I'm new to cats.

I'm wandering around the house at 6:30 AM with an LED flashlight,
getting down on me knees to look under furniture,

saying, "Where's that little kitty ? Here little kitty !"

Sure sign, The Cat has Won.

Occasionally I see a streak as it races down the long hallway, then disappears into a hiding place.

I set up a trap indoors, in the bathroom. Afraid my place will smell like cat piss, not the Cannabis version.

My new ones were like that for a few days. I talked to them nicely the whole time. I didn't try to corner them or trap them. Eventually they trusted me enough to let me feed them cat treats out of my hand.

Once they ate out of my hand, they stopped being afraid of me. Now they can't get enough of me. Some cats just take time getting used to a new environment with a new person.

Domestic cats evolved from smaller wild cats and probably associated with people because of the waste we produce. Waste attracts vermin, vermin attract cats. Cats became tolerant of people so they lived where people were because of the food source we generated. People became tolerant of cats because of their vermin control.

I think it was also because of the development of agriculture. For the first time in human history, people started farming the land and growing large amounts of food to be stored. Stored grain is a magnet for mice and rats. Cats don't want the stored grain; they want the mice and rats. It was natural that people would appreciate them for their usefulness in the struggle for survival.

A small percentage of wild cats had the personality trait where they were less fearful of humans and more trusting. They had the tendency to love and devote themselves to someone who would treat them well and give them a better life. Their offspring inherited those personality traits and stayed loyal to people. It was one of the earliest examples of artificial selection in the development of a new species.

Domestic dogs came into being in a similar way. The small percentage of wild dogs that didn't fear people led to a whole new species that's intimately tied to human life. The original "usefulness" of dogs was more for helping with the hunt instead of protecting grain from the harvest.

The little cat seems to have staked out one hiding place in particular, a front coat closet.

So I started filling it up with new bedding, loose blankets, etc.

Thought I'd fill it up about 6 feet high so she can crawl & climb all she wants.

^^Back when I had a cat, he went "missing" so many times only to be found sleeping in the most ridiculous places :biglaugh:

no joke there! mine have been found under the kitchen cabinets curled up in pots & pans, in open sock drawers, in suitcases in my closet, up om shelves so high you wouldn't think they could jump to them, LOL! my oldest one likes to catch me napping in my recliner & stretch out flat on my chest...:)

It would be great if the small cat could learn to snuggle with the fertile chicken eggs.

She's exactly the right temperature and my approach of slowly increasing the light bulb wattage, in a small metal file box, is not giving me hatch-able eggs.

(But it is a great way to heat buds slightly if you want them to crumble easier !)

How much extra do you feed a Pregnant Pussy-cat ?

My 2/3 wild 1/3 tame feral cat is in her 3rd trimester, or has just recently given birth.

One of the cat rescue people said she would be in heat about the middle of January. Cats are supposed to take 64 to 67 days.

Based on behavior, I think she's real busy somewhere. I wonder if she got pregnant right before New Year's.

Normally if I put out a fresh can of her favorite Whitefish out (she doesn't like 9 Lives tuna), it will be gone in an hour.

For about a week she was only coming out at night, so the food would just sit there.

Now she's back to the daylight routine, as if she's finished with some task, and has more time to watch her feed bowl.

So she is eating a morning can of 9 Lives Whitefish, an afternoon can of Whitefish, and then most of the kibble + people food I put out, which she seems to eat at night.

The people food is stuff like -
bread soaked in frying pan grease after cooking burger or chicken
broccoli w/ mayo
fried potato slices
corn kernels

And to try and make an impression on her, to get her to pick a birthing spot near my house, I was putting out Chicken Quarters.

So she would get all that other food and a whole chicken quarter.

Now we just have to wait for the pitter patter of tiny Cannabis kitten feet. :woohoo:

Last week I gave some clones to a bud. They were sitting on the table while we were having coffee and talking. One of our cats jumped up on the table, checked out my bud and proceeded over to start chomping on the leaves. This cat loves pot. When we vape, she always comes over and gives me the eyes half closed look and hangs with us.

a Cat that accepts Cannabis.

Sometimes cats really are smarter than human beings.

I dare say that cat is smarter than some of Trump's appointees.

About 10 seconds after this picture, my cat pounced on the fox's head..
Neither wanted to fight, my cat was just defending his territory...
the fox backed down and slowly left...
