Canadian Gorilla vs. Mother Nature

Well an update, but no pics yet. Good and bad news. The good news is it's been raining for a solid 24 hrs. almost non stop. Not crazy rain but a steady drizzle. If I listen carefully I swear I can hear the ground go " SLURP". It has been a crazy hot and dry summer with only a couple days of real rainfall. This will be a nice treat for the girls and the ground can absorb some water for a change.
The bad news is I should have harvested the autos last week like I was planning. I was sick and decided against the long hike. Really wish I would have toughed it out. Well we will see if they have mold after this rain.
The temps have been on the chilly side at night and the daylight hrs. are dropping fast now. I am praying that most of the strains are in serious flower on next visit.
Hope everyone is having a great end to this years season.
Peace GG

Update time:
Mother nature is starting to bear her teeth.

I thought it might be slug damage on my last visit. Someone on here said rodents. I now think is is a small fuzzy rabbit with some massive choppers. I have been lucky all season. One plant got stepped on by a deer and very little insect damage. But probably 1 or 2 rabbits are now wreaking havoc eating the lower branches and worse stripping the bark off my babies. a few plants have been attacked. The Shaman that had a lot of yellow leaves last visit payed the price with the rabbits girdling around the stem causing death.
Of course it had to be the biggest Shaman about 6.5 ft with multiple tops.

Only 3 strains out of 6 have any chance to finish properly.

One Shaman is furthest along.

Bangi haze has not started to flower yet. But looks like it is handling the lower temps at night well.

More pics:

Serious 6 is another strain that has a chance to finish if we get some warm weather this fall. The biggest one is over 9 ft - 2.7 Meters but appears to be behind some of the smaller ones with flowering.

Pinewarp may also finish. Looks like it will have a nice yield if the killer rabbits and weather co-operate.

killer rabbits...lol....

What little assholes!

Survivors look good.....that pink pistil Serious 6 looks very pretty...

You did a great job buddy....guerrilla growing Is never an easy or fail safe method....

I've lost beautiful babies after months of back breaking....literally arm breaking effort to sudden weather events...mild pests and even worse rip offs.....so kudos to you for sticking it out....posting updates...

You're a OD Cannabis SOLDIER!

Respects to all you tough...resilient OD growers...hats off to you guys!

Thanks GG for sharing

Stay smokey my friend!

Thanks for the update! Garden is looking good besides the big shamen going down. If I were you I'd get some repellents going ASAP! Poor rabbit must have been hungry. Too bad that Bangi haze isn't flowering. Throw a blanket over the thing! Love those pink pistils on the Serious 6. Hope some warm weather comes your way to ripen things up a bit. Do what you can to make them happy. Mine seemed to respond to working the top half inch of soil to bring some air in. Then you can mound the excess soil around the stems! :smoke:

Still at large...
Looking good GG, sux about the damage the rodents caused..... I have my GG4 chewed on by something small...... mole, mouse, tree rat????
Had to been small where I've wrapped the plots with chicken wire about 2 to 3ft high...... something's bound to come around especially after I top dress with amendments.

I'm a little bit south from ya and my none Indica Dom strains are late to the party as well, hazes are mid way, but cookies and diesels are lagging hopefully the frost stays at bay this year..... some of my favorites but most vulnerable to our climate.

Liking that serious 6, heard some good thing about it OD...
What the lineage on that? The purples are nice.

I think it is slugs

I think it is slugs

Hi GG, I think it is slugs that attacked your plant. It looks a lot like what I've seen in the swamp in the past. I use Scott's EcoSense slug bait and that seems to work as a preventative. I also use Lee Valley copper mesh.

http://www.leevalley.com/en/gifts/page.aspx?p=51241&cat=4,104,53208&ap=1

Unfortunately I haven't found a way to revive the plant once they damage the stalks like that but throwing down some slug bait now will prevent any further damage. I had a few problems with slugs last year but the worst was 2009 when two totes were completely wiped out. Here are some photos from that year:

Thanks for stopping in guys.

hicksticky the lineage from serious seeds site." Serious 6 was created by mixing genetics from Canada with Sativa-landraces from Africa." Clear as mud right?

two heads- I thought slugs as well. But there is damage were the lower branches and fan leaves have been eaten off. Also if I look close it's almost like they bite at the bottom pull a strip then eat to the top. I guess copper mesh might help for both slugs and rodents. Or I was thinking for next year some sort of tree wrap. Has anyone ever used this on there plants?
Cheers GG

Gorilla messed me when you want to try growing the original Dutch Passion Durban Poison. I have some that are fully acclimatized to Canada. And stellar breeders.

Hi vince, ya it has a few preflowers, I would say it was just starting to flower on last visit. But without some serious global warming I would say it doesn't have much chance. There is a frost warning tonight and it's been raining all day. I'm sure the plant's will survive a mild frost or 2 but in 8 weeks there will be snow 4 sure.
Thanks for stopping in
Peace GG

I saw on the weather network that were supposed to have a above average temps this fall hopefully the temps stay above 10 degrees at night for a few more weeks.....i hope for your sake the frost passes you by and you get a chance to harvest some plants...Best of luck man...Most of us canadian growers all kinda grind our teeth this time of year when it comes to unpredictable weather patterns

You think it could of been a ground hog that munched those stalks?? I've seen groundhogs render big healthy outdoor plants to mere nubs

Hey bud...for gorilla grown plants in the north those look excellent. Good luck on the end of the season. Really too bad to hear about the burban not finishing on time. I have a BCBD Jack Herer a few years ago do the same...she was 24feet around the perimeter and 6 feet high. Listed as finished on Oct 15 I cut her down on sept the 20th with almost no preflower.
