My 2.5lbs is 3" by 36", while my little collection pot is 6" by 8", and my storage vessel only holds a little over 5 cans so my cycle and shower time took 2 hours today and i still didnt remove everything i needed too. Getting a little aggrevating, the correct size rod seems to be around a 2" x 24" or a 3" x 12" judging by other bhogarts i have seen.

i havnt put a tape on it but bottom is roughly twice as large as the column which we measured at 3 inches so it would make since its a 6x6. i managed 600 easily but i guess 2.5 would be a little unforseeable, my mistake. No tape on the stoarge tank that sounds right though, its a 1lbs. model.
Running collection pot at 100-110 and storage tank at 38 degrees with my column frozen to 35 i was only able to achieve 5 pressure on the blue gauge during my shower resulting in not a full extraction that took forever.. any advice??

Did you follow the instructions and create negative pressure in your system with your vac prior to the initial shower? Are you using heating pads wrapped around your column to prevent freeze up? Are you sure you have enough cans of butane in your storage tank? If the actual surface temp of your collection pot was 100-110 the recovery should have been very fast, especially on such a small system.
@furrwall11 yes with the negative pressure!! I also recover all my tane to storage vessel than burp atmosphere and reapply more tane but everytime the amount of atmosphere is large when i burp it. i did the math, my system with the full 5 cans would way 4.45 kg and i can only get mine too 4.25 with 6 cans! So between only having 3.5 cans of tane to wash an entire 3"x36" column (thats frozen, not heated in anyway) and a tiny collection vessel my times are taking forever.

Sounds like he sent u a big spool. You need the bigger collection pot and tank to make that work right. Sounds like u bought a 1 lb unit and they sent you a large spool with it. The 2x36 standard spool that comes with that unit works well. U can get 6-7 cans in there btw.
Great thanks for the tip! This thread has been soo much help. I found the leak, it was a very small one coming from the 3/8 mega flow hose. It is still pretty new, kind of surprised that it's leaking already. I think someone posted a similar problem on here. Can anyone recommend the best type of hose to replace this crappy one that i have?
i tried the mega flow hose next to a standard 3/8" hose...No real noticeable difference in recovery time
We're having good luck with custom stainless overbraided PTFE hoses from Motion and Flow or Associated hose/

decrease in run times, over the 1/4" hose I was using.

I could see how using a 1/4" hose will increase recovery times.
But the difference between 3/8 and 1/2" is negligible.

So i had been running with newport and switched to cloud 9 to hopefully have less uncompressible gas to burp from the system, but every run yesterday i ended with large amounts, and so much so on the final run that i entered 2 cans into the extractor, cracked the recovery tank open to let the tane out, and turned my recovery pump on. (after vacuuming system to -30hg for 30min plus) and somehow had so much atmosphere in my system it wouldnt even accept butane from the recovery tank, instead just showered the two cans and lots of atmosphere. I was very cautious when entering the cans to make sure and not bring atmosphere when tapping and also distilled my recovery tank, my only hypothesis is either there is atmosphere in the cloud9 or my recovery pump is sucking it into the system, but if that were the case i dont see how it would hold a vacuum, any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm a little lost. After assembly and hooking up all the hoses and such you need to vac the system from the purge port. It should only take 5 min max. Close the valve to the system. (the one to the tank was closed already) Also, close the high side gauge valve.
Attach the can tapper with the can already tapped, open tapper valve and system valvle only. Not tank valve. One can will go in fully. Tap the second can.
Only about half of the second can will go in.
Close the tapper valve. Close the low side gauge valve, open the high side.
Turn on the appion, and open both valves to the tank. recover the gas down to 5hg or 0hg. Turn off appion. Close the tank valve, open low side, close high side.
Now you can put the rest of the can in. Remove tapper, reinstall the schrader valve.
Now you can let as much of the butane from your storage tank as will go in.
If it doesn't all go in, turn the tank back over and recover the pressure for
a few minutes. This will lower the pressure in the system and raise it in your tank.
Now you can get the rest into the system.
Also, during recovery, if you pressure is really high (60+) you can close the tank valve,
shut the appion and burp some pressure by pulling up on the ring on the
pressure relief valve.

Thanks kcar, i mean to say i vacced the system to -30hg for 5 min or so as you mention, than left it too pressure test with the vac off for another half an hour. I did the cans how you mentioned, but for some reason, when i turn my recovery pump on there is atmosphere in the system still. Im mostly curious whether i could be pumping uncompressible gas into the system with my recovery pump or whether it could be in the cans of tane already?
