While I remember, RudeDog asked (quite a while ago) about my Sensi Afghani #1s....
So far.....0/3 on the germination. Seeds split, but no tap root emerges. 7 to go. We shall see.
I find it ironic that the two most expensive packs of seeds I have ever bought (Sensi Afghani #1 and Soma Free Tibet) are the ones where all/most of the seeds are duds. I got 1/10 on the Free Tibet.
got to love the perpetual blimey i love having weed all the tim its better than bigger less often harvests ive grown more strains last year than i have all my growing life. you shit looks real nice man i bet that lil plant is killer its always the way with the small ones
the way i have found is to get say 3 plants at a time 1, 9 weeks flower 1, 10 weeks and 1, 11 weeks put them in. then 4 weeks later add another 3 doing the same. i always go by my finish times and stagger them. if you need more bud then do 2 of each. or if you wanna harvest every 2 weeks just leave a week inbetween each strain. like one week put the 9 weeker in then wait a week put the 10 in and so on, have a calender and look at your finish dates and add the apropriate strain depending on the gaps, i am always working 9 weeks ahead because thats the shortest flowering strain i have. sorry if im telling you shit you know thats how i do it anyway
Nice shot of the Blue Chunk. Definately looks to be a BB-leaner. She is titchy, isn't she? My Blueberry is the same....6 heads of nowt...... I've binned the clones.
So with so much space you must have a big germination session planned? I love the feeling of uncertain expectation that goes with lots of seed popping. Whats on the agenda after The War is consigned to the books? Speaking of which, seen any of those little shits lately?
bigwity....no worries....I am always fascinated reading how my ic buddies grow. I just stick a seed in the towels every two days, strain pretty much at random.....my own tendancy to picky picky (I'm trying to stop that), and things like runs of males and beans that don't pop tend to muck up any schedule I may have planned.
daoboxer....yeah, she's a little munchkin.....definitely BB-leaning.....I'm finding the Deep Chunk to be more dominant in some traits than others. The Chunky Cheese gal (who is not at all chunky lol) is much the same, but more due to spazzing out (prob due to overwatering) than the Borg.
I saw one a couple of days ago.....on the chunky cheese, as I was checking it for sex. I've seen the odd bit of spotting on he younger plants, but everything gets sprayed a couple of times a week, so I'm not sure how many are about.....not enough to stress over.
The veg cab is full to the brim...... here's a snap from 5 minutes ago:
12 plants means they are overhanging the edge...no door, just a sheet of black plastic painted white (which also serves as the back wall of the cab - it was one of the windscreen covers you use to stop your leather seats heating up in the sun).
I have a rule that each new plant of a strain gets more veg time than the last one....in the next day or two, a couple of those plants will be thrown into flower.
I have one seed in the towels at the moment, but I won't pop any more until something gets promoted to flower.
So we have 5 girls in flower at the moment, plus another 5 unsexed in flower....some of those 5 unsexed are still to be up-potted. The tent maxes out at about 12 plants in pots bigger than 2 Litres plus another handful of plants in less than 2 Litres. Ideally, no girls should get flowered in a small pot, but it does happen.
Got a DC, NL x MexiSat, and a GP25 all at 6 nodes, so might get another girl or two in the next couple of days. You'll know what's what, as I'll update my signature.
The show never stops, and only slows down for reasons mentioned above.
I totally agree on the anticipation thing.....while I have the ultimate respect and admiration for the guys here banging out rooms of (beautiful) clones, a big part of the obsession of growing for me is the fact that I don't know how most plants are going to turn out.
PS: the answer to yr question on the last page is finance. I wrote a long answer, then erased it, for some stupid reason I can't recall right now. No sleep and no weed will play strange tricks on the mind lol.
Yes mate.....times is 'aard. This is true also for the vast majority of people I hang with. I am spending cash on weed at the mo, and it definately hurts (I should be cropping around about the same time as you. Beautiful). I admire your stubbornness in not scoring and smoking the males, man. That'll force you into getting your growspace and methods dialed in for deffo.
Looks like 2 more males for me from the ChemxSours..... just hope the other 2 are female. I'll be so fucked off if I get 5/5 males. Will post shots up tomorrow.
Yeah...times are awful......and I'm in a "prosperous" part of the country....I can only imagine how things will be soon in the NE, where nearly all the employment was just artificially stimulated by Tony & Gordon creating public sector work. Once the ConDems get rid of those...its gonna be a bloodbath.
Whereas my local hydroshop recently moved to a warehouse-sized place, as they are doing so much business! Growing is the only growth industry around nowadays.....and only the banks pay less tax lol
Next time I'm flush, I'll be getting a few bags of compost, perlite & coco......got the worms working on my recycled soil, but really need to set up two bins like that to properly reap the benefits. That's why you might see the odd bit of leek or cabbage poking out of pots lol.
Sending you positive vibes for the dogs.....I would be so pissed off to get all boys......but every day they don't show increases the likelihood of girlies!
Yeah, its all good. If I only get 2 girls from this lot, I'll be happy in the knowledge that the 4 in the fridge owe me big. I might run 'em in Box2 with a couple of Strawberry Diesel F2s.
I use a very similar earth mix. Coco & worm shit equal parts, pearlite half a part. Then I bung in some bat shit and some fish, blood and bone. Do you feed? I've got some Iguana Juice Bloom, but haven't used it. It FUCKING stinks. Evil, like raw sewage. I'm sure it'll work great, and will use it if I need to, but none have looked hungry so far. I may give some guano and/or worm cast tea a shot at some point, instead......
I keep meaning to ask you about the GPs..... whats the deal? What does the GP stand for?
GP24 sounds like some ultra high grade American Government Lab weed or some kind of weapon!
GP stands for "GenePool". The number is simply sequential based on all the strains/cultivars in my collection, according to the spreadsheet I track everything on.
All the GPs are crosses made from "unfinished projects".....the idea being that as I go down the F2s, F3s etc, if I see some problems due to bottlenecking, or too much lack of vigour, I can breed something that is related, but with fresh genes in order to counteract those problems.
As time has passed, sometimes I want to save a particularly fine plants genetics, but don't have a suitable sibling or backcross plant, so I use a male from a different strain, and make a batch of GP seeds.
The example that didn't happen: I'm running low on (Spoetnik x DC F1) beans.....so when I got that really nice looking Flo male, my plan was to use him to hit the S/DC....but that's a line I want to take further down (rather than a "finished product"), so the beans would be GP48 (entry 47 on my spreadsheet is Blue Chunk x Deep Chunk F1, the beans of which are still being made)....later on, I could use the GP48 beans to bolster any projects using Spoetnik, DC or Flo.
It is all unnecessarily complicated, but that's the way my warped mind works, and I have had some really nice specimens emerge from the various GenePools.
Edit: Do I feed? Yep.....but not organic. I use Phostrogen 14-10-27 (plus micros) fertilizer (at low doses), plus PK13/14 later on, plus black treacle (near enough molasses), regen-a-root, and a pond blanketweed enzyme product called "Cloverleaf Blanket Answer" (£17 for enough to treat 10,000 litres).
looking good blimey. interesting to see the blue chunk, very DC dominant as usual. the BB mother is the stretchiest plant i grow, and to date the most precious mum i own. lovely high. with the pure Bb the blueberry muffin smell tends to come through when some of the other terpenes have calmed down - when it's cured or been sitting in an open bag for an hour or so.
i look forward to one day taking some of there Dc crosses to f2 where i can select for less DC dominance - thats where its at with DC crosses from all i read and hear
nice to see all the seedlings, and i think you are going in the right direction with most strains to veg a little more for your bigger setup. always hard to judge what you will get, but i like to start at least 4 seeds of any strain at a time - as this gives just a 1 in 8 chance of not getting a girl (assuming 50/50). also the 4 or more seedlings can be lumped together for watering and care rather than having to think of them all as 'individuals' for their early life. so you are recycling soil too? i need to get into that, but i also like having a completely 'standardised' soil too, im pretty anal about my soil being exactly the same every time (apart from tweeking the guano amounts to strain) i find this makes working with new and different genetics all the time easier. takes away a possible variable.
anyway im rambling.
cheers
VG
so how long from putting in the paper towel, to putting it in the flower room.
the problem i found with perpetual bean growing was i had to many gaps in crop times due to seeds not germing and males, noow if i wanna germ beans i just add them alongside my normal reigieme
VG! - Well, ideally I'd like to follow your soil mix example, but financial constraints have forced me to recycle.....my ultimate aim would be to simply turn the tent into one big bed...MrFista has been a big inspiration in that regard.
I have three huge compost bins in the back garden, from where I have an unlimited supply of worms....but I'm slightly leary of using large amounts of the compost, as I really don't need all the little hitchhikers....and the compost is so dense, I suspect it's silage rather than compo.
Ramble away, bro. I certainly do lol. The GP projects are partly one way that I compensate for running a random selection of 31 different seed strains, and still trying to take my homemade crosses down an IBL line whilst doing 1:1 matings.
Bigwity....on average....about 3 - 4 weeks at the moment....couple of days to crack open...from seed crack to 1st 3-bladed-leaf is about two weeks +/- a couple, then a few days veg. The "big" GP24 was 28 days from seed going in the towel to going into the flower room. It then took 7 days to show sex.
It's a balancing act between giving things as much veg as poss, and not leaving too long a gap between things going in flower. If I leave a week, and it turns out male, I could get a two week gap between girls....which happens on occasion.
If and when I get some clone action running, things will become much simpler, schedule-wise.....it will happen one day. I am still at the mercy of males and non-germs.
Got 4 plants who need to make that life-and-death decision in the next few days...back left is DC, back right is NL x Mexican Sat, front left is GP25 (weird leaf shape courtesy of DJ Short via Blue Mystic), front right is a Lemon Thai x DC.....the runt at the back far left is the girl chunky cheese
Plus a couple of horrible HPS pics:
Spoetnik x DC:
