SORRY I HAVE TO BREAK THIS UP INTO MORE THAN ONE POST AS MY COMPUTER IS RUNNING BILL GATES SOFTWARE.
BOG, i have been intrigued by your positive outlook and the time you take to give kind words on most growers threads, and i just had to know more about you. so i checked for your other posts, and came across this one. at first i wanted to post right away, and the be able to get some awesome seeds in a few months, but something stopped me. i didnt want to be some random asshole on the internet taking advantage of someone who does so much for the hobby and lifestyle i love. im glad i didnt dishonor myself by lying to you, and im glad i can feel confident sharing this honestly. all you want is to help me live to enjoy the earth and all that is in it.

im 24 and i have been smoking off and on since i was 13 or 14. and im just sick of the taste, smell, and money wasted for nothing memorable. as ive dwelled on this thread for about a month, the idea of continuing this infective addiction seems ridiculous. and as of june 1st, 2005 i will no longer be a smoker. i hope to be self sufficient and in constant supply of mj, cause i quit that way once, and it worked so well, and a toke of the good herb is so much more rewarding than the chemicals Big Tobacco calls cigarettes.
im grateful for your support, before during and hopefully, after :p

may your next life bring you more happiness and contentment than you knew possible.

Well well. I've been chewing on these nicotine gums all day and they're really keepin' the irritability at bay. One day past without ciggies, rest of my life to go. Would like to smoke a good bowl o' bud though...if i had any.

Feelin' a bit light headed and sleepy, it's weird...

no patch for me, just good ol MJ. I knew my dugout and bat would come in handy one day. Thank you BOG for making me question my loyalty to these things.

smoking fags is for imitation monkeys. Real monkeys say no to nicotine. Not a bad habit if you want to be able to resurface highways with youg lung gunge.

I smoked cigarettes for 23 years. Finally gave up 14 months or so ago.

Two things :

1) You really do want to have to give up for your own reasons. Doing it for other people or because you think you should doesn't work;

2) Don't expect that craving to disappear anytime soon - I still get the urge for a cigarette maybe twice a week. Physical dependency has long since gone but I don't think the mental one ever does.

I don't agree with stopping the things that trigger you to smoke - like having a beer - you just need to get used to not smoking. Some people find that cutting down works for them. It never did for me as it was way too easy to just take one......

Nicotene patches worked for me but you need to be damn sure that you really do want to quit because you don't want to be smoking when you're wearing a high-strength patch. I've seen people fail to quit and increase their habit by doing this :frown:

Oh and I didn't do it for my health (after 23 years of smoking 30 a day the damage is done). I did it because I was tired of always having to make sure I had cigarettes everywhere I went and everything I did

It really isn't that bad with patches, especially if you can find someone else who's quitting at the same time - I quit at the same time as a guy I know online but will probably never meet.

Edit - oh and think of the money you have to spend on other things if all else fails :biglaugh:

what an inspiring story.
im 18 and after 3 years of smoking i have started to quit. one of the first hings i bought when i turned 18 was the patches.
you see, it was relativly easy to get people to buy me smokes while i was underage, but getting people to help me quit was very hard. so when i turned 18 i decided it was time to quit. and i have. im on the large size patches. but they last me some time. after using the patches i feel good enough to quit, and i have.

great thread BOG.

Vaporizer fanatic Goldenbud, lost in smoke, cough cough...

Vaporizer fanatic Goldenbud, lost in smoke, cough cough...

So Volcano fanatic me goes up to a cottage in beautiful Northern Ontario for a weeks holiday of partying with a few friends.

I rarely drink anymore (diabetic), and quit smoking cigarettes in April and haven't smoked many joints or bud at all since I've had vaporizers for almost a year now > Vapor/Doc, and VaporGenie and then my Volcano. I was doing a perfect job of being a NO SMOKE advocate... until I arrived at the cottage for a week of partying.... dammit.

First came the multiple bags of Volcano Vapor hits, then the ACDC tunes on the stereo where cranked....out comes the Crown Royal.... then the joints, bowls, ETC ETC... and I'm sad to say the cigarettes too.

We had a hell of a lot of fun and 7 days later here I am back home again - a survivor, but sadly a smoker again.

Just goes to show you how fast things can change. I blame it on the booze, lost my self control and went into full party mode. What sucks is I'm back from holidays now and I smoked half a pack of cig's today (and smoked a few joints).

So tomorrow I'm back to no smoking again and back to my tasty Volcano - wish me luck.

I'm pretty pissed off at myself but what can you do. One thing I can say for sure, I can feel the heaviness back in my chest and I don't enjoy the high from bud as much when I smoke cigarettes, I don't know why, I think like many people after you smoke a joint you reach for a cig right away - to much raunchy shit in the system at once I guess.

I do like smoking a joint - moreso the ritual of sitting around with friends passing around a joint I suppose but it seems 'cooler' or more relaxing to sit down and enjoy a joint as opposed to a bag.

I wish there was a way of vaporizing that was similar to smoking.

But from here on if I get the urge to smoke something, I'm just going to have a little homemade bubble or kif in a bowl > that's harm reduction in itself compared to smoking a joint of bud.

Gotta go! / Peace / Vape On

I don't understand it... I quit for 2 months NO problem, then as mentioned above I fell of the wagon when I went to the cottage with my buddies... but now, I'm having a hell of a hard time quitting. ESPECIALLY when people (customers from my business) piss me off... then the first thing I want to do is reach for a cigarette.

I'm sure disappointed with myself, I went and bought a pack of cig's this morning again, and am smoking as I type here. For fuck sakes.

Anyway, no use in giving up, I'm going to stop smoking starting tomorrow morning again ... I'll post my results.

Best Regards!

wow its been a month already...well almost. the first week was pretty hard but after that wasn't too bad. the only time i really get the itch for a cig is if i'm with any friends who smoke. but so far so good, my lungs really have been feeling nice lately. loving there weed only smoke diet

again BOG thank you so much for the inspiration to quit.

I'm an X smoker also. Being a musician playing in bars on the weekends has been kinda tough- but not that bad, I just go outside and get some fresh air, drink a glass of ice water and forget about it. Then I take a few deep clear breaths. I've quit 3 other times before btw. This time should stick. I am breathing ALOT better... and sleeping better. 3 months off of the tobacco this week.

I do not want to be carrying around an oxygen tank with those freaking pipes going up nose when I'm in my 60's God willing

Peace,
Xsmoker
