Kratom is the drug of choice of the 3 old Malaysian Muslim provinces in the south of Thailand .
Muslim folks don`t drink alcohol so are not like their booze guzzling compatriots in the rest of Thailand .

Prohibition of kratom is an easy way for the Thai Army to round up young muslim males .

Might lead to better relations between the army and separatists . There are bombings and assassinations down there every week that are not talked about in the media .

eb i would agree and think anything that improves relations between those guys is good,
and anything relatively safe that can steer folks from the booze is good news also ,


from what i hear kratom is used widely in thailand ,
with little to no harm done ,
a good thing for helping folks get off narcotics also so i read ,
id say its a step forward for sure ...

Trouble is young folks mix it with cough medicine .
They make a brew of kratom , cocoa cola and cough syrup . They call it 4 x 100 .

I inquired about it . The folks I know over there didn`t know where to source it .

a prosperous new year to all ..
i thought maybe we had escaped most of the fires in the west but a lot of country is now ablaze . authorities have declared a total fire ban in a lot of shires , even though the temps are relatively low , but for the reason that most local fireys have left to fight fires in other shires !
we had a serious fire here about 2 this morning but because a lot of us were already up celebrating we were able to get onto it and smash it fairly quickly .

Hey rod, we evacuated a couple of days ago. Property is still okay now, but we will have to wait and see after Saturday. It's not looking great, heading towards us now, but moving more slow now. We are safe and out though. Glad your fire is out.

looking at the weather map today and it seems there will be significant falls around the place , not us though !

that really is a worry rod ,
seems like the whole coastal side of the state is ablaze ...

not good at all , particularly at the beginning of summer ,
and not much chance of rain in the near future ,


i feel for the folks living in those areas along the nsw coast ....

yep , and as you say donald , the summer has only just begun .
we don't seem to learn from past mistakes .
i drove past a large area that had been burnt about 10 year ago , and it was a seriously large and very hot fire . 10 years later and this area is again overgrown and not managed at all . it just keeps repeating itself !
