Broad Mites?

Bugs probably gone

Bugs probably gone

Actually you know what, I had a few smaller plants closer to the floor and they are all fine.
So I think that would point more towards high heat causing this damage.
the other plants that were closer to heater were also more impacted.
Thermometer was about a foot or less under canopy height, maybe it was just that much hotter a foot up

On a positive note Bugs probably gone..sorry to see that man hope you set it dialed in.

What up everyone??

After dealing with these fuckers I realize I have no choice but poisons or buy a big ass heater, I'm opting for a heater. I'm playing it safe in the global sense and not adding more toxic shit into the environment

Anyone know how to calculate BTU requirements to raise the temp by 20-25 degrees in a 12x20 room with 9.5' ceilings & poor insulation? With all lights turned on and the AC off, it's only getting up to like 95 degrees

Can I use one of those construction propane type heaters or is the carbon monoxides gonna be a problem? It's in my basement garage. Would CO be heavier than air and thus remain downstairs leaving the living spaces safe and carbon monoxide free, or would it be carried up by the convection current of the hot air rising?

THANKS!!!

Propane not recommended. Didn't check thread for a few days so just seeing this now. Carbon monoxide not good. This has already been covered earlier in the tread, but thread has gotten long and you probably missed it. Room lights & electric space heaters. Do not spray anything on plants before heat treatment. This is important. Also mentioned earlier. Sorry if you're getting this information late. Heat alone @ proper temperature for an hour or so will not damage plants. It's best to test using one thing at a time, to eliminate the variables.
When you add other things to the mix (CO2, sprays), it tends to complicate matters.

Yea man I must have missed that! Fuck.
Have you heard of this bouncing back or are they pretty much toast?
I'm ready to just start from scratch anyway, it's demoralizing dealing wit these fucked up plants
Thanks dude.

Hey there, been away from the thread for a while, thought I'd come in with an update.

Last run, BM identified, heat treatment got me through along with beneficial microbes. I had 3 strains, 2 made it out fine, 1 was a dud, not surprised, it was the strain worst infested. At least it was the strain I had the least amount of plants in.

While that was happening, I went crazy on my moms. Trimmed them down, sprayed with Avid, then dunked a week later in Forbid. Took clones. After they were rooted, dunked them as well. Cleaned EVERYTHING. I ran the babies out a bit longer than usual, went 6 weeks instead of 4 with lots of scoping and checking to make sure we were in the clear.

Now those clones at the end of week 2 flower. 3 days into 12/12 I hit with the heat treatment as a precautionary. Asprin 1x a week in the res as well. I am in a sealed environment with Mini-splits. Concrete floors, R-tech walls & ceiling. Washed everything between runs, I mean disassembled and washed EVERYTHING.

I also treated my yard, everything. Just to try and keep populations down.

My ladies look absolutely LOVELY...This is the first flower I've gone through in over a year without phantom Mag def's, without the sad looking leaves that resemble N toxicity. The flowers are all fuzzy and look like PomPoms! The sugar leaves are nice, flat and straight!

Retro, you are my hero, :tiphat: you have saved me, my genetics, my sanity! I will continue to do preventative treatment, not fooling around with these borg any longer!

:thank you::thank you::thank you::thank you:

thanks for that.

just out of curious, what makes you guys think that CO is phytotoxic anyway? i've never heard anything to that effect before, and neither have i been able to find a shred of credible evidence to support this claim.

how long do swirskii mite satchets take to be effective? I just applied 4 satchets to each plant afew days ago and have been noticing bm damage is slowly getting worse, I just sprayed avid 4 weeks ago so their not out of control or anything yet....

It depends on how severe the infestation is, if its really bad you should be releasing a large number of bottled swirskiis... The sachets on their own may work, four is a good number, I never done it that way so I can't say for sure. After a week you should know if its working, healthy new growth will start pushing through!

I don't think it is. As for what happened to me, I think the heat was just much too high. Other smaller plants closer to the ground were not impacted at all by high CO/CO2 for over an hour. Whereas taller ones had the tips shriveled and dessicated.

I've got a question for anyone. I have been using "coated aspirin " for a long time they seem to work. I have looked for non-coated aspirin everywhere whats the secret...? I put the coated nsaid aspirin in bowl of warm water and they dissolve in a matter of seconds. I think using coated aspirin is ok...?

Regular asprin yes

Regular asprin yes

jsut about every grocery store carries regular aspirin.
I may be a little dense but, if you look at the label close of the "regular aspirin" it will say in tiny letters "coated"...I have looked everywhere including asking pharmacists at rite aid and wallgreens and all the regular grocery store large and small. I don't think they make regular "Non-coated " aspirin at least around this part of southern California. Cause I've looked extensively. All the people on the boards say use "non-coated aspirin" I think aspirin is asparin NSIAD (not Tylenol) of course unless there is something special about the old timey chalky aspirin we all remember as kids. Pharmacists tell me they don't make it non-coated anymore. It dissolves in seconds in a bowl of warm water so I don't think it has to be "non-coated"

Green Guy,

You said your humidity was at 45%? That seems low to me for the heat treatment. When I have done treatment the humidity in my tents in about 70%. I just tried doing a scale downed heat treatment in a small closet with a hair dryer, and although I got the temps up to 120, the humidity was only 30%. In less than five minutes the plants went limp and did not perk back up.

Also all,
I had complained of not being able to heat my room up hot enough because the space heaters kept turning themselves off. So I went to craigslist and bought a couple magnetic ballast with hoods for $40 a piece and put in some old bulbs. Cheap and effective source of heat.

SOD,

I found non coated asprin in walmart here in SoCal. They have about 30 different coated versions and only one non coated. Took me a minute to find it.

Thanx ...of course it's the only place (wall mart) I did not look ...Will check it out .I don't understand why coated aspirin would not work as long as they dissolve...? Thanx again.

Salcylic acid, active ingredient in aspirin, counters the effect of the broad mite toxins, occurs naturally in willow trees as far as I know. I have never fed aspirin myself!
