^ Very nice, mang. Big up yaself! :tiphat:

Here's some AF pix from last week, interested in this one 'cause it's different..

Cold Farmer Nepal x FinDragon and FD x CFN, the stick separates the two, but I forgot which one is which and I have misplaced me notes.. Pictures were taken just after I pulled the males, so it looks a bit empty. Hoping they will spread out some. We'll see..

Anyways, FinDragon is Finola x Diesel Ryder, a line that has been worked on for a few seasons @ about 63-64N. If you don't know, Finola is hemp, doesn't do much for me, but I tried the FinDragon last year with a couple of test plants and it was super fast, mold free and the smoke was OK, too. Nothing super high stuff obviously, more like a short buzz followed by a relaxing feel to it. No hangover, so that's nice also. I'm a pretty light smoker and toker these days tho, don't think the stuff would please you hardcore weed guys there.

Gonna go water and check out the spot later, so I might take update photos if the damn horse flies don't get me, god damn things, mang.. And we got another heatwave here at 61N, so hauling water is what's for dinner. Not that I'm complaining.. Well I am, about the damn horse flies, can ya blame me?

Have a good one, dudes and ladies! :tiphat:

THE HEAT

killed about 1/2 my outdoor plants.

that has not happened before. using G&B 3 cubic foot potting soil mix.

no choice but to switch soils.

3 plants that are doing well, knock on wood -

in a hole about 5 feet deep, planted in the ground, not in a black pot.

i think part of my problem is, black pots sitting in the sun.

except that was not a problem in any previous year.

I don’t think it was the soils problem. Plants in black pots on 100 degree days need water multiple times per day

I hear you. I lost almost that many too. The heat even burnt the tops of my tomatoes and my kiwis plants (vines) were killed where they wrapped around the top rail of my deck.

The worst were, surprisingly, those I planted in the corn fields. We just never had any rain for a month and they're not in a place I can get water to. Corn is very good at watering its self just with the morning dew (take a 60 second walk in a corn field in the morning and you'll get soaked). But with 12 inch corn plants, that water evaporates quickly.

We are finally getting some blessed rain... it’s been drought ...the farmers are hurting ...the first cutting of hay bales and I see that yields are very low...also the sweet corn is only ankle high...It should be knee-high by the Fourth of July....

No idea of what security issues (hiding the plants) you have, but if you can pile loose straw up fairly thick around those pots, it will help keep the soil in the pots cooler...

Is it possible to sink the pots in the ground? May save them from the heat

Absolutely. Nurseries do that with trees. It's/they call it Pot-in-Pot. They dig a hole and drop a pot in it. Then they take the potted plant and drop it inside the other empty pot. This way they never have to dig. Just keep reusing the buried pot.

You can also bury a clay pot to water your plants. They're called OLLAS and have been used for a couple thousand years.

Aw bummer.

I live in the northern-central valley of Cali where it is basically 95f to 105f+ from May until early October along with humidity down around 10% to 15% for the most part of a day/24hour period, and my plants are in the sun pretty much all day long....I've had good results using "Roots Organics Original" in my fabric pots.

I'm using 20 & 30 gallon fabric pots. I've been using the same roots soil for 3 years now with good results (literally the same soil I bought 3 years ago, I re-use it year after year and have never dumped it out). Even during the peak of summer I'm only watering every other day at the very most. About 2 to 3 times a week. And I don't even always do a full deep watering. The soil seems to have good moisture retention along with being relatively airy/fluffy. Though over the years of using the same soil and adding compost and a bit of other amendments, the composition/structure of it has changed a bit.

I could go more than 2 days but I like the every other day cycle during the peak of summer...I actually had a few plants last summer that were males, so out of curiosity to see how long they could go with out water I just stopped watering them...they were still alive and looking fine even after about 10 days of no water in 100+ degree weather with super low humidity, and direct sun from shortly after sunrise to shortly before sunset. (they were sharing a 20gal fabric pot together, IIRC it was some SFV Kush bagseed).

Silica is also something that helps give a plant drought resistance amongst other protections. I use Pro-Tekt.

Love the outdoors. I get to grow trees.

Some of the outdoor weeds I have. 2 are volunteers. The giant bush (mama thai x Jack H) x sourbubble. It grew out in the garden where I tossed all the trim after ice extraction. She reeks.

The other one is with the finger in the pic. Damn pinkey.. I'm thinking it is killa queen x sourbubble. Once again it's where I tossed the trim in the compost pile. Another one that reeks.

The single plant is C99 the one with 3 are train wreck.

Have a sht load of pics to show of my LEAGLE outdoor grow. (if Cool) To think 18 years ago I was thrown in jail for growing here. No I get to push them to the limit.

Please let these get up to 2 feet tall

before an animal takes a bite ...

They're in a hole about 5 feet deep.

Soil is forest humus on top of de-composed granite, with a 3 cubic foot bag of Happy Frog conditioner on top of that. With a bit of bone meal mixed in.

Risk taker huh? Lol.

They look really healthy.
Put mothballs around them. Don't know if it helps but Raccoons stopped messing with my tomatoes after I did it and the fuckers were digging them up for a week.
