Auto AK47 Outdoor Grow

Well, thought they had shown sex, but at second glance, they haven't.... Don't see any hairs yet on the girls..... They were feminized seeds, so as far as I know they can't be anything but female.... Or turn herm I guess.. Sorry about the grainy pics. Next update on the 26th. Thanks for viewing and all your helpful advice.... Appreciate you guys taking the time to help the less experienced.

Looks like a bug problem on one of the leaves. What do you think?

I think the trash can is a very inventive excellent idea. If you didn't have it you would have a 100% of nothing. I believe your yield will be larger than 100% of nothing. It would be nice if after you trimmed you posted how much above 100% of nothing your yield was.

Update, 05/24/10... I was going to wait until the 26th, but decided to take a couple pics for an update. We've had some rainy weather the past couple days, but they still seem to have grown quite a bit.... How much does this strain stretch under normal conditions? Looks like the girls are stretching a little to get better light, but overall they look good... They have shown sex, but it's hard to see from the pictures I've taken. Also, they're about halfway up to the top of the trash can.... I might have to train them a little bit, but I've heard they don't take well to any training. Looking for a couple opinions on this...... How much taller should I expect them to get during flowering? I'm guessing they'll at least double in size, so I'm probably going to be forced to train them to stay in the can....... I'd rather not unless absolutely necessary... Thanks for viewing........... Sorry about the bird stuff on the side of the can... Will clean off before next update.=)

Well, let me introduce myself. I'm not entirely new to growing, but I also don't have a load of experience, and it's been years since I've toyed with it. I'm a working man looking only to grow enough for personal use. Been browsing the forum and thought I'd join in. I posted an "Introduction" in the "Introduce Yourself" forum, but I guess the 8 folks who viewed it weren't too interested in greeting me.:moon: Only joking.

Here's my little project: Two plant ******** Feminized Auto AK47 Grow.

Outdoor "Stealth" Setup: 32 Gallon brute trashcan painted flat white on the inside. I also have two tops for the can. One top I have drilled a bunch of 1 and 1/8 inch holes in to let in plenty of sunlight and air. The other top I left factory, and use it to cover up on the rare occasion we have too much rain. I really haven't put either lid on it at all yet. Holes drilled in bottom for drainage, and rocks to keep the holes from clogging up. Trash can raised up on bricks.

Plant Medium: Foxfarm Ocean Forrest Potting Mix

Light: Approximately 13 Hours Per Day Natural Sunlight

Daytime Temp.s: Mid Seventies F. To Upper Eighties F. Throughout Grow

Night Time Temp.s: Mainly in the upper 50's F. to mid 60's F. right now, but they have gone as low as the upper 40's F..

Fertilizer: No Fertilizer For The Plant's "Veg." Stage as I'm Trying To Keep Them Small For The Can, But I Have Some Tiger Bloom For Flowering.

Alright Guys, I originally got the idea for this from YUKON'S trash can scrog on this site. One of the main reasons I'm posting this here. Same concept except for with autoflowers so there will hopefully be no need for training. The bottom of the trash can has Fox Farm's Ocean Forest Mix. From the top of the soil/mulch to the top of the trash can I only have about 18-19 inches of clearance, which I'm guessing might be a problem. I started my plants at the end of April, all outdoors with no supplemental lighting, and now they are only 6 inches tall. They Seem To be healthy/happy so far. I need to keep them from coming over the top of the can if at all possible.

This is my first autoflower grow, and my first grow period in at least 7 years.

Questions:

1. In such a tight space, would it be possible to somehow make some seeds with only two plants? I've never done it, but read you can stress out or spray something on a female to make it grow balls?

2. If you mate two autoflowering plants, will the offspring keep the autoflowering trait?

3. Would it be possible to grow any regular strain and keep it in this can with or without LST/Topping, etc.?

4. I'm on day 20 something and my plants are only 6 inches tall. Is that normal for autoflowers given the amount of light they're getting?

This will be my first ever grow journal, and I hope we can all have a little fun with it. I haven't even viewed a forum like this since Overgrow back in the 90's or early 00's I believe it was. Thanks for viewing, and any opinions/ideas will be greatly appreciated.
Nobody answered your questions so I will.
1.. In such a tight space, would it be possible to somehow make some seeds with only two plants? I've never done it, but read you can stress out or spray something on a female to make it grow balls? If you have a female and a male you can make seeds. Just shake the male over the female. With just females you need chemicals to get pollen. Stressing would not be the way to go you would end up with plants more likely to hermi. Making fems with chemicals requires more effort and they have to be timed with different grows strarting at different times.
2.If you mate two autoflowering plants, will the offspring keep the autoflowering trait?Yes
3.Would it be possible to grow any regular strain and keep it in this can with or without LST/Topping, etc.? Probably not.
4.I'm on day 20 something and my plants are only 6 inches tall. Is that normal for autoflowers given the amount of light they're getting? They're small without 24 hours light. That's not abnormal.

Thanks Vicious Bee! Sun's coming out tomorrow, and supposed to stay out, so I'll post an update in a few/several days. I'm gonna have to train them slightly I'm afraid. I was thinking about using a clothes hanger.. Plan would be to bend up one end of the clothes hanger which would bury in the soil, leave one end with the "hook", then I could just slightly bend the plants to catch in the "hook" and keep them down... We'll see.

You know I got to thinking about it and what you have is like a sun tube that people put in their roofs to channel light. I bet it's getting more light than you think.

Thanks for the comments everybody!

Vicious, I'm almost certain they're receiving fair light.... They're definitely getting better light than I originally thought they would in the can.

Picture Update! They seem happy.. Reaching the top of the can though. If they get any taller I'll have to "lean" them slightly..... How do they look?
