one of the mutations of this strange plant is the development of extra preflower calyxes instead of two per node, which rather than spear shaped are round. I just kept seeing multiple balls popping up until this morning when I took a look at the mutha through the jewelers' loup and saw the pistils Sure glad I was planning to keep the plant to collect pollen, today he was scheduled for a trim of all the alternate branches, but I'm curious by nature and often examine my plants, male or female that they may be, with the loup. Never know what you might find :wink:
I think I have light infiltration in the grow after having made my intake passive, I rigged up a ghetto filter over the holes, but am going to have to vamp it a bit...my plants are taking too long to go into active flower and I'm not sure if this is attributed to the last shot of nitrogen they recieved 10 days ago or light infiltration issues

I had the exact same thing just happen to me... as I set aside a sweet G13 x Orange Widow for pollen... looked just like that too, little semi sacks on each side of the high nodes. After a few days of waiting for pollen sacks to start spitting out, I took a close look AGAIN and indeed.... lady she was ~

Zep, thanks for the support, its nice to hear that even a breeder can still get preflowers mixed up....its the plant's fault damnit! They don't make preflowers like they used to

The LUI is weird, it was the second plant to show sex, calyxes spitting out pistils after 3 days. Don't know what's up with her...she's not stretching anymore, while my other plants are, but she has no deficencies at all. If it weren't for the preflowers you'd say she was still in veg from the looks of her She's also ugly...but hey, as long as she smokes nice....

Thanks for stopping by rule. Actually the Puna Budder is quite lovely now, grew out of her ugliness, while the LUI used to be pretty and is becoming quite ugly Don't really matter as long as she's good to smoke, after all there must be a reason why LUI is so sought after :wink:

Time for a small update :wink:
Today is Day 17 of flower, the Puna Budder was repotted (I didn't do ituntil now 'cause the bitch was trying to disguise herself as male :winkand trained yesterday and is flowering at an incredibly fast rate, small buds forming and pistils spitting out all over, I'll take a few pics when I have a little more time.
The Mangos are just beginning to form premature flowertops, no crazy pistil spitting like the Moose, they are very slow. I've resigned myself to not having them done before I leave for A'Dam, but I sure hope those mangos pick up the pace further along. Same with the LUI, slow slow slow...I'm almost positive they had enough nitrogen stocked up to have slowed down the start of flower, the stems are still very green, as are the leaves, though two of the plants are just beginning to show veins of purple on the stalks. I don't seem to have any light leaks so that must be it. Not one leaf has yellowed and fallen off yet ....and there are LOTS of leaves on those Mangos. I did some radical pruning 'cause those muthas are bushy as hell and the leaves were shading many budsites.

Haven't been by in awhile, damn I was liking the PunaButter&Jam concept. Yea those preflowers would have had me guessing also. I hope you all enjoy the cup. I also hope that all of you guys take and post what pics you can and still be security concious, would be fun to see all the activities since I can't go. Hey I could start a Mo's goes to the cup fund ... Probably would never work tho ... LOL
