It is fair to blame Russia, but we have to take the blame too. I saw Hungary and East Germany when they were still red. Both were completely stripped so all the money could be spent on the Cold War game. Russia was hell bent on getting the upper hand and still is. Hungary and East Germany (now Germany) now have better education systems that the US.
China, We could have a serious problem when they want us to pay up and have the might to demand it. When the reset comes, maybe Americans will be hungry enough work at a price that's competitive. If our education system was up to speed as it was during our greatness then we could once again produce the goods that the world wanted and elevate the job skills we have to offer. Betsy DeVos did a number on education, taking us in the wrong direction again while dipshit was going on expensive golf vacations.

I don’t think centrally planed economies (communist) have ever provided adequately for the masses....not even in the good peaceful years. At least not from what I heard from people that lived through it...
The basic problem seems to be the greed factor in the human nature. It seems that no matter how much people have, they always want more. Add to that, the scam factor, if they think they can get away with a scam then they will give it a try.
The checks and balances are completely necessary for these reasons. When someone screws with these safety levers, like having the Attourney General thwart investigations because they were "scams" or disqualifying thousands of votes because they were "rigged'. A person attempting to trash our democracy like this needs to be stopped until the matter is cleared up and his motives made clear.

China gets more fighter airplane for $100 million than the US gets for $330 million.
Not sure about Russian aerospace manufacturing. Though it takes a deliberate effort to fuck up worse than the US.
One project I worked on involved moisture condensing inside the F22 radio. e.g. if they had cooling on but not the radar which provided heating.
I found some dielectric grease from the auto parts store. 100% proven with a 30 year usage history for DC to 10 MHz in the auto industry.
F22 management took a carrot and stick approach. They told me if I did a test set-up to test the $7 dielectric grease in our lab, I would be fired.
But that if I wrote the proposal for the $5 million re-design they were pushing, I would be first in line for the Program Manager position.
I asked them to put me on a real project with a real problem that needed to be fixed.
As far as Biden - since he was VP from 2008 to 2016, he had oversight on big military programs like F22.
I expect more of the same. Also that Biden will push through the funding for the new helicopter that has an airplane prop on its back end.

Have you ever worked on a F-16? Still the best dog fighter in my opinion (excluding the new missiles on aircraft as real dogfighting is dead unfortunately).
F-16s are old and no match for a twin engine. It's all about drones now and fighter pilots are becoming obsolete.

Probably. The reason they wanted the $5 Million solution is, they knew I had worked on radar stuff in the 1980's, and they wanted me to give one of the RF units a Bentley-Rolls Royce make-over.
To be clear, Northrop Grumman wanted me to do a high voltage power supply type make-over for an antenna unit that had no high voltage, and they simply didn't like me solving the problem with a material change.
They kind of divide up the programs, so I know one of the power supplies I worked on as "M694". It was a BEAUTIFUL octopus size expanse of rigid flex (Kapton) circuitry.
They didn't tell us which planes our stuff went on, unless we asked or had lunch & played racquetball with the marketing ladies.
But since there was only Litton Electron Devices and Teledyne, for radar tubes, propably our stuff went on most current planes.
It's really a shame they tore down those old ceramic factories. It's exactly what they will have to build if they are serious about space flight. Metallized ceramics are some of the best Lego Bricks for the hot end of the space flight situation.
Apparently we will find out sooner than later. ..
