Building an IC69 Heat Exchanger

I run a 110-140 F water bath (food grade runs) with an expansion column and a valve to isolate the column from the collection chamber during the end of recovery. The last pound or two of solvent is the hardest to get back as the solution's boiling point increases so I leave it in there when I swap columns. I'm recovering about 19 pounds of solvent in 45 minutes flat with one TR21. 3/8 swagelok hoses all around.

Is a 1/2 SS welded tubing good to make a chiller?

How many times have you asked a question that is clearly answered multiple times in the thread already?

Guys start reporting these kind of people to the mods. Not someone who asks a lazy question but the guy who does it over and over. We have some planted trolls around here attempting to create trouble.

seriously, learn how to freaking read lol.

NO ONE ANSWER HIS QUESTIONS ANY MORE!!!!

Unless he goes back and reads some stuff and actually has a legit question that hasn't been asked and answered at least 5x. Then by all means, help a brother out, but this is just ridiculous.... If only it was like reddit and we could just downvote him so much his messages would never show.

In all seriousness I think someone should take the time to educate him on hydrocarbons. it seems he doesnt know how it works, if it will "blow you up using too big/small of lines". or how flow works, cold and warm.. He just doesnt get it, and thats a safety hazard to him and all around him. he obviously is adement on learning it, and hes probably (i hope not) operating a system as we speak.. If he has to brain power to understand a lesson on the ways of the tane he might not blow up himself, a friend, or a dear ole pup. I mean, in the past year weve seen a few lazy asses that took a lashing for their stupid questions and turned themselves around to do the dew. But this one is a bit special, seeing as the repeat Q and consequential A have not sunk in at all. Maybe this one does need a bit of hand held time for safety/ignorance reasons.

Non welded typically has a higher rating, but both are typically rated over 2000 psi, so either is suitable.

I've had problems with these coils on ebay with welded fittings, have had 2 with porous welds. Got a local supplier to make some up and they're going to be brazed for exactly this reason.
Anyone else have this issue? Curious how many are using compression fittings?

Im using SS compression fittings with temps around -10F with 0 issues. Those ebay coils never looked that great to me.

We use compression fittings on both the stainless coils we wind ourself using stainless tubing from Paramount, as will as the 50' Jockey box coils from NY Brew. Both have worked flawlessly.

Nothing fits the metric counterflow heat exchanger I found on line and I am having some made to weld on.

Hehehehe your talking about me! You already dug up one of my old noob threads. There's a few more out there but hopefully they won't come back as its extremely.embarassing. it's so frustrating too, once you think you got it, whoop! No you dont.

Just keep reading. Stop trying to get ahead of yourself you should be reading atleast 100 words for everyone 1 word you post.

Sunfire after a short rocky start you have become really great member. You have provided lots of thought and research - thank you. You took some offense that was not intended but directed things is a really positive direction.

I wish people who get the "please read the thread" response would slow down and not think people are trying to be jerks. People just want the threads to remain helpful and not get trashed with useless jabber. Directing to a thread for the complete answer instead of repeating information in an individual short form is better help anyway.

There also appears to be some new accounts that are here to only make trouble for people or products in which they are in competition. These accounts are only trying to create bad comments about certain systems. Let's not allow this type of "gorilla" marketing to control threads or opinions. Demand proof or evidence before allowing them to derail good threads. Don't allow them to ask repeated questions that are covered in detail in the thread. This kills threads.

This forum educates people. It is open to all ideas but sticks to science and facts. Some vendors would prefer to keep the waters murky and want to make this forum as irrelevant as the other sites with forums. Consumers have few places with serious discussions to learn about these systems. Let's keep this forum helpful and not allow it to be trashed.

The people who spend effort here are doing it to help everyone. Those calling others names for helping do not understand how to best use this resource or are purposely abusing it.

We wrap our coils around a suitable sized mandrel, ranging from high pressure gas bottles, to stainless pots.

Thanks again GW

Ya'll welcome and that reminds me that I keep forgetting to post the results of our counter flow heat exchanger at the butane injector, using N2 as the coolant.

We were able to clean a $1500 Apex counter flow exchanger donated to the cause by Permaculture, by pumping solvent through it, and we ran it on Joe's WolfWurx Mk IVB with great success.

We likes it a lot with N2 vapor from liquid on the cold side!! Thank you Permaculture!!

I have metric fitting ordered to fit the counterflow exchanger I found on e-bay for $199, and will follow up with it once we receive the fittings from Swageloc.
